I had a dream that I punched the Merkin in the head for holding our club to ransome all year.

Not sure why the helll our club hasn't bagged the crap out of him publicly for what he's done

Because if they did Dusty would definitely be gone.

But this isn't all the Merkin's fault, Dusty is part of this circus. He has the final say, he has control here. To think or suggest otherwise is ridiculous

So please as I said before Dusty is 25 years old, he can end this now. Ultimately it is HIS decision not Carr's, not his Dad's but HIS.

Have felt all year he would stay but based on the circus this has now become; especially the last fortnigh now I  am not so sure.

How is this NOW a circus?
They've been consistent about an announcement, Carr hinted that there might be an announcement at the end of the H&A season.
The only change in the past 2 weeks is that Norf have stumped up more cash and probably leaked it to put some media heat on Richmond.
That's isn't the fault of player or manager.

This is a circus pure and simple. I don't think that should be taken as a pot shot at anyone, it is what it is. Every half assed journo is jumping in to it, every other footy fan has heard something about him staying, going, becoming an All Black etc.

Dusty's team have often stated that they will make a decision at the end of the season. We all know that. But that doesn't mean this hasn't become a circus.

Is that Dusty or Carr's fault. Hard to know for sure because who knows where the misinformation coming out in the media is coming from, although I think it was predictable it would degenerate to what it is as the end of the season drew closer, and I do personally think that was part of the plan in working out a new contract. It will be interesting to see if this has repercussions in the future as I can't see many clubs wanting this to happen again. I can't recall this level of hysteria around Ablett, Franklin or Dangerfield's decisions.

I take WPs point though. This is a circus, and the only person who can stop it is Dusty when he announces his decision.

The only circus Ive seen is the media beatup - carr is only doing the right thing by his client, dont think he or Dusty have done anything untoward. If Dusty had of signed earlier in the year he'd be getting nowhere near the deal he's going to land now - like him or hate him, he's done a tidy bit of business here

The only change in the past 2 weeks is that Norf have stumped up more cash and probably leaked it to put some media heat on Richmond.
That's isn't the fault of player or manager.

This is NOW a circus because all parties with the lesser contributor being the RFC (and there is certainly some irony there based on past efforts) have made it one.

yes the media are carrying on like fox terrier looking for a marrow bone that is bigger than them but....

The Dusty camp has contributed in a massive way in the last month

So much  the "speculation" has come from information being "leaked" to the media. Don't you think it's a little strange that the deal was almost done and dusted (no pun intended) up until a few weeks ago? This wasn't just the media getting into another frenzy, trying out do one another this was driven by one of the parties and it wasn't the club.

The only major change in that time was Danger gets suspended and Dusty becomes outright favourite for the Brownlow. Low and behold what happens next? Another delay. T

Then we have good old Ralph come out and say we won't derail the Tigers final campaign so a decision will likely be after the H&A season? What the? We don't want to derail but there will likely be decision between the H&A season and the 1st week of the finals. Yep no derailing there  ::)

Then we find out from the media on Monday that Dusty and Ralph are heading to NZ to next week to see Dad & decide. Now how did the media find about that little gem? The RFC? Nope, from Carr ... again no derailment

Then the final piece of the circus comes with the "news" in the last few days that N0rt have upped their offer... again

Yes Carr has to the right thing by his client but that also includes advising on things other than $$$$. Ralph got the bloke his million a season so what more do they want? If they haven't worked out by now what's best long term then they never will

It's a circus and one that with finals so close should end so we can actually enjoy them rather discussing whether someone stays or walks out

Again, ultimately the final decision is Dusty's and he can end this now and he is refusing for whatever reason not too.

Would be ironic to lose our best player in three decades to a club we effectively subsidise...in a roundabout way they'd be paying Martin with our money...as they take advantage of the capitalism of free agency within the socialism of AFL equalisation....:clapping

I don't think I can ever think of a scenario as ludicrous as a player who:

-Is about a win a brownlow medal.
-Has been offered over a million dollars a year over a lengthy period.
-Playing in a young team that is (likely) going to finish top 4 and potentially give the premiership a shake
-From a team with a brownlow medalist, duel Colman medalist and 4x (lets be honest, its a lock this year) AA backman (and arguably one of the greatest of all time)
-Could potentially deliver one of the great clubs a premiership after a 30 year absence of ANY tangible success

in order to go LEAVE for a club that:
- Finished bottom of the ladder
- Is at the start of a rebuild
- Is unsure that their coach will be there next season.
- Unlikely to have any success in the medium term.

Have I got that right?

He wont go to n0rf, forget them.
Cant see why he wont stay with us but if he did leave it would be to st kilda or essendon etc
Personally over it and completely agree with WP. This whole thing has the ability to derail our finals campaign and i personally think it will.

I'm over it too. Not because I can't hack the speculation but because I'd rather focus on the finals. Happy if we don't want to pay more than our alleged offer.

The Club should make the decision for him. Just say sorry mate, we can't afford to play this game any longer, you're off to North, good luck, enjoy your money and thanks for the memories.
