Norwood oval 165 x 110
Kardinya park 170 x 115
Stadium Australia 160 - 118
Probably the two closest AFL grounds to Norwood.

He will definitely debut this week

Richmond v St Kilda Preview
Hugh Fitzpatrick
SEN
4 April 2024
Richmond and St Kilda will make history in the AFL being the first two Victorian teams to play for premiership points at Norwood Oval.
The Tigers head to Adelaide in form having knocked off what many considered the premiership favourites in the Sydney Swans in a terrific performance from an undermanned outfit.
But unfortunately for Adem Yze and the Tigers, that win came at a big loss with Tom Lynch (hamstring), Noah Balta (knee) and Liam Baker (suspended) all coming out of the side for this clash.
They'll likely welcome back Dustin Martin, Dylan Grimes and Jack Graham for this but Lynch, Balta and Baker will be so hard to replace.
As for the Saints, they dominated so much of the game against Essendon last week but still squandered four vital points.
Max King will return to the side this week which is crucial for their structure and he could certainly stretch Richmond's undersized defence.
St Kilda's biggest strength is their defence and with Richmond losing three of their attacking stars, they really should restrict the Tigers to under 10 goals.
Norwood Oval is a narrow ground which won't suit the Saints so you should expect to see a contested game and quite possibly a low scoring affair.
Tough game to tip but you can't side with Richmond with those outs.
Tip: St Kilda by 25 points.

We’ve been strong in contested footy this year post round zero. Won the contested pill in all 3 games against strong contested ball winning teams. Ground might suit us, would like a smaller forward line to keep that i50 tackle count from last weekend up

Decimated Tigers ponder more forward time for Martin
By AAP
5 April 2024
RICHMOND will contemplate giving Dustin Martin longer stints up forward against St Kilda in an attempt to fill the gaping hole in attack left by injuries to Tom Lynch and Noah Balta.
Martin is due to return from a corked calf against the Saints and, given his explosiveness inside 50, coach Adem Yze will be tempted to play him, and potentially Shai Bolton, forward of the ball even more than usual.
"Obviously having Dustin back in the side's a great thing for our group and our team," Yze said on Friday.
"He'll still have a mixture of inside midfield time and forward, Shai's doing the same.
"So we're looking to balance our team later this afternoon, but to have him available is great for our group.
"Obviously two quality forwards and experienced forwards going out, his organisation in our front end's going to be really important for us and we can't wait to have him back out there."
Yze admitted Lynch's injury, which will sideline the big man for up to three months after he missed most of last year with a foot injury, had been particularly "gut-wrenching".
Norwood Oval's playing surface is close to 30m narrower than the MCG, and the Tigers marked out narrower wings on Punt Road at Friday's training in a bid to acclimatise.
"There might be more stoppages, so we've got to consider maybe a second ruck, things like that," Yze said.
The Tigers are unlikely to make any defensive tweaks, backing Ben Miller and Tylar Young to handle St Kilda spearhead Max King, who is returning from suspension.

Richmond have altered the dimensions of Punt Rd Oval in preparation for their game against St. Kilda at the thin Norwood Oval.
Dotted line is the new boundary.

THE CERTAINTIES FOR THE REST OF GATHER ROUND
Andrew Slevison
SEN
6 April 2024
Richmond verus St Kilda
Vlastuin to have 15+ disposals, 5+ marks, 3+ rebound 50s
Nick Vlastuin is in All-Australian form to start 2024.
The Richmond defender is averaging career bests with 22.2 disposals, 8 marks and 7.8 rebounds 50s across four games this season.
He has a pretty decent record against St Kilda in recent times, averaging 19.8 disposals, 6.5 marks and 3.8 rebounds 50s in his last six.
Given his hot form right now, we’re backing Vlastuin to again have an impact this time at Norwood Oval with at the very least 15 disposals, 5 marks and 5 rebound 50s.
Ross to have 20+ disposals, 3+ clearances
Seb Ross has put forward some strong recent performances for St Kilda.
Round 1 aside when he had 10 touches and was subbed off against Geelong, he’s been great the last two weeks.
He had 22 touches and 4 clearances against Collingwood in Round 2 before racking up 28 and 6 against Essendon last weekend.
In his last three against the Tigers he’s averaged 26 touches and 4.3 clearances so we’re with him to deliver again in this clash.
The 20-disposal mark should be bare minimum for Ross who should also contribute with at least 3 clearances.

