Title: 2007 Membership - The Tiger Movement (Experience Generation Next)
Post by: one-eyed on October 03, 2006, 04:02:40 AM
Does anyone know when the 2007 membership will be released?

As a bit of fun what do you think the new slogan will be?

That'd have to wait for the draw so they know how many games we have in Victoria.

The draw is due in the next fortnight so I would think we'd hear around end of October

As for a slogan  :-\ :-\

Thanks WP  :). Speaking of the draw, I've heard rumours we've got the 9 home games at the 'G we asked for and that we play Hawthorn home at the 'G in round 1.

2007 slogan: Feral Forever lol

I am actually more interested in how many times we will have to travel.

Just on the Dawks - I know they were keen to play us in Tassie again

The game was good for Tassie but not for us. Despite Tiger supporters packing out York Park and making the game a success, the club receives nothing in return and it's just one more interstate game for the team. Better off playing the Hawks away at the 'G.

Has "In the hunt" been used before, or should that be reserved until we are a top 8 side?

Its good.  Corresponds with the new bond movie Casino Royale at the same time.  Maybe the tigers can advertise their memberships in cinemas all across the country.

well seeing they are flogging off a 17 game membership I think it's fair to assume we travel interstate 5 times  :banghead

It would also appear we play down at geelong again  :banghead :banghead

the campaign looks good but....

As for the packages (in particular the one I have which has gone up again  >:() I will reserve judgement until I get some answers on a few questions I have regarding the "benefits" at first glance though I'm not happy :banghead

Yes Moi it does.

They've changed the name of it to "The Player Club"

As I said I need a few questions answered before I;ll comment on whether I am happy with it ;)

Titus ton Up has had a name change too - its now called "the Locker Room"

And BTW you need Adobe to view the brochure because it's an adobe file

I like the look of the campaign, it's well done, although I do have my reservations about putting kids in the limelight like that, look what happened to Cogs after the club plastered his face all over town.

As for the membership details, I've got no real complaints, personally I become a gold member this year, but I think I would prefer a hoyts movie pass than an invite to a cocktail party where I'm unlikely to get more than one drink!

This is probably a dumb question but where is the "bay area" at the 'G  in regards to The Interchange package?

The option of a guest pass would come in handy in my case for basically the same membership I take out now.

By the looks of it we are getting 8 home games at the G and 3 at the fukken poohole again.

Frikken skunks get 15 games at the G, geez I hope to hell we make the 8 and they don't and see if things change then. stuff I hate skunks and AFL ....

And I would of sworn we would never play at Kardinia again - Youv'e got to be farken joking DON'T you  :banghead

May aswell schedule us to play Carlton at Princess park also .... AFL LOSERS  :scream

It's funny how we've altered between youth and senior players the last few years. It use to be Richo every year lol then we made a young Cogs the poster boy for the "It's in the blood" campaign. Then we went back to Richo, Sugar, Browny and Joel as well as Cogs for "tribal fever" and now this year back to just the young guys. The club obviously thinks we're still a few years away from being a contender  ;).

A Reservoir Dogs campaign - Browny is Mr (doctor) Pink and we've got a Mr (Matty) White. Polo's and Matty White's mugshots look a bit too realistic lol.

Seeing they say it gives you budget reserve seating I'd say it will probably be somewhere over in the new Olympic stand

The Budget and Premium C seats (yellow bits on the MCG diagram) are the same but they individually reserved for the whole season so I've got no idea where this bay area would be unless they are freeing one up to use.

Who knows - perhaps they haven't worked it out yet  :rollin

Young Tigers to the fore
9:11:37 AM Mon 23 October, 2006
Paul Gough
Sportal for afl.com.au

Richmond's marketing manager Trent Jacobs said the club decided it was time to focus more of its membership and marketing strategies on the youngsters that have provided success-starved Tiger fans with so much hope over the past two years.

"We felt it was time to reposition the club and, rather than focus on what was, focus on what is going to be," he told Sportal.

Jacobs said the Tigers' membership strategy for next year also sent an important message to the club's fans.

