Speculation on Harley Reid

Who would be happy to take Harley Reid at the end of the year for our top 2 picks?  I would but it depends on what else is available.

Nope, no deal!  The entitled sook is a cancer that we don't need.  Yes, he can play, but so can all of our draftees.  I'd rather work on our boys than have to fix this spoiled brat ...     :thumbsdown

Depends where our picks fall. I wouldn’t give up 2 top 5 picks for him.

I think where our list is, getting 2 highly rated kids in is more valuable then getting Harley on his own even if those kids are a tier down talent-wise.

If he does go that means two recent No 1 draft picks drafted in a club not of their home state have shortly left the club after being drafted.

Wonder if it will change clubs drafting attitudes or they are happy with compo/trades done

What if we end up with say picks 3&5, then there's some priority picks and high end FA compo, and say we end up with 5&8?

Still fancy us for the spoon somewhat but it's probably only a dream come true that Norf + Tiges finish in the bottom two and we get 1&2.

There's always BS band 1 compo for players leaving cellar dweller clubs too.

If Kellaway turns out to be a decent prospect then it make make the decision somewhat easier.... :shh

The only high end FA compo that I’m aware of would be north if LDU decides to jet. With academy/father-son picks I’m aware of 1 for the suns (surprise surprise) that’s projected for top 5. So I don’t think the top end of the draft will be impacted much by FA/FS/Academy.

In any case, picks 3 and 5 for Harley would Defs be worth considering. Again depends on how our recruitment team rate the players projected at those picks. Like I said, I think drafting 2 x 8-9/10 prospects is more beneficial then 1 x 10/10.

Another thing to consider would be the salary Harley would expect. Not that we don’t have a crazy amount of room, but I’m not sure Harley warrants 1mil+ in what would be his 3rd season.

I wouldn’t do the trade imo. I have concerns with him being overhyped, happy to be proven wrong

Still reckon the Eagles will want more than 2 first rounders

And agree with this 👇

Because his attitude and body language on field so far in 2025 isn't great.

This is the part that bothers me.

I've heard some clubs are talking 15-20mil for ten years?

I even heard (?)Norf or some other minnow club offered Fin Callaghan $17mil for 10 years.

That's crazy money and I'm very mindful that we achieved our dynasty without any players really receiving absolutely absurd amounts of money. Dusty had earned his contract, and you might argue that Lynch's back-ended one was too expensive but it wasn't in the early years. We had several stars on fair money trying to win flags.

I think bringing in Reid on 1.5-2mil/year would probably upset any team.
