GEELONG has entered a request with the AFL to have next weekend's clash against Richmond, scheduled for the MCG, moved to GMHBA Stadium.
The Cats have been fixtured to play their home match against the Tigers next Sunday at the MCG at 1.45pm AEST with the afternoon slot brought forward due to the Tokyo Olympics.
However, given the COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria in recent days and the possibility of no crowds being able to attend matches next weekend, the Cats have asked the League to consider relocating the round 19 clash to GMHBA Stadium.
The Cats returned to Victoria on Friday afternoon after dismantling Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Thursday night, a day after three games scheduled in Melbourne were moved to Queensland due to Victoria's COVID-19 situation.

i predicted this from a long way back.
guess what folks they will get it
-
Given our season is shot we should sell it to them for a return match at the G in 2022
-
Given our season is shot we should sell it to them for a return match at the G in 2022
its their home game mate.
Do you think the afl would have agreed for a change if the other way was around?
-
"We'll play them anywhere anytime" - Benny Gale just now on 7news when asked about playing Geelong in Geelong.
:thumbsup
-
We’ll probably beat them :lol
-
I have zero problem with them requesting this
-
No issue at all
If it means the game's in Victoria then go for it
-
Fair enough too.
Don't care if we lose either.
Can still take the premiership cup with the team for a nice little tour.
-
Bullocks
Who would want this in Victoria given how we have played there, let alone kardinia.
Explain why cats couldn't have flown direct to qld and us stay here? You know if you believe these clowns Victoria is unsafe isn't it? :lol
-
No issue at all
If it means the game's in Victoria then go for it
What difference does that make?
-
ask for Metricon Stadium! 11 in a row now :thumbsup
-
Don't think we any say in it if there are no crowds. I will say AFL should avoid empty stadiums as much as possible though.
-
Jon Ralph on Fox Footy said the AFL will oppose Geelong's request as the MCG has a contract.
-
RFC response:
2017 :cheers
2021 :banghead
The G just doesn't seem to do us any favours this season, the fortress has been well and truly destroyed.
-
No issue at all
If it means the game's in Victoria then go for it
What difference does that make?
Means players are in their own homes and with their families
That's a good thing

"Not going to happen. The AFL wants it at the M.C.G." - Jon Ralph.

LOL - Salty Scotty will be ropable
-
Tom Browne on Ch 7 just now said the same thing. The AFL wants the game at the MCG. He also said those at the Cattery will be disappointed :snidegrin.
-
If it’s still lockdown in Melbourne?
-
Tom Browne on Ch 7 just now said the same thing. The AFL wants the game at the MCG. He also said those at the Cattery will be disappointed :snidegrin.
Good to see someone at the AFL knows that the majority of decisions Shocking made were in a bid to bring down Richmond for Geesook's benefit and have had enough.
-
Cats should be furious over lack of AFL integrity
They can’t get home finals and now, when no crowds are allowed at football, they can’t get a home game played at home. It’s not right, writes Mark Robinson.

------------------------------
Sam Edmund on SEN said Geelong are still sooking about this.
The AFL has said they have contractual and commercial (signage) reasons why they game needs to be at the M.C.G.
-
Geelong are 100% right to be filthy about this
It’s a Geelong home game
-
Geelong are 100% right to be filthy about this
It’s a Geelong home game
Correct.
And they are happy to put their money out for the funds that come their way when AFL equalisation grants that tin pot operation a subsidy for not being able to stand on their own 2 feet.
To contribute back, they gain games at the MCG and also the profit that teams with real supporters like Richmond provide by giving them large crowds.
Seems to me, Cats want the cake, cream and the canary all at once.
-
Geelong deserve nothing....stuff 'em... :thumbsdown

