Burns with the first Aussie ton of the summer (107*).

Head nearing one as well on 91* after just being dropped.

Both saved us from a top order collapse with this 192 run unbeaten partnership.

Aussies 3/220 at Tea.

Something about penultimate games catching minor premiers out that had dominated the H/A season and cruised into the finals. Even in T20 cricket, hitting the finals with momentum and peaking when it matters is more important.

So Eddie has now experienced two Grand Final chokes in the space of 6 months lol.

Stars cruising at 0/90 and only needing 7 runs an over with just over 50 to win before the whole batting line-up lost their heads and imploded.

Smith and Warner were always going to come back into the squad but I wonder if they will end up being a distraction for the rest of the team which had finally jelled and had good one-day series wins in India as well as over Pakistan. The tabloid Fleet St media will focus all of their attention and scrutiny on Smith and Warner.

Turner stiff., Khawaja will be useless in UK conditions - same reason Handscombe missed out, I would've taken Short as well., Stoinis is a dud. :shh

Aussies off to a winning start with a more cautious Warner batting right through our innings.

Both he and Smith were booed by a minority of the crowd coming on and off the ground and when Warner reached 50 but nothing that was loud enough to be a big deal.

Afghanistan  207 all out (38.2 overs).

Cummins 3/40
Zampa     3/60
Stoinis      2/37
Starc        1/31
C-Nile      0/36

Aussies 3/209 in 34.5 overs.

Warner  89*
Finch     66
Khawaja 15
Smith     18
Maxwell    4*

Smith and Coulter-Nile save us from an embarrassing top-order collapse. We recovered from 4/38 & 5/79.

Aussies 288 (49 overs)

Coulter-Nile  92 (off just 60 balls) .... WC record for a No.8 batsman.
Smith  73 ... got out to a freak catch by Cottrell on the boundary.
Carey 45