St Kilda coach Ross Lyon believes Yze's antics are over the top, refusing to go to the lengths the Tigers have to ready themselves for the slim ground.

-
stuff off Ross Lyon
Worry about your own lot
-
Hope we bring the pressure and fight again today. Gonna be a contested game.
The team we field today I think is probably what we all wanted to see coming into the year. Playing lots of kids, finding out who’s worth keeping and who’s not.
Sonesie,McCauliffe,Brown,Dow,Campbell,Miller,Lefau,Mansell. Couple of guys around the 24 mark there but with limited experience. Last week just about everyone there showed some promise so need to build on that. We need this group to pull through otherwise we are totally stuffed for a long time imo.
Gotta say I’ve been surprised the most by Campbell and mansell, didn’t expect much especially from Campbell but he looks like a beauty.
-
Just hope the kids play well.
-
Mansells composure with the ball at high half fwd is a real
Strong point. Basically opposite of Castagna
-
Lefau with the don't argue :thumbsup.
-
Graham couldn’t have been talking to Campbell then when he was being chased
-
Hurting them on the counter/surge footy so far.
Lefau goal :gotigers
Rich 2.1-13
StK 0.1-1

Where has this version of Miller come from? Looks so composed down back. More of this please
-
Shai kicks the hard ones :bow.
Rich 3.1-19
StK 0.1-1
-

Agree. Like a new player this year since he's come in.
-
Coast to coast. Floss to Campbell to Bolton = goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.1-25
StK 0.2-2
-
WOW what speed !!!!! That was incredible
-
Dow done an ankle or knee by the looks
-
WOW what speed !!!!! That was incredible
Wonder if Ross Lyon still thinks preparing for the size of ground was a bad idea
-
Short pleading to the ump every time he stands the mark is pooting me.
-
So kicking in danger isn't a rule anymore?
-
Stupid and incredibly selfish by Pickett :banghead
-
Stupid and incredibly selfish by Pickett :banghead
Then runs straight into a tackler. For every good tackle or act he does, he unfortunately does about 3 stupid ones
-
Quarter time
Richmond 4.1-25
St Kilda 0.4-4
Goals: Bolton 2, M.Rioli, Lefau
First 15 mins we made the most of our F50 entries and chances. Last 10 mins we butchered our in50s trying to be too cute.
-
Stupid and incredibly selfish by Pickett :banghead

I was actually talking about taking on the tackler and failing. He had a teammate free ahead. Handball over the top and easy shot at goal goes begging. Incredibly selfsih
-
Is Dow gonna get subbed ? Really bad rolled ankle
-
QT stats:
Dusty 11 disposals
Short 10

Is Dow gonna get subbed ? Really bad rolled ankle
Restrapped his ankle and he's back on to start to the 2nd.
-
Terrible D50 defending Tiges. No one in the space. Lucky their set shot was shanked.
-
What the .... Shai?
-
And there is one of
Boltons inexcusably dumb plays for the game
-
Why hasn’t Dow been subbed ? He had to basically walk from
The far wing while play was near by
-
Young is a spud, done well with his abilities but he isn’t good enough for the big key forwards
-
Nice mark by Brown against Membrey. Long shot from 55 misses.
26 - 5
-
Shorts in bad form. His greatest asset has been really bad
-
Nank to Lefau on 50 by the boundary. Misses.
27 - 5
-
How about we stop giving it to short every opportunity we get. His kicking is WAY off
-
stuffen Pickett can’t kick at all today
-
Dumb Tiges. Another soft late red time goal conceded :scream.
-
Dan Rioli shocking kick
His turnover gifts that grub Higgins a goal
-
You just get the feeling the damn wall is going to burst open for the Saints I'm the 2nd half.
Our kicking is killing us.
Ross Lyon has completely shut the game down.
C'mon Kosi
-
Kosi goal
Well done young man we desperately needed that
-
Kosi with an important goal right on the siren :gotigers.
Half-time
Richmond 4.1 5.3-33
St Kilda 0.4 1.5-11
Goals: Bolton 2, M.Rioli, Lefau, Koschitzke.