WHY AFL REJECTED GEELONG’S REQUEST TO HOST RICHMOND AT GMHBA STADIUM
By Alex Zaia
SEN
19 July 2021
The AFL has rejected Geelong’s request to move their Round 19 clash against Richmond from the MCG to GMHBA Stadium, reports SEN’s Sam Edmund.
The Cats are scheduled to host the Tigers at the MCG on Sunday which is almost certain to be played without a crowd due to Victoria’s latest COVID outbreak.
Edmund understands that a “commercial consideration” around signage was a sticking point as well as a contractual obligation for the AFL to play a certain number of matches at the MCG.
“The Cats put the request in. They’re frustrated to say the least,” he told SEN Breakfast.
“They’re told they can’t play the game there because there’s a commercial consideration around signage. The Cats don’t own all of the signage at the ‘G, so there will be signage issues and sponsorship issues at the MCG.
“And the contract stipulates a certain number of games need to be held at the MCG as well, so there would need to be a make-up game.
“As we’ve seen, they’ve got no hesitation in taking games from other venues.
“The question has to be asked: What happens come finals time, and we hope this isn’t the case, but if there are no crowds allowed in and the Cats finish top two or they get a home final – do they get a home final?”
Melbourne great Garry Lyon said in response: “No-brainer.”
Richmond’s last game at GMHBA Stadium was a loss to Geelong in Round 21 of the 2017 season - the year they broke their 37-year premiership drought.
The Cats beat the Tigers in this year’s first Grand Final rematch by 63 points in Round 8.

Spot on. They are whingers that had everything they wanted handed to them by Shocking for the last 3 years. They were on the way out before he rewrote the rules to suit them.

Cats scores at MCG this year.
69, 60, 126, 61, 70.
No Jez in 3 of the 4 low scoring games.
Yes the tigers game is the outlier but if we don’t score more than 80 this week it’s a tad worrying I would’ve thought.

Ross Lyon & Matthew Lloyd looked at our game last night on Footy Classified.
The two areas they said we can exploit against Geelong are:
1. Ruck:
Nankervis vs Stanley head-to-head
Nankervis Stanley
Contested possies: 11.1 (elite) 7.0
Hitout win % 43.1 32.7 (below avg)
Tackles 3.3 1.5 (below avg)
https://twitter.com/FootyonNine/status/1417834404261531651
2. Our forwards match up well on Geelong's defenders:
Match-ups
Lynch Henderson
Riewoldt Henry
Chol Kolodjashnij (?)
Baker Stewart
Castagna Bews
Aarts Atkins
-
Stewart might go to Jack given we don't have Dusty. Blicavs possibly to Lynch. Frees up Henderson to towel up Chol, or possibly Henry on Jack with Stewart roaming around spare.
Won't be easy.
-
Geelong coach Chris Scott said the Cats couldn't fall into the trap of underestimating the Tigers missing the three-time Norm Smith medallist.
"Our suspicion is, given they've been so successful with a really structured plan and operation over the last few years, even though he's the best player in the comp, there will be another really good player who comes in and plays a similar role to him," Scott said.
"Or we could take a different view, which I think would be a mistake, and that is to assume that they're going to be less potent without him. I think they've shown over a long period of time they can replace really, really high-level players with guys who can come in and do the job."
-----
Scott said the Cats had quickly moved on after having their request to shift their home game against the reigning premiers from the MCG to GMHBA Stadium denied.
"I prefer to look at it more from the other side which is, when we're in an environment where the AFL are in an impossible situation trying to manage everything, if this is an issue that slips down the priority list, I think all fair-minded people should be able to live with that and that includes us," Scott said.
Scott also called on the AFL to explain their "ethical framework" when it came to venue decisions for finals as soon as this year.
----
Scott also confirmed Shaun Higgins, who will play his 250th match on Sunday, had been cleared of his staging fine stemming from the Cats' win against Fremantle last week.
Gary Rohan (corked quad) and Lachie Henderson (personal reasons) will also return after missing last week.

Stevic used to give us a very raw deal prior to 2017 but has been much better since.
Meredith is fine.
De Boy really is the worst. His performances against Richmond surely warrant investigation by the Ump committee.

