Richmond is set to sign Kamdyn McIntosh to a new two-year deal and Nathan Drummond to a new one-year deal.

Rioli, 20, is also in contract negotiations and expected to recommit.

Think I've been one of few to back the kid in but gee he has not shown much (or anything) so you would have to agree with your comment

Is there a code the clubs go by? I would have offered him a rookie spot with a chance of upgrade if he came good......

nothing against Nathan but like someone else said put him on a rookie list we have far to many list cloggers - hunt, morris, elton, hampson, broad, maric

Knee injuries aside, don't we have enough of his type/style of player?
We have drafted a lot of smaller types over the last few years, is he still necessary?
We should be loading up on KPP and ruckman.
Anyway what would we know????

Have always thought it's something clubs just do

Cannot think of any club that has not given new contracts to blokes who've done their knee needed a reco and were in the last year of their current deal

Freo kept giving Morabito new deals apart for the last one when they promised to rookie him,  with all his knee issues.

Morabito though, was actually talented and also a high pick....Drummond is neither of those things...

But the Swans have done it with Alex Johnson who's had 5 recos since the he played in their last winning GF

So it's very common

the swans have been successful and we have not been, so i think we need to start showing some of these the players the door.

bemusing that you talk of not playing a star player x an extra 100k when you have such d grade footballers on the list, most likely getting 300k odd

In this case a rookie list at best and save the cash for martin or may

I know I will regret this but what the hell are you talking about?

And just so we are clear your words " Not playing a star player x 100k..."  :huh3

What does that mean?

I think he is referring to the extra alleged $200k before tax payment required to keep Dusty, which if he pays at the top tax bracket will be approx $100k assuming Dusty doesn't have some tax avoidance scheme going with NZ Maori bikers who are really nice people when you get to know them.
