INJURY UPDATE

17.08.04

The longer the season goes, the longer the injury list becomes at Tigerland. News this week that Kane Johnson will not play again in 2004. Interestingly as MT pointed out on the OER forum Chris Newman will miss "2 weeks" and with the Tiger's season finishing in 2 weeks OER thinks the word "season" would be more appropriate.

Both Chris Newman and Brad Ottens braved Melbourne's arctic blast last Saturday and attended the Coburg Tiger's match at Windy Hill (North Ballarat was warm compared to Windy Hill). On crutches and wearing one those "splint boots" Brad is up and mobile. To enable Otto to take his seat in the stand yours truly graciously made way and asked him how the ankle was? A simple "not too bad" was Brad's response.

CATCHING UP WITH.....

While in Adelaide.....

Great to see young Andrew Raines in Adelaide on Sunday at the after match function. Andrew had played for Coburg on Saturday and was one of the lucky players who did not suffer from hypothermia. After playing for the Burgers, Andrew flew over to Adelaide to join the senior team. Andrew explained that the Club had decided that it would be a good experience for him to travel interstate with the team. The idea being it would give exposure to what is involved in preparing and travelling in seasons to come. Kudos to Club for having the young bloke as part of the "touring" party. Now let's cross our fingers that he gets a senior game before 2004 comes to a close.

Despite the final result on Sunday, I did manage one victory. I was one of the raffle winners at the aftermatch function. I scored a 2004 team poster and with all players being in attendance I managed to get it signed. A simple piece to add to my memorabilia collection.

AND FINALLY..........

WillliamPowell's TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK

As I mentioned on the forum "Who said this" was the most popular trivia question we have had - so it is back this week.

Who said this?

"It's given me another thing up my sleeve. I can now play in two positions which is always handy it you're having a bad run".

Answer next Week

If you have got the answer to this week's trivia question.

Feel free to drop me a line at:

Or post it on the forum!

And my final word...

Yes I was in Adelaide on Sunday. It was the first time I had been to a Crows game, my previous trips to Adelaide were to watch Richmond -v- Port. Yes I had been warned about the crowd but I had to witness it myself. Here are a couple of highlights: I was heckled in the Car Park and then there were 2 lads who followed me half way around the ground heckling about Richo and trying to sing our theme song. But the highlight from the Adelaide crowd came from a lady who yelled out something about "Richmonds supporters spitting on their players like we (Crow's Supporters) do". Poor woman struggled to get the words out but somehow still manged to stuff them up I reckon.

OER's Media Watch..aka..WP's Soap Box

Well the Tigers got there man in Terry Wallace. (Kudos to Jackstar for being spot on the money). I am sure Caroline Wilson is telling anyone in Greece who'll listen about her ability to read twinkling eyes. Patrick Smith also boasted about how right The Australian was in their bold prediction 8 days earlier. Mike Sheahan has told us what a good fit it will be.

But can anyone tell me what many of the so called experts, who amongst other things, said there was NO WAY Terry Wallace would coach Richmond, have said regarding how wrong they were? If you answered zero, zilch, nada or nothing you are spot on the money.

All I can say is ...What a surpirse?
