Rate a Tiger's year - Tom Lynch?

Next up is Lynch.

Tom played 19 out of a possible 21 games in 2020. A hamstring injury meant he missed the final H/A match and our Qualifying Final loss to Brisbane. He returned for the Semi-Final win over St Kilda which was arguably his best game for the season and ultimately made it two premiership medallions from his first two years at Tigerland.

I gave him a 9. He copped a lot of attention this year and was scragged a lot. Also our forward entries were woeful in the first half of the year so literally had no opportunity. To finish top 5  and his physical work in the prelim against port has me giving him 9. I think I gave him a 10 last year as a comparison

I gave him a 6. Solid season.

Not a great year for key forwards but I have higher expectations than what he delivered and I really think the spotlight got to him. His goal kicking was poor at times this year too.

Really hope he moves past it and kicks 60+ next year.

I gave him a 7.

Was solid without being outstanding over the entire season.

Needs to nail more of his set shots

Thought he was outstanding against Port in the Prelim. Was clearly targeted and stood up when we needed him.

Indeed.

How was that turd Duursma? My boss is his aunty. I showed her the GIF of the dropping the cup...

Apparently his younger brother is a better player...

Would give Lynch a 7. Output and average goals down on last year but it was a difficult year for all key forwards. He was/is important to our structure as we missed him badly in the QF. His goalkicking was off this year but that finger injury may have been the reason for it. He said he'll need post-season surgery on that finger/hand.

Love Lynchy and I think he is close to our most important player to how we structure up - The final against Brisbane really showed that I reckon.

He had a quiet pre-season comp and a very slow start to the season. Interesting to hear him he admit he was 'out of touch'.

I don't think his marking or goal kicking was quite as sharp as 2019.

A credit to him that he was still a great contributor and plenty to work on for 2021.

Handled himself so well under media pressure too.

Without Lynch in 2019 and 2020 we struggle to get to top 4 in both years.

Shorter quarters and more flooding by the weaker teams meant the opportunities were less than last year

He is vitally important to us structurally.

Rated him as an 8

I loved Lynch’s year- he showed he was hard and tough and that he didn’t mind throwing his weight around.

Although I do think most of his “incidents” were over played by the media.

I give him a 9

big year and a massive reason we have 2 extra flags.

gave him an 8, but could easily be an 9. I love how he gives it to everyone and they tried to bring us and him down over what?

laughable how he was treated but it was equally funny watching slobbo types with egg in their faces.

Lynch is an absolute gun.

We can’t win flags without him. Inspired choice by our list management team  :clapping
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