"We are showing them (the fans) that we are trying to grow our champions from within the club."

Jacobs said there was another key reason the Tigers had decided to go with players that were aged between 19-21 and that is because they are the same age as the age bracket of the fans the Tigers desperately need to attract if they are to boost their membership up to the level of rival Victorian clubs such as Collingwood and Essendon.

"We are strong in membership from people aged from their mid 30's up to late 50's and early 60's because of the success we had in the 1960's, 70's and early 80's," Jacobs said.

"And we are strong in terms of members aged up to 18 because they are children of those members but it is the generation in between that we have missed because of our lack of success in recent times."

"And that age group - Generation Y - best identify with our young group of players who are in their early 20's."

The cocktail party is great fun Dallas, except last year I paid for hubby to get in and really didnt need to. There was no one on the door checking tickets. But to be fair, we certainly got our moneys worth in food, drinks and eye candy!!! ;)

They put in the youngsters from the 2003-2005 drafts who played plenty of senior games this year. Whitey was the only 2005 draftee in the promotion while JON, Hughes, Casserly, Limbach, McGuane, Moore, Jacko and Hartigan were all left out.

Time for hope
1:46:09 PM Fri 17 November, 2006
Jennifer Witham
Exclusive to afl.com.au

AFL players might only now be returning to the training track to start their long and arduous pre-season campaigns, but club membership staffs have been hard at work since even before the Grand Final, working on packages and messages to entice fans to join up again in 2007.

A spokesperson for Richmond - who has assigned young guns Brett Deledio, Nathan Foley, Andrew Raines, Richard Tambling, Dean Polo, Matthew White and Danny Meyer as the faces of the campaign - said research shows the club is lacking in members aged between 18 and 30.

The hope for the Tigers is that a campaign promoting the up-and-comers of the club, using the slogan The Tiger Movement: Experience Generation Next, will ultimately attract members between those ages.

Richmond has smashed its pre-Christmas membership record!

At close of business yesterday (Wednesday, December 20), the Tigers had broken through the 13,000 membership barrier for the first time in the lead-up to Christmas.

"It is particularly pleasing to be able to break our pre-Christmas membership record and achieve 13,000 ticketed members for the first time in this period," said Richmond’s General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Trent Jacobs.

Mine came today. Very happy with the new cap. The peak is back to a normal size and the cap overall fits better for those of us with larger heads lol. The tiger skin towel is slightly bigger than I thought it would be. I think I'll stick to waving my scarf. You don't get that little info booklet anymore given the info is on the net but I liked it simply because it had the Richmond draw on the back which was handy.

I have a normal 11 game m'ship & reserve seat (with Pet Me'ships attached) on top of my Player Club package.

I have to pay for them separately.

Paid for the Pets & the 11 game m'hip via the internet on the day I received the renewal - I think that was early November! Still nothing received from the that one :banghead

Paid for the Player Club one in mid November - nothing for that either  >:(

What makes it worse from where I am sitting is the Membership delivered to our place the other week was paid for (via the phone) about a week and half after the one that was renewed on-line  :-\

Don't get it to be honest  :P :-\

Only difference between to the 2 apart from when they were paid for is; mine are Platinum and the other one was Silver

Waving these towels could turn into a one game flop as we're playing the Swans first up at home but if we got on a bit of a winning run the publicity could attract more people to our games and more than pay for the extra bits.

We won't start reaching big membership numbers (35k+) until we play consecutive finals and then, given our latent support base, the sky's the limit. There are Tiger supporters waiting to hop on the bandwagon but they need to be convinced first that this isn't another false dawn. 31-32k would be a good effort this year IMO. From small steps big things grow  :thumbsup.

I'm not disagreeing with your predictions Ramps. If with some success over the next decade or so we can generate a 600-650k supporter base or more then you'll "only" need 10% of them to sign up to reach that 60-65k figure. The issue at the moment is the Morgan survey claims we have a base of around 400k and if that's true only 6.5% of them are members. In the 90's the threat of extinction got Victorians in large numbers to become members. To generate more you'll need another incentive. Most likely long-term success and playing an exciting brand of footy to watch.