Tigers underdogs for MCG clash with Cats
Shayne Hope
AAP
July 23, 2021
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has been quick to claim underdog status for an MCG heavyweight clash with Geelong he concedes "probably" should be being played down the highway.
The Tigers will be without superstar Dustin Martin after a serious kidney injury sidelined the match-winner for the rest of the AFL season.
But the ninth-placed Tigers are clinging to hopes they can spread Martin's workload across the team and remain in the finals hunt as they pursue a fourth premiership in five years.
Geelong thrashed Richmond by 63 points in their most recent meeting - at the MCG in round eight - and have held opponents to just 44 points a game on a current three-match winning streak that has put them within half a win of top spot.
"They've been playing a very consistent brand of footy," Hardwick said.
"We've got a challenge, there's no doubt about it, but we've been in these situations before and we've come out on top.
"It's very much an underdog status for us but we're looking forward to an enormous challenge versus a very good Geelong."
Once a crowd was ruled out because of Victoria's latest COVID-19 lockdown, Geelong sought to have Sunday's home game moved from the MCG to their regular base at GMHBA Stadium.
But the move was rebuffed by the AFL, which cited contractual obligations at the MCG.
"We're always happy to play at the 'G; for me, that's where the big games get played," Hardwick said.
"But we can understand Geelong requesting the game (be played) down there.
"It probably made sense to us, as well, with no crowd and it is their home game."
Hardwick conceded Martin was a “hard player to replace”, but the return of veteran Shane Edwards for Sunday’s clash with Geelong could help offset that.
“We’ve got some players we think can fulfil that role in a different manner that we are excited to be given an opportunity to and see how that pans out,” he said.
“But if we’re looking for one player to replace Dustin Martin, we are going to be found short in that regard. It will certainly be a team effort. It will give us a different look.

Geelong v Richmond prediction
Kingy says: “I think they’ll drive the final nail in the coffin for the Tiges and make a bit of a statement.
“I’m thinking it will be well north of 16.5.”
Kingy’s pick: Geelong at the line (-16.5).
Sammy says: “I tend to agree.”

Need to play the territory game in the wet today. So all those quick taps and knock-ons we used against Brisbane to break open their defensive structure will again come in handy.
The key for us is going to be at least matching the Cats in the contests and post-clearance stuff. They smashed us in that department last time simply breaking out of our tackles and out of the front of contests making it hard to defend.

NO LATE CHANGES
MEDICAL SUBSTITUTES

George :banghead.

This chip chip footy won't work if no one is running hard to present.
Gave them enough chances to score :banghead.
0 - 6

Fumbles

Skills are deplorable
-
U10s skills :banghead. Can we miss any more open targets?! :banghead.

Jack overkicks it but luckily all the Cat defenders misjudge it and Cotch marks 35 out. Misses.
1 - 6
We haven't had one clean chain of possession yet :scream.

That's HTB against Stanley.
Bolton sprays the snap.
2 - 6

HTB is non existent

Another HTB not paid to us ::).

Selwood throw-a-thon is in full swing.

Dumb entry Jayden. 1-vs-4. Needed to lower the eyes.

Sheds off maybe again with that ankle :-\.

LOL Dangerhog.

Thanks Blicavs for that howler. Good forward pressure and Jack rolls it through :gotigers.
Rich 1.2-8
Geel 1.0-6

Too easy out of the middle
Easy goal to Hawkins :scream
-
Who is on the defensive side of the centre bounce. Poor poor set up.

Didn't protect the defensive side at the centrebounce :banghead. Parker got sucked into the honeypot.

Astbury gives away another hold free
Very bad habit these days :banghead
-
Good hit Stacky!
-
I know it sounds stupid
But I do wonder what impact zero crowds has on the scoring?

Shocking defence, terrible by Nankervis
Very soft goal gifted to Stanley
-
Terrible defending for a long bomb. Right before 1/4 time too :banghead.
8 - 18
-
Just lack polish.

Astbury gives away another hold free
Very bad habit these days :banghead
A habit that the opposition get away with.

To slow of the blocks and some poor decisions let's hope we wake up a bit.

True but Dafe has a tendency to make it so, so obvious....

