Title: Will the game now be live on TV?
Post by: one-eyed on March 24, 2009, 03:21:55 PM
SEN just talked about the chance of the game being telecast live since it's a sell out. The broadcaster (in this case Ch 10/One HD) has to put in a request to AFL and then the home side (us) has to tick it off.

Not sure but if they have to ask us for permission then I'm presuming not.

Ch 10 is showing the biggest loser ahead of the footy.

I think the name of the show preceding the footy either way is very apt.
THE BIGGEST LOSER.

Yes the loser of this one may be the biggest loser come September but I am really nervous right now and the nausea in my stomach in anticipation of this match is only increasing. To equate what I am feeling with regards to the game its like I am 19-21 years old again on the afternoon of a date with a good sort that night and I just can't wait to leave home and get stuck in. :gotigers

You would reckon they should show it here live in the West wouldn't you, but no not in this butt stuff state unless it's the Eagles or Dorkers.

After a sellout, the live to air broadcast is the next move in complete ratings obliteration.

Must happen.

For that very reason i am astouded it's not being beamed live into the West.

Stupid, stupid decision by a commercial station.

95,000 at the game to basically to see two ex Weagles champs go head to head?

I would have thought that was a no brainer!!!!! :P :P :P :P :P :P

Ten declines to show sellout Carlton-Richmond game live
Michael Warner and Jon Ralph

CHANNEL 10 is refusing to screen a live broadcast of Thursday's Richmond-Carlton blockbuster - despite the match being a sellout.

The last remaining general admission tickets to the AFL season opener were sold on Tuesday.

And a stampede for MCC reserve tickets means a bumper crowd of up to 90,000 is expected for the 7.40pm showdown. The AFL reserve is also sold out.

But Ten chiefs last night claimed they required several days' notice to alert the public to a change to its advertised broadcast time.

"We need at least three or four days to be able to get the change of time out there to the public. It's too late," said Ten's head of football, David Barham. The eagerly awaited Ben Cousins versus Chris Judd match will instead be shown on a 30-minute delay.

Richmond president Gary March last night called on the network to reverse its decision.

"It's disappointing for those people who can't get along - it will probably be our biggest-ever home-and-away game with a finals-like atmosphere," March said.

But AFL spokesman Patrick Keane revealed the League had not been approached by Ten with a submission to telecast the game live, as required under broadcast rules.

"That may well change tomorrow," he said.

Friday night's Grand Final rematch between Hawthorn and Geelong is also expected to attract a massive crowd.

Have One HD changed their programming?

I 'm sure I saw that they were going to show our game at 7:30 in Brisbane....

Now they are saying they are going to show swimming. Who watches swimming? I hate swimming. Bunch of f****** smiling vegemite kids. Nick D'Arcy was just about the best thing to happen to that sport...

Nup Jake in Sydney and Brisbane it's still the swimming. You'll need Foxtel to see the game live in NSW/QLD/ACT.
