Flooding

(1/1)

mightytiges:
lol @ Wallace putting flooding back into the spotlight just before we play against Eade's flooding tactics. Nice way to put the focus on the dogs  :thumbsup.

Agree with Pagan that getting the footy inside 50 quickly counters any flood.

Harry:
Bit surprised with wallace's comments.  But it's good to see he's "whinging" like some of the better coaches, especially Sheedy and Malthouse, and not just shrugging his shoulders and taking everything on the chin as the loveable spud used to do.

The better teams don't struggle with the flood as they know when to deliver the ball quickly and know when to pass it around.  It's the "dumb" teams like us that struggle with the flood as we will kick it blindly when there is a 4 on 1 against us.

om21:
In fairness, we arnt going to beat the flood two rounds in. We have been drilled for 5 years with a style that gets eaten by the flood, TW wont change it overnight. But the more quicker movements occur, the more we will break the flood and in time it will happen. We saw the Hawks just floating around our defence for most of the game....and we struggled. Hopefully we learn from it and continue to improve this week.

The "1" being Richo most of the time  :P.

No coincidence that when we didn't bomb to Richo with Everitt, Barker, Croad and Thurgood surrounding him, the Hawks flood was useless to stop Browny and Pettifer marking and goaling in the last quarter.

The top sides week in and out beat any flood with skill, speed and plenty of attacking options. Agree om21, it's going to take a fair while before we even get close to being that proficient.
