Wallace, also a leading contender for the vacant Richmond job, is seeking a four-year contract which the alternative Hawk group believes is too lengthy for a first-up deal.
They do not believe Wallace or his former teammates, Rodney Eade and Gary Ayres, are necessarily the best candidates for the job, despite all having senior coaching experience.
