Nightclub bans AFL stars
28 September 2004 Herald Sun
Sam Edmund
SIX AFL stars have been banned from one of the city's most exclusive nightclubs.
The Boutique Bar has shut its doors to some of the game's elite.
The Prahran hotspot has banned the footy troublemakers after a recent series of late-night incidents.
The bar, co-owned by former Temptation Island contestant Nick Russian, is popular with the A-list crowd and a favourite of hotel heiress Paris Hilton when in town.
But it has vowed to stop the AFL's party boys soiling its image. Boutique co-owner Darren Thornburgh refused to name the blacklisted players yesterday, but confirmed the club was clamping down.
"When they get suspended in the AFL they cop three or four weeks, but with my place it's an automatic life suspension," Mr Thornburgh said.
"I'm not going to take the risk they are going to stuff up again. There's a certain element of the football scene I don't want in here, and I know who they are. We don't discriminate against people because they play football. If they've got a good head and a good attitude, they get in.
"But out of every 100 footballers, 10 of them are good and the other 90 are d---heads. Footballers are like prunes – one or two aren't too bad, but too many of them give you the s---s."
Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, supermodel Kristy Hinze, Froars, Jackstar and tennis ace Mark Philippoussis have all partied at the Prahran nightspot.
-
36 ? No names just a number ;)
-
Well, Nicko Russian can go to hell - the A-list will move elsewhere lol
I bet it must have dented Shane Crawford's ego the other day when waiting in a queue with Tony Kelly, finally got to the door to be told he couldn't get in. Not pretty enough it seems lol
-
Crawford was seen earkier that night ""prancing "" around Moonee Valley ;)
