WHEN THE FOOTY GODS ARE SMILING....

08.06.05

It was a case of the Footy Gods smiling on me. Late last week I got a phone call from a mate who wanted to know if I was available to attend a special pre-match function for the Tigers round 11 against the Eagles.

The invitation was to attend the pre-match luncheon of the Richmond Football Club's new coterie - The Richmond Executive. As has been well documented this coterie was formed in late 2004 by Tiger Director of Football Greg Miller. As I have said many times I am always on the lookout for new footy experiences and this one did not disappoint.

While all guests enjoyed the food and drink Greg Miller welcomed everyone to the function. First guest was Tiger Immortal Tommy Hafey who spoke while the legends game was being played. Tommy quipped that some of the blokes running around in the game were not in the greatest "condition" for footballers and if they were playing today they'd have bit of trouble keeping up.

Next guest was Tiger coach Terry Wallace who gave us a run down on the key match-ups and the main areas of the game plan that was going to be used against the Eagles. Although everyone is aware of the Tiger game plan (run and carry) I couldn't help but view the game a bit differently on Saturday after hearing the Wallace pre-match talk. The other great thing about listening to Terry Wallace is how his enthusiasm and passion are just infectious. As part of the day I even managed to get into the rooms (briefly) prior to the game. Inspiring stuff to see the players getting ready for battle.

It was a great to be part of this function and this group for the day. Congratulations to Greg Miller, the coterie members and everyone else involved in the Richmond Executive for an outstanding contribution to the RFC

A SPECIAL TEAM OF TIGERS.....

Do you know what the F.I.D.A is?

No?

FIDA stands for Football Integration Development Association. This group is responsible for running a football competition for the intellectually disabled throughout Melbourne.

There is a special team of Tigers playing in this competition and OTP has been eagerly following their progress.

The Mambourin Tigers are based in Werribee and have so far played 3 games in season 2005. They have won 2 and lost 1. There only loss coming against one of the strongest and most experienced teams in the competition the Port Melbourne Colts. Their next game is scheduled for June 19

OTP will be following the fortunes of the Mambourin Tigers for the remainder of the season and I'll keep you updated with their results.

So from all us here at OTP and OER: GO MAMBOURIN TIGERS!

Or post it on the forum!

Just a reminder

That Coburg is finally the broadcast match on the ABC this Saturday. Their FTA coverage is on par with Richmonds I reckon.

And from my totally amazing file - Richmond are actually on FTA TV this week as well - Channel 9 Sunday at 4.00pm. In a word: FINALLY
