I stumbled across an old Record I have from 1992. For all of us who put this period of the RFC to the back of their minds, here's the side that ran out for round 1, 1992 against North Melbourne at the old Waverley Park.

First game as coach for Jeans after Bartlett left at the end of 1991 never to return.
Daffy was wearing his original number 44.
Current Richmond assistant coaches Paul Spargo and Darren Crocker were playing for the Roos.
Former Richmond CEO Mark Brayshaw was an emergency for the Roos.
Nine of the starting 20 would be part of our 1995 finals campaign.
Four would be part of our 2001 finals campaign.
Campbell and Maxfield are still playing AFL. Duncan was a reserves player (see below). Carey played as well.

Richmond  2.8 4.9 6.10 9.10-64
North Melb. 3.1 8.8 16.12 19.17-131

The memories, They delisted Paul Dimattina who went on to play 150 games at the Bulldogs in preference to Mark Pitura who played one game I think.
You see, the mistakes our club make are not just at present but well into the past.

Word I heard was that he was absolutely gutted, being a lifelong Richmond supporter, and cut because he had been injured. Now he wants his kids to grow up doggies supporters.  :'(

Well after the bagging he gave the Doggies the other week - I doubt the Bulldogs would want his kids as supporters ;D

The name Pitura and Richmond recruiting disasters are synonymous  :'(. Who says lightening doesn't strike the same place twice  :(.

Does anyone know why Stuart Maxfield had to leave us, was it cause of salary cap issues,
Look where Stewie is now.
Our club is desperate for leaders

At the time from memory he mentioned that he felt there were better opportunties for plumbers in Sydney than Melbourne ??? but recently Maxfield said he didn't feel he was getting the opportunity at Richmond as he was played on and off the bench as a impact player. He said Sydney with Eade as first year coach offered him the chance to play more on the ball. As PRR said $$$ would have also played a big part as Sydney at that time were in the habit of saving their extra grant from the AFL so every two years they would have heaps of dough to throw at out-of-contract players. We got a compensatory pick in return which we used to pick up Gas from Sydney.

24. Who ???

I don't remember him either WP  ???

46. Played in a premiership with Adelaide didn't he ???

Yep 1998 in his first year at Adelaide. Left Richmond after playing the last (his only) 7 games in 1993. Got half decent possessions as well in those games looking at the AFL Tables stats! He was out of AFL for 5 years and went and played in the SANFL from memory. That's how the Crows spotted him. A late developer I'd guess  :-\.

If I recall correctly, I remember watching Thiesson in our under19's back in 1991.
He was often in our best picking up numerous possesions playing on-ball.
Dimmatina was also coming through the Under19's.
Simon Garlick was playing some handy games for us as well.
I also remmber Duncan Kellaway standing out too.

We were gonna pick Simon Garlick up, until Sydney selected him with the pick before us...we had to recollect, and selected Mark Merenda.

Not mentioned is that the Maxfield family were dirty, dirty, filthy dirty that Richmond did not push for an investigation into Grenvold breaking Stuart's jaw behind the play. Were all life-long mad keen Tiger supporters who now follow the Swans.

I remember bailing up Stewie's girlfriend/wife Justine at the B&F the season he left and asking why Stewie wouldn't sign.  She just said for memory the Swans made a better $$$ offer $$$, and Richmond wouldn't match it.

Broke me heart when Boofa left.

Im amazed as a devoted tiger l didn't realise Munivrana played for us.
He played for the Preston (Northern) Bullants for years, and in recent times for West Preston/Lakeside in the Diamond Valley.Had no idea he played on an AFL list, let alone the tiges.