I think we are having a dip but lacking class.
-
Is Edwards done yet?
-
1/4 time
Richmond 1.2-8
Geelong 3.0-18
Goal: Riewoldt.
Trying (in more ways than one) but we're not going to win playing this rubbish. Especially if we can't hit targets by hand or foot. This is the junk footy we saw in the month prior to the Brisbane game.
-
What do we have to do win a htb decision? :banghead
Why are opposition players constantly allowed to hold our players off the ball? :banghead :banghead
Why do people still think Short's an elite kick? :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Is Edwards done yet?
He's out there in the huddle so fingers crossed :pray.
-
Cotchin not clearing the footy out of defence was absolutely terrible from a decorated captain. Worst still he kicked it straight into the lap of the softest prick in AFL footy, unforgivable. :banghead
Cotch needs to be better then that also should’ve went for the goal himself instead of passing it to the worst kick in AFL footy (Castagna) in a worse position. :banghead :banghead
-
Two leaders now not clearing the footy beyond our defensive 50 :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Seriously, the Hawkins kick why wasn't that PUNCHED through
That's under 13s basics
-
Bolts at times needs to stop trying to out shimmy every opponent. We're playing 3 tall forwards. Just get it forward quickly.
Lucky there too Grimesy.
Are our boys wearing the wrong boots today? :P.
8 - 19
-
Bloody fumbles :banghead. A chance of a goal and we stuff it up :banghead.

Bolton :banghead :banghead

Give up a 50 and then ballwatching in defence :banghead.
Lucky they miss.

Could lynch play any worse?
He’s not leading. He’s useless in any ruck contest.
He is causing 50 metre penalties.
Worst game ever!
Lead

No, game plan is one leads = Jack
Tom planks on the goal square.
I don't like it but that's what why do. It's stupid but they've been doing it all season
-
Loving the new forward rule, if it's in their forward line, free kick.

This game is almost done :banghead
-
No need to give a free there Grimesy with Mansell coming across.
9 - 26
Dumb footy.
-
Team out there just not in the same class. Their trying but not good enough. Pressure is starting to drop off.
This will be an 80 point drubbing.
-
This game is almost done :banghead
They grt another soft one
All up none down
We need to get the next one or it's over
-
Just 3 tackles this qtr.
Too easy for Geelong.
9 - 32
-
Anything good on at the Olympics?
-
That was pathetic by Piclett
He needed to apply some sort of pressure make a contest
He failed
Going early
We are done
-
Why was that a free kick in the middle?
-
Game over. This could end up a 100 point flogging :help.
9 - 38
Workrate and teamwork has completely fallen away.
-
Flood gates are gone… we have zero polish or composure. They are a much more physical team than us. No point getting it forward, we are soft as butter down there with zero skill.
-
Not working hard enough same issues passengers poor skills you name it.
-
Stupid by Grimes
-
We can't do anything right today even when Geelong kicks it straight to us.
Pickett misses.
10 - 39
-
Skills are a disgrace.
I'm about finished. Not interested in watching any more.
-
Please don't say it's because no Dusty
Too many not interested
That's the thing I can't handle, no intensity, no fight, no ticker
-
They run it up the other end and goal.
10 - 45
Can handle losing but not when we dish up this soft rubbish :scream.
-
NO SKILLS AND POOR FORWARD SYSTEM
-
This is embarrassing
After last week we had hope
Today they are decimating any hope we had
Gutted
-
NO SKILLS!
-
Turn it off guys, you'll have a much better afternoon
-
Too many guys not prepared to cop the hit. Stick one hand in a contest or have eyes for the on-coming man rather than taking possession. Pickett, Short (x10), and so many other players scared of contact.
-
It's all above the shoulders. Didn't turn up hungry and switched on. It shows with all these fumbles and basic skill errors.
A training drill for Geelong. 5 goals from just 8 inside 50s this qtr.
10 - 50
-
Lynch leads once and guess what? He takes a mark!
Unbelievable, who would’ve thought you could take a mark when leading?
Well done Lynch. Just maybe don’t then kick it into the man on the mark. :banghead :banghead
:rollin :help :banghead
-
Put a few out for the year, lets make this draft pick as early as possible.

