INJURY UPDATE

17.05.04

Despite speculation on the OER forum it wasn't a case of testing 1,2,3 for Duncan Kellaway on the weekend. Passing a fitness test during the week Duncan played half a game for the Coburg Reserves on Sunday at Werribee.

Missing from the Coburg line up on Sunday was Billy Nicholls who during last week had some hamstring tightness (similar to Wayne Campbell). Rather than risking the possiblity of tearing his hamstring the Club chose the cautious appraoch and had Billy rest this week.

Also not making an appearance for Coburg this week was Alex Gilmour despite my best efforts I didn't manage to catch up with Alex so I am unsure of the exact reason why he didn't play. But I notice a number of people have raised the query about the scratch to the eye he suffered a fortnight ago.

You have got to feel for young Kyle Archibald who is still battling the OP. Unfortunately, the young bloke confirmed that he is still on a modified training program and there is no set date for his return.

CATCHING UP WITH.....

The Tigers Footy Manager Greg Hutchison was the guest speaker at a pre-match function for one of the Clubs membership groups. I didn't have the opportunity to hear what Greg said at that pre-match function but I did manage to catch up for a brief chat at the Coburg match down at Werribee.

The main focus of our chat was in relation to some of our injured players and how long before they would be back playing footy. As reported Wayne Campbell was extremely close to playing against the Bulldogs. Hutchy told me that he should be back this week against the Power. Same goes for Tim Fleming who has a slight calf strain.

Not such good news for Luke Weller who strained his hamstring early in the match against the Bulldogs. Hutchy said that the good news for Luke after having a scan yesterday morning was that it is a strain and not a tear. However, expect Luke to miss at least 2 to 3 games.

Finally, I caught up briefly with Matthew Rogers who said that he had made a good and quick recovery from his latest thigh injury and that he was confident that he would be back playing this weekend against the Bendigo Bombers.

AND FINALLY..........

WillliamPowell's TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Having just forked out for a new Club polo shirt this past week - I started to think about the number of changes we have had in apparel sponsors in the last 10 years and as a result I give you this weeks trivia question

Who was Richmond's apparel sponsor before Lotto? (hint you need to go back to 1994)

Answer next Week

If you have got the answer to this week's trivia question.

Feel free to drop me a line at:

Or post it on the forum!

Due to the Tigers being out of the media spotlight this past week I have been able to put my soap box away for a while.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that the next Tommy Hafey Club luncheon is on Wednesday June 2nd and it will feature a tribute to our 1969 Premiership Team.

The Tommy Hafey Club are now taking bookings for this function. If you have a couple of spare hours I thoroughly recommend you try and get along to one these luncheons they are fantastic (Tiger Heaven is how I usually describe it). Bookings can be made by contacting:

And my final word...

A final reminder that there is going to be Footy at Punt Road Oval this Sunday May 23rd. Coburg versus the Bendigo Bombers the 30th anniversary of the Windy Hill Brawl - be there!