They are just an impossible size to do anything with ... maybe if they were bigger people could tie them round there body leg arm or even use as a bandanna.

I watch the baseball and in the world series they have these things people whirl in the air, just don't think that will work here.

Marketing flop this one ... keep trying   :help

i ordered my usual 10 memberships, 5 have arrived, 5 have not.  i called them yesterday and they said all have been processed and ready to be sent as soon as more rags/skins arrive from overseas.

btw, whats with the bulldogs membership numbers!!! sinnce when do they have the right tyio have more members than us!!! aty this stage they are creaming us.
this is what i hate most about tigers fans, many of them just cant be f to buy a membership. we should have close to 40k based on our huge fan base, wtf is going on!
and the bloody saints, how many nuffs have jumped on their wagon over the past decade. b4 that they were lucky to sign 5k!

another beef i have, we are the only stupid club that separates non- ticketed members, wtf dont other clubs do the same. what i wanna know is , with the pies, bombers, saints cats and dogs, how many of their members are ticketed and how many are non - ticketed. i am preety sure their figures combine both which then makes us above 20k

i ordered my usual 10 memberships, 5 have arrived, 5 have not.  i called them yesterday and they said all have been processed and ready to be sent as soon as more rags/skins arrive from overseas.

btw, whats with the bulldogs membership numbers!!! sinnce when do they have the right tyio have more members than us!!! aty this stage they are creaming us.
this is what i hate most about tigers fans, many of them just cant be f to buy a membership. we should have close to 40k based on our huge fan base, wtf is going on!
and the bloody saints, how many nuffs have jumped on their wagon over the past decade. b4 that they were lucky to sign 5k!

another beef i have, we are the only stupid club that separates non- ticketed members, wtf dont other clubs do the same. what i wanna know is , with the pies, bombers, saints cats and dogs, how many of their members are ticketed and how many are non - ticketed. i am preety sure their figures combine both which then makes us above 20k

Not to worry. We'll bypass the dogs easily by the time proper footy starts. Many Tiger fans don't renew until just before the round 1. Some even wait until our first home game. As for not having 40k members - 25 years of failure including many false dawns during the past 12 years is the reason for that. Just like all clubs our bandwagon  will grow when we start making finals on a regular basis.

I think the Saints claim they don't have any non-ticketed type of memberships. I think a few clubs throw in some game access in all their membership packages so they can count them as ticketed.

Anyway, with the membership figure in the herald sun and in regards to our ticketed and non-ticketed members do other clubs tallies just put it all together them both or what because it seems we are the only club that splits it up or reports it.  Does that make our figure look weaker compared to other clubs putting them both together??

Just out of interest.

Welcome TA
From last years membership thread.

Quote from: Fishfinger on February 21, 2006, 01:03:11 am
Let's see.....an example......oh, I know - an MCC member pays the yearly subscription but wants to also contribute to the club and be a club member. MCC Tigers sounds ok, $139 for entry to 4 TD home games, steep but at least you're a Richmond member.
Hold the phone....you find you're called a "non-ticketed" member because you don't have access to finals tickets.....as far as "official" membership figures are concerned you are not included....some kind of claytons member. Insulting rubbish.

The AFL have made the rule yet all other clubs seem to package their memberships to get around it. (or they ignore it)

Ridiculous isn't it

Is it also non-ticketed because it allows entry to only 4 games. I remember reading somewhere that the AFL placed a 5 match minimum for a membership to be classed as ticketed. Is/was our blockbuster (5 game) membership

So in that case if we were (dodgy) like the other clubs are membership is actually 24172.
But as we have been honest as a club in the past tallys we want 30,000 ticketed  :thumbsup

Like said allready I have mine but no pet membership as yet - anyone else  ???

