This is gonna be great for his footy. No disrespect to ms fevola and I may be completely wrong but she looks high maintenance and that may have distracted from his footy.
I’m expecting big things this year as he will have none of the distractions (ie.the next A-list event or photo op he must attend) that he’s had to deal with to maintain a demanding social standard that makes some people feel relevant.

Great conjecture

Conjecture is probably the correct term

I was going to roll with “what a load of complete rubbish”

RIOLI SHOULD HAVE, AND COULD HAVE

Marsh Series - Giants v Tigers - The Mongrel Punt
HB Meyers
March 8, 2020

This should have been a four or five-goal game from Daniel Rioli, who fluffed a couple of easy chances early in the game, but still did enough around the ground in the first half to have a significant impact on the contest.

I have long thought that Rioli doesn’t do enough in his role across half forward, often going missing as players like Castagna, baker, Lambert and Caddy do the hard yards, but he was wonderful in the first half of this game, and provided both an option inside 50, and also ran hard up and down the wings to provide an option.

I am sure he has had bigger games IN bigger games, but Rioli started to show a maturity in this game, and a bigger tank, working harder both with and without the ball. He finished with 18 touches and two goals, providing an aerial option for the Tigers at points as well.

Tore GWS a new hole in 2017. I still suspect his ankle hampered him last season. Will be a jet this year.
He left two Carlton defenders for dead for that last goal where he sprinted half the length of the ground.

Thought he was pretty good against the Blues and not just for kicking 3 goals.

I thought he looked a bit sore after that. Maybe tired from chasing and running all night

I thought he had a good game. He looked really dangerous and the last goal he kicked was a beauty.

Looked better than 2018-19. Probably because he's single again.

Daniel Rioli is another Tiger struggling in 2020, averaging just eight disposals a game. He kicked three goals in the win over Carlton in round one but has only kicked one goal since.

Is he fit enough to get a run on the wing? Looks short on confidence and perhaps buzzing around the ball will get him more involved in the game.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

He is a shadow of his former self. It seems he’s getting worse as a player and not better.

No tackles in a scrappy crap game is unacceptable in modern footy.

Barring injuries he needs to be dropped for longer than just the token week for a change... :shh
