Title: Assistant coaches?
Post by: mightytiges on August 13, 2004, 06:45:30 PM
Any news/rumours on potential assistant coaches? Maylin, McGuane, Carey, etc....

Flood looks safe at Coburg so who would you like as or reckon will be the three assistant coaches under Wallace?

Tiger assistant could go
15 August 2004
Sunday Herald Sun

NEW Richmond coach Terry Wallace said yesterday he would dispense with an assistant coach if it meant having the club's salary cap where he wanted it.

Wallace, who will take up his new job in October, said the club had told him what the football department's budget was and he could allocate it where he believed it was needed.

"I would rather go without one assistant coach and have the salary cap where you want it to be rather than the other way around," he told ABC Radio 774 yesterday.

Wallace said he had a premiership formula and had structured a team and the type of personnel he wanted.

David Flood isn't contracted to the RFC but Coburg.

He will remain at Coburg but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets more involved at the RFC if Terry goes one short with his assistants.

Great to see Terry thinking outside the normal coaching square and looking at the footy dept budget as a whole  :bow

5AA interviewed Crocker before the game. KG asked him about his future and the Tiger's future. Said he didn't know but then he immediately spoke of Richmond in the third person. They're should do this and they're gonna do that. Sounds like a man who knows he'll be on his bike at the end of the season.

Come to think of it, Danny and his assistans could open up a restaurant pretty soon. They may well have some big wooden spoons to get them started.

 ;D

lol @ them selling wooden spoons on one of those 2am infomercials. "But wait there's more. Not only do you get the spoons if you sign us up within the next 15 minutes you will also get one stupid cliche after cliche and three years of record losing streaks"  :scream

Do beleive that Paul Spargo will go back to Albury and open a car yard with his Father.
Would say the Darren Crocker would remain coaching at some level somewhere. has a ""footy brain"" but has been unable to make a valueable contribution due to restraints.
As for Britain, he can just pee off !
Both runners will get the flick as do the boxing coach and conditioning coach

If possible, it would be good to have a near total cleanout in this department.  If Terry Wallace wants a view on current players, he would probably be better placed asking Greg Miller, as his assessment would be less emotionally-based than the coaches who have worked with the current list for a few years and would come from a different perspective.

Totally agree TS. Always thought Miller staying out of the coaches box was a good idea so he could remain impartial.

Brown has said that Wallace was asking him about some players and about the assistant coaches.....
