Midseason Player Review
« on: June 07, 2010, 03:33:28 AM »
We're halfway through the season so a good time as any for some reflection on how each Tiger has performed over the first 11 rounds.

Who has improved/impressed/surprised you?

Who has disappointed or not come on as you would've hoped?

Who needs to pull their finger out in the second half of the year to survive the end of season cull?

Who do you want to see more of in the Richmond senior side rounds 12-22?

Edwards and White on all three counts. If they continue to improve they may yet make AFL footballers.
Jack has impressed, as has nason.
Newman may make me eat my words regarding leadership - a meal I'm happy to have.
Gee, even king has moved up in the pecking order.

Morton. Was hoping Roberts would have had a bit more impact, but thats a pretty high expectation I suppose.

Besides the usual suspects - Morton

Griffiths, taylor, roberts and morton - as long as they earn it

So are my ways higher than your ways,

Who has improved/impressed/surprised you?

All the young recruits! I can't remember the last time we had such a batch of promising first year players.  :thumbsup In particular though Martin has lived up to all the hype and then some. Just an amazing player for a first year recruit. He has already claimed the lead inside midfielder position. Scary to think how good this kid could become.

Jack has just blossomed of late. His contested work with Leppitch during the pre-season coupled with our game style is suiting him to the ground. One out he is hard to beat.

Nason has played well above what you would expect a player picked last in the draft to show. His haircut makes him standout but he is far tougher than his spindely little arms suggest.

Gus has come on too if the last three games are anything to go by. Is taking marks, tacking and getting to where the ball will be - well done Lade!

Edwards has stepped up another notch and seems far more poised and clean. Not being pushed around as much either.

Who has disappointed or not come on as you would've hoped?

Vickery - lost his athletism around the ground. I understand his ruck work and size will need time but he seems slow and ungainly at the moment.

Post - but in saying that his Coburg form has been impressive of late as a forward. Think he is a more natural forward than a defender.

Morton - last game was dismal. I think he is struggling to play a defensive game and can't seem to manage the two roles.

Thompson, Hislop and Polo - gone  missing

Who do you want to see more of in the Richmond senior side rounds 12-22?

Griffith, Taylor, Browne, Hicks, Roberts, Gourdis, O'Rielly and Rance - with the exception of O'Rielly and Hicks, the tall timber are all showing something and I want to see them on the big stage. Hicks continues to be in the best of every game he plays but his size is holding him back. Westoff has been killing them as a forward in the Reserves and is a project player but could be very handy.

Spoiled for choice really  :santa

Keep playing the kids at least 2 more wins no more than 3, finish bottom but despite this keep playing and developing the gamestyle we have shown during the last 3 or 4 weeks.