No Pet Membership stuff for me either CUB

I think you'll find some clubs combine the numbers, others like the RFC don't. When the figures go to the AFL they must be listed seperately by category with a grand total. The reason being the number of "fully" ticketed members determines how many finals tickets (in particluare the GF) a club gets allocated

The last time I heard a ticketed membership is one that has a "bar-code" - fully ticketed are those which gives entry to 7 or more games. There's good chance that's changed - the AFL like to change things  ::)

if richmond played in the previous 3 finals, i reckon we would be top 3 for sure ...

we are very consistant with our membership numbers for a team with no finals in 6 years ...

st.kilda and geelong start finishing outside the 8 ... they will be back to the bottom ...

so i reckon its a credit to all richmond members for giving there $100-$250 per year ...

we should be where hawthorn or melbourne are !

one word ... LOYAL !

Title: Dees now allowed to include MCC members as MFC members
Post by: one-eyed on February 28, 2007, 04:41:27 AM
Quote
The Demons, with co-operation from both the AFL and MCC, have created a heavily discounted new category of membership designed to entice the 21,000 MCC members who support the football club into sharing not only their passion for both clubs but their dollars, as well.

From this year, a $40 outlay will enable MCC members to be registered MFC members — a plan that, if it succeeds, has the capacity to transform the Demons' lowly membership into one of the largest in the AFL competition.

Melbourne finished with fewer than 25,000 members last year, the second-lowest figure in the game. Its support fell below that of the Western Bulldogs and only marginally bettered the Kangaroos. If the club lures even half of its MCC supporters with the new membership it would suddenly boast 35,000 members and move into the top half of the membership ladder.

the concept will be revisited at the end of 2008 to evaluate its worth and possible availability to other clubs, especially Essendon and Carlton, who also have supporters who are MCC members.

I think they were trying to say that Essendon and Carlton have the next highest MCC members after Melbourne. I know Essendon has quite a few.

I would like to know why for just $40 the Dees can include their MCC members as fully ticketed yet we need to separate our packages into ticketed and non-ticketed. If we could add ours together we could claim 35,000+ members too and have one of the highest memberships in Victoria.

Yep, it costs us $165 to do the same. Sucks.
Also, how can it be classed as fully ticketed when it doesn't give access to games? Seems all club's members are equal but some are more equal than others (to butcher Georgie Orwell).

I'm in the same boat as CUB (not literally, I'm on dry ground).
I didn't mind the MCC Tiger membership to be a Richmond member but buggered if I'll take it out when it is considered "non-ticketed" even though it costs almost as much as an Adult 11 membership.

How hard would it be for the AFL to just count all club members? Our club seems to have no problem separating which have access to finals tickets, surely the number crunchers at AFL Headquarters could handle it and publish accurate figures instead of the inaccurate, misleading and insulting ones they release now.  ???  >:(

Agree FF. Just count each individual who has some form of membership(s). That's a truer view of how many members support each club.

We gained roughly 4,000 members between now and the first game last year. From 21k (14/3/06) to 25k (2/4/06). So we could be around 28k by round 1 if that is repeated.

We should be over the 27k mark by round 1 going by last year's figures. A "upset" win this week would do wonders to kick us up to 30k and over.

We sold around a 1000 last year across the R1 weekend but as it's not a home again I wouldn't have a clue how many we sell at the actual ground. How many Tiger fans will turn up to an away game after the past week with our injuries?!  :-\

Surprised we have any members the way some people carry on.  Had a look at the Essendon board on Big Footy.  Whilst they weren't happy with their huge loss, no-one carry on like they are here.  But I guess that's the difference between supporting a club and just barracking for a club.  No wonder the other teams laugh at us.

I was surprised and thinking gee after the start to the year they have had that they shouldnt be complaining about anything.

Membership cracks 30,000 mark

THE RICHMOND Football Club has cracked the 30,000-member milestone for the first time. The Tigers fell just under 600 members short of the figure last season, but a 2 per cent rise has pushed that to 30,044 in 2007.

The result is a huge boon for the club and shows that ts fans are among the most loyal in the competition, a point reiterated by coach Terry Wallace.

"We're really pleased to hit 30,000 members for the first time as a club," Wallace said on Tuesday.