Rioli looks good at half back again. :thumbsup

Well done Lynch. Just maybe don’t then kick it into the man on the mark. :banghead :banghead

Yeah but did you look at the setup further ahead?
Lynch led but Chol was plunked near the goal square. As I said only one is to lead
Lynch's tunr that time
The whole set up doesn't work
Have no idea why we've changed it so much since 2019, 2020
Stupidity
-
Lynch looks like he couldn't give a fat rats clacker
-
Surprised after last week's effort vs Lions. Look stuffed
-
I just don't understand why we play Aarts and Castagna when they give us nothing every week.
-
Surprised after last week's effort vs Lions. Look stuffed
Our players don't seem to be able to switch on if there is no crowd
As MT all above the shoulders. Clearly on so many levels :banghead
-
They aren't on their pat malone
-
Need a mercy rule.
Half-time
Richmond 1.2 1.4-10
Geelong 3.0 8.3-51
Pathetic. Outworked and as WP said worst of all too many Tigers out there were disinterested. Not willing to go when they had to and put their bodies on the line to win the footy. Injuries can't be used as an excuse when you don't even do the basics.
Rioli is one who can hold his head up.
Can't blame Garth either when the ball is coming in with no pressure from our mids.
Most disappointing is our senior leaders are having a mare.
-
Not only has our tackling has been pathetic this year but so many of players just get sidestepped and wrongfooted with ease...clearly not watching the hips... :banghead
-
Their half backs are playing uncontested football while Aarts and Co are spectators. This is ridiculous they are defensive forwards.
-
Lynch leads once and guess what? He takes a mark!
Unbelievable, who would’ve thought you could take a mark when leading?

So you think Lynch is doing ok then :lol :rollin
He’s playing rubbish and you can give him excuses if you want but he should be ashamed and embarrassed of himself.
Personally I’d drop him to the twos on this performance alone.
-
To be expected
-
They aren't on their pat malone
Hardwick asleep at the wheel... :shh
-
I just don't understand why we play Aarts and Castagna when they give us nothing every week.
Everyone can see it except Dimma and the match committee. We're playing two down before the siren even sounds. They've offered nothing offensively this year and worst still they don't hold opposition defenders accountable. Always lost in no man's land.
IMO it's an illustration of a drop off in standards this year. No value or pressure on spots in the team to force a lift in performance and a desperation to remain in the side.
-
Aarts & Cantkickit shouldn't just be dropped, they should both be stuffing delisted...:thumbsdown
-
Our lowest half-time since that 2017 St Kilda game at Docklands. Has the same feel too. Mentally asleep from the start.
-
Only way George was going to get a touch. Held by the arm without it by Danger. Goal!
Rich 2.4-16
Geel 8.3-51
Comeback on ;D.
-
So you think Lynch is doing ok then :lol :rollin
He’s playing rubbish and you can give him excuses if you want but he should be ashamed and embarrassed of himself.

Did I say he was playing well? NO!
He is having a shocker. Like another 18 blokes
But the point I was making and you won't acknowledge is that part of the issue is the forwards set up and plan
If he's been told like the other forwards that one has to stand like a statue in the square while the other key forward leads then no matter how frustrating, stupid it maybe then he is playing his role.
Like I said I hate it, makes no sense at all but it is the plan. It is the idiotic, stupid plan that isn't working and is costing us
-
And that's why we don't score. Mid running freely through the centre square and no one leads up to him so the kick is long to a contest :scream.
-
Aarts & Cantkickit shouldn't just be dropped, they should both be stuffing delisted...:thumbsdown
..and then they kick the next two.... :santa
-
It's not pretty but another goal. Aarts.
Finally had numbers at the fall of the ball.
Rich 3.4-22
Geel 8.3-51
-
So you think Lynch is doing ok then :lol :rollin
He’s playing rubbish and you can give him excuses if you want but he should be ashamed and embarrassed of himself.
Personally I’d drop him to the twos on this performance alone.

Stack kept his head there. Spots up Baker 30 out. Sprays it badly :scream
23 - 51
Misses like that can be momentum killers :scream.

Think it was
Coast to Coast
Another soft goal to Hawkins
Astbury was nowhere near him :banghead
-
Terrible defending. Kept the space open for Hawkins :facepalm.
23 - 57
And there's the payout for Baker's bad miss :banghead.

