Rate a Tiger's year - Dion Prestia?
« on: October 22, 2018, 02:26:14 PM »
Next up is Prestia:

Dion had an injury interrupted year playing 13 games to bring his Tiger tally to 35 matches and 130 games all up for his AFL career to date. After a late start to the season missing the first 3 matches, he began the year against Hawthorn in round 4 and played the next four games before suffering a calf injury which saw him miss 6 matches. Dion came back into the senior side against the Swans in round 14 but then copped a heavy knock against the Pies in round 19 which injured his ribs. He returned against Gold Coast only for hamstring soreness to cost him another week before playing in our final three games including both finals.

Season Highlights:
* 26 disps (21 kicks 5 hballs), 3 marks and a goal in Qualifying Final 31-pt win over Hawthorn at the MCG (6 Sep 2018)
* 28 disps (14 kicks 14 hballs) and 6 marks in Rd 23 3-pt win over the Western Bulldogs at the MCG (25 Aug 2018)
* 26 disps (14 kicks 12 hballs), 5 marks and 3 goals in Rd 18 54-pt win over St Kilda at Etihad Stadium (20 Jul 2018)
* 29 disps (15 kicks 14 hballs) and a goal in Rd 17 2-pt loss to GWS at Spotless Stadium (14 Jul 2018)
* 28 disps (14 kicks 14 hballs), 5 tackles and a goal in Rd 16 47-pt win over Adelaide at the MCG (6 Jul 2018)
* 24 disps (13 kicks 11 hballs), 6 marks and 4 tackles in Rd 15 26-pt win over Sydney at Etihad Stadium (28 Jun 2018)

I voted 4/10.
Harsh, when judged purely on balance of performance when he did play, but missing so many games for the money we pay him is not good enough.
Fingers crossed for better continuity next season. When fit, hes a 7-8.5/10 prospect

There was much focus on Dusty and Assberry in the prelim but I wondered about this bloke’s fitness given how poorly he used the ball.
Seemed injured after the Collingwood game and we never got the consistency after that game that made such a difference in the finals series last year.
Went from 24 possessions at 70% until r19 to 24 at 50% in the last 6 games - missing 2 through injury
Our smartest player after Jack and Dusty with his absence really hurting
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Has played 5 finals with us and has been in our top 6 in 4 of them.

That itself shows how important he is for us.  :shh

apparently he never really recovered properly from the cracked ribs? If so it would really explain a lot because when he is on he is an absolute jet. He didn't look to crash hot in the heat of it in the prelim

I gave him an 8 because when he's on the park he is a gun.

I gave him 8.
Should never have been selected in coll game, 4 dodgy ribs, pies sorted that in the first 5 minutes, hopeless after that, should have played Miles.
Wanker selectors.
Very valuable when fit.

Looked pretty damn good in the qualifying final. Can’t pick and choose when you wanna blame injury.

Would love to see what this guy could do with a full season without any injuries. I’m tipping it would be special.

I feel miserable now giving him a 4/10 but the question was rate his season, which means in entirety. You reckon he was an 8/10 playing so few games?
So if he played the entire season I assume he gets a 10/10?

Agreed.

5/10 season for me.
7/10 for the games he played.