"I think in the circumstances of where we are on the ladder I reckon it's a real credit to our supporters, who have continued to come to games.

"They've been really vibrant and they have a real understanding of what it is we're trying to do as a club. They've done that by joining up and giving us our highest membership ever … and I reckon they deserve a real pat on the back for what they've done with us this year."

Wallace said Tigers fans had been unfairly maligned over the years and the fact the club had been able to achieve record membership numbers during a season in which they hade won just one game to round 13 was a sign of the fans' undoubted passion and belief in where the team was headed.

"They are passionate and when things aren't going well they'll let you know, but when things are going well they'll let you know as well.

"But I think they have been terrific in understanding what we are trying to achieve. Unfortunately it takes time and it takes a little bit of patience.

"I know football and patience aren't two words that go together too well but I think the Tigers supporters have shown they have a pretty good understanding of that."

True Bull - retention is the key

But congrats to them for getting over the 30K mark - after the Geelong game I will admit I didn't think it would happen

If we continue through the rest of the season putting in competitive efforts then I believe we'll be okay. Roll out the top draft pick(s), our centenary in the VFL/AFL and a good start to 2008 and who knows.

If Carlton can have 33,000 members and experience the lows they have been over the last few years then I can't see why we as a club cannot experience a growth spurt in terms of membership considering our lack of success. The future is looking brighter though MT in regards to players recruits or draft picks and the fresher style of play we have adopted in recent weeks. Thats 3 weeks in a row we have scored 100 points plus so with some legitimate on field success whose to say our figures cannot boom to the levels of Essendon or Collingwood in the ensuing years.
Our season has only be defined by the Geelong match. Other than that we have been in the game into the last quarter bar the Port game also so all is not lost and the fans can generally see this.

The Blues also broke their membership record this year - over 35,000  :o. Their membership has been up and down like a yo-yo in recent years depending on how they've gone in the preseason cup. Just goes to show as a big supported club string a few wins together and the bandwagon will take effect.

I don't know Terry, I reckon us Richmond supporters have had more practice in patience than any other teams supporters. We'd be pretty damn good at it by now.  :yep

Record year for AFL memberships
July 12, 2007 - 6:44PM
AAP

The on-field success of Geelong and the Kangaroos in 2007 has not translated into membership sales in what was a record year for the AFL.

Both clubs recorded sizeable drops in members, according to figures released by the AFL.

Despite sitting two games clear on top of the ladder after round 14, Geelong's membership fell by more than six per cent to 30,169.

The Kangaroos, winners in nine of their past 11 games, perhaps paid the price for losing their first three matches as their numbers tumbled by almost 10 per cent, dropping to 22,366.

But there were bright spots, with Fremantle's preliminary final berth in 2006 prompting a remarkable surge in their membership numbers.

For years the Dockers have lagged behind their cross-town rivals West Coast, but the Dockers crashed through the 40,000 barrier for the first time in their 13-year history, signing 43,343 members in 2007 - 21.5 per cent more than last year.

Overall, more than half a million people joined AFL clubs in 2007, with memberships up 2.6 per cent to 532,412.

Ten clubs posted increases, including Adelaide, which is again the league's most supported club.

The Crows increased their membership 1.7 per cent to a touch under 51,000, while West Coast (up 4.1 per cent to 45,949) was second and the Dockers third.

In a further indication on-field performance can have little bearing on membership, bottom-of-the-ladder Richmond managed a 2.2 per cent increase to finish above the 30,000 mark for the first time and Carlton posted an impressive 23.2 per cent jump - the biggest in the league - to move above 35,000.

The Western Bulldogs (28,725) also recorded a healthy 10.3 per cent increase.

The Brisbane Lions recorded the biggest drop, their membership plunging 16.9 per cent to below 22,000.

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou said in a statement that the figures were "a tribute to the work of all clubs and the passion of supporters for the game in every part of Australia".

"We and our clubs are in the privileged position where more than half a million people across the country are paid-up and proud members of an AFL club," Demetriou said.