Lost commentating feed

Lynch misses
He does that far to often too
-
Chol did well on the wing.
Lynch misses too :banghead.
24 - 57
-
Two hands Bolts :scream.
There what I mean by his non efforts :banghead
-
Chol at his non competitive best.
-
Suppose they are having a dip this qtr
-
Someone tell me how George & Aarts are getting a game currently?
-
If you're going to bomb it then make sure we have numbers in the goalsquare. Not just kick it to Stewart :banghead.
Better still we need to lower our eyes.
-
Some of Pickett’s decisions are terrible.
-
LOL commentators making sound like we have a chance :lol
-
Talk about dumb happy handgrenade hospital handballs. Make it your teammate's problem :facepalm.
-
Jack is the Vice captain, he is paid to kick goals
That miss is disgraceful
-
Yet again an inept effort by Bolton
-
Jack off one step misses.
3 gettable shots missed :banghead.
25 - 57
-
Cannot stick a tackle when it counts.
-
We have a chance and we blow it. Jack, Lynch, Baker :banghead
-
An OK quarter by that I mean we were at least competitive for 75% totally undone by some just really soft efforts between the square and HF line
-
Two two goal turnarounds from our misses and the last right on the siren :banghead.
3/4 time
Richmond 1.2 1.4 3.7-25
Geelong 3.0 8.3 10.3-63
Goals: Riewoldt, Castagna, Aarts.
As the old cliche goes .... back kicking is bad footy :banghead.
-
Yet again an inept effort by Bolton
Him & Lambert are just speed bumps... :banghead

Yep
-
they tanking or they just all turn into invalids over the off season?
-
We don't deserve to be close and this is should've, would've, could've stuff but we kick those 3 goals and as a result Geelong don't kick those two coast-to-coasters then the score would've been 6.4-40 to 8.3-51. Geelong were ordinary that quarter yet we still couldn't hit targets including between two stationary posts :banghead.
-
Cotchin awful tonight.
-
Bolton has had a mare. We've got an open break and he needlessly holds onto his opponent and gifts Geelong the ball :banghead.
-
Astbury's cooked....just a spectator at this point....
-
Garthwaite :lol :rollin :help
-
Sad thing is even after this abysmal effort we can still make finals
We will go out in the 1st week
Would rather miss them, so they get it through their collective noodles that making finals isn't a given even if you have won 3 flags in 4 years....
No guarantees in this game. You have to earn it, work hard for it. We haven't worked hard enough, long enough this season
-
I thought we would drop off but this is just embarrassing
-
Astbury's cooked....just a spectator at this point....
Has been all year
So slow
-
And that contest sums up our day :facepalm.
25 - 71

Poor skills!
Poor forward system!
Poor forward entries!
-
Danger having a great game tonight after going missing in the gf last year. :clapping

LYNCH! Takes his second mark for the game. :clapping

Never said we would said we still can ::)
-
Cotchin has packed it in.
-
3 errors in a row gifting Geelong another goal :facepalm.
Bolton doesn't watch the hips and get easily run around.
Grimes drops the mark over the line.
Garth falls over.
-
Ross had two Tigers to choose from and kicks between them :facepalm.
Rushed point to us.
26 - 77
-
Presser should be good if we're honest in our answers
But it won't be, just excuses and how good Geelong are...blah, blah
-
Lol, Aarts misses the easy hit up target and we get lucky.
-
Aarts kicks it 10m over his teammate's head :facepalm.
Lynch still goals
Rich 4.8-32
Geel 12.5-77
-
When you walk into Woolies the gates open automatically and let you though…..just like our tackling.
-
4 quarters in a game of footy
We've turned up an played OK for the first and 20 minutes in the 3rd
The rest of the time we've been non competitive
-
That another easy goal to Geelong from a stoppage. That's 8 to them and none to us ::)
32 - 83
-

If it wasn't so serious it would be

Ross with the teammate killer 'pass' that's sits up high on his head.
We still get it to Lynch who misses.

I meant know offence.
-
Geelong have worked out our system.
They allow us to bomb it and they know our skills are poor!
We need a new forward system and a young forward.
We need ways to kick easy goals like Geelong do.
How can Geelong have one on one in their 50 and we don’t?
-
Least Rohan hasn't kicked 5 tonight.
-
Our defenders have no chance when it comes in one on one?
Where is Graham?
-
Poor Gartwaite
Feel for him yes he's been poor but struts the lack pressure through the mid field means he has no hope
-
Lol, Aarts!
-
Our defenders have no chance when it comes in one on one?
Where is Graham?
Playing half forward
-
Aarts :facepalm.
-
Cotch kicks a goal. Just his 2nd for the season.
Rich 5.9-39
Geel 14.5-89
-

Rich 5.9-39
Geel 14.5-89
Captain has been very poor
Like the majority of his team :banghead
-
Our ability to kick goals beyond 30m has been pathetic this year. That Lambert kick should have made the distance.
-
Very Average today, a pity but put those with injuries in for surgery and play the kids. Move them on if they arnt going to make it
-
We did our best to stuff that up.
Aarts with another handed to him goal.
Rich 6.9-45
Geel 14.5-89
-
Poor Gartwaite
Feel for him yes he's been poor but struts the lack pressure through the mid field means he has no hope
Considering how the ball has been delivered to the Geelong towards the backs have done reasonable. We have 4 of our starting backs out. Midfield and towards have been terrible.
-
How many goals have we conceded from our dropped marks this year? 100?
-
Was that 50 for abuse from Aarts?
Gifts Geelong another goal :scream.
45 - 95
-
How many goals have we conceded from our dropped marks this year? 100?
Add fumbles and missing simple targets 20m away and it's 200 :scream.
-
Pickett weaves and hands to Jack who chips back across to Lambert 30 out. Goal!
Rich 7.9-51
Geel 15.5-95
-
Aarts keep getting games vfl footballer.
-
38 Point margin flatters us
-
Doesn't mean anything but that was a great shot by Jack after the siren from the pocket 45 out :clapping.
Lost 57 - 95
-
A few our leaders have gone missing to much this season.
-
Our leaders have all had rubbish games.
Even grimes was poor tonight.
Cotchin only 9 effective disposals.
When your captain is only 47% there’s not much hope.
Reiwoldt did ok for being double teamed but missed some easy goals.
Nank was solid but made the some errors too.
Credit to Geelong though. I reckon it’s probably there’s too lose with the experience of their team.
-
Final Score
Richmond 1.2 1.4 3.7 8.9-57
Geelong 3.0 8.3 10.3 15.5-95
Goals: Riewoldt 2, Aarts 2, Lynch, Castagna, Cotchin, Lambert.
As WP said the scoreboard flattered us.
-
Aarts keep getting games vfl footballer.
Agree but he’s better then Castagna.

Anyone but Geelong, I'm praying.
-
I know it sounds petty
I know it is part of our DNA as a club, team
But... when you're getting spanked, you've been at times non competitive I don't want to see our Captain sitting on the bench laughing
Just not a good look

Anyone who thinks that game was funny doesn't luv the Tigers. Time for him to go.
-
We have some sprayers in our team.
If already mentioned cotchins poor disposals but Ross is a terrible kick. Baker was better last year but this year he’s just hasn’t had the poise and his kicking has really let him down tonight was an example of that.
Edwards has been poor since returning and we have two of the worst kicks in history in Aarts and Castagna.
-
Ross should be on ball....and why was Parker at the centre bounces when he's never played there? :banghead
-
Ross should be on ball....and why was Parker at the centre bounces when he's never played there? :banghead
But Parker did well when he was in the middle
He was competitive, gave a contest
He wasn't our worst. Actually is 1 of about 5 who can hold their head up
-
For our group to push forward Aarts and George have to be replaced. Not sold on Ross. How we see Garthwaite ?.

Garthwaite was great early, made that bad mistake in the second quarter and was beaten after that.
-
Ross should be on ball....and why was Parker at the centre bounces when he's never played there? :banghead
I would be playing both Ross and Graham in the guts. Parker was good today but can do that on a wing.

Graham is being wasted with this obsession of playing him at HF :scream
-
Yep Graham needs to be primarily on ball as well....and Pickett's another one who's better in the guts.....getting smashed at stoppages, in the clearances, in the contest and we've got all these natural on-ballers playing outside roles... :banghead

It was always going to be tough to beat Geelong with the injuries we have got but I think we should have played some of the younger players. Whilst it would not have changed the result it would have given valuable experience to younger players like Dow.