Ross Lyon has completely shut the game down.
C'mon Kosi
We both wasted opportunities. Feel the game is pretty even but we look more dangerous going fwd. there’s no reason we don’t win this game
-
Seriously how good is this kid Brown.. what class composure and skill.
-
stuffen Pickett can’t kick at all today
Both sides are sacking it, even Dusty. I think the wind is tricky but it shouldn't affect the ball hitting the boot. Hard to explain.
-
that grub Higgins
Why is he a grub?
Pretty harsh insult
Just curious as to what makes him so bad? He requested a trade from the club.
But must be another reason?
-
Seriously how good is this kid Brown.. what class composure and skill.
Very
Will be the star from that draft year for us

Don’t have to delete
Was just curious
I had an experience with my daughter where he was outstanding. Went above and beyond and it made her night. Was definitely better than Riewoldt in how he handled things with her.
Not hard to be nice to a young kid , but he was sensational , kneeling down and shaking her hand etc and giving her hair a rough up and talked to her for a couple of minutes and cracked a couple of lame jokes.
I’ll always be thankful for his conduct with her.
-
Im done with Pickett
-
Losing our heads. Going for poor options.
-
Pressure is right off too, 2-3 steps off
-
Just dumb footy going forward
One too many handballs everytime
-
Our skills have absolutely vanished. Every movement forward is being broken up by a missed kick or handball or fumble.
-
Im done with Pickett
Standing and watching a contest a couple of metres away was a bad look
We are in all sorts of trouble here
-
You'd think we've not come out of the rooms
Headless chooks now
-
Im done with Pickett
Standing and watching a contest a couple of metres away was a bad look
We are in all sorts of trouble here
It was disgraceful , pathetic
-
Reckon Ben Miller has been pretty good
-
No positives this quarter. How we can look like 2 different teams to this extent is just crazy.
Get McCauliffe on, may as well
-
Might be sub time given we've got a contested ballwinner as sub. We're not getting our hands on the ball until it's deep in defence under pressure.
-
Jayden Short should be dropped after that one handed effort
-
Might be sub time given we've got a contested ballwinner as sub. We're not getting our hands on the ball until it's deep in defence under pressure.
100% agree
Get him on NOW
-
Disposal out of the backline has been disgraceful
-
That is why MJ is in this side
-
THATS WHY MAURICE IS IN THE TEAM. FIRE UP
-
Yes it seems every time Pickett goes near it he stuffs it up. Sub him.
-
Bolton goal against the run off play :gotigers.
Can thank Maurice for that. Nailed Bonner and won the turnover.
Rich 6.3-39
StK 4.9-33
-
Yes it seems every time Pickett goes near it he stuffs it up. Sub him.
Agree
He's been woeful
-
King goals
How was he allowed to do that
Saints in front :banghead
-
Damn wall bulging
-
What a stuffen joke!
-
Every time short kicks it something bad happens
-
Game just about done.
Lost all our intensity and getting flogged around the ball
-
Worst game shorts ever played surely
-
Just been smashed out of the centre and contested footy this quarter.
-
Lots of time left. Don’t doubt this group
-
Worst game shorts ever played surely
He has been woeful this year. HTF he got one of the leadership positions is beyond me.
-
Bolton
Goooooallll :gotigers
-
Shai with contested mark on 50 and the huge swinging curve on the kick. Gets his 4th :gotigers.
Rich 7.3-45
StK 6.10-46
-
Worst game shorts ever played surely

Yep he deserves to be dropped, and I’m usually a advocate of short. He isn’t trying to hit targets at all, just slaps it on the boot every time whether it’s a snap around the corner or whatever
-
Just been smashed out of the centre and contested footy this quarter.
Yep time for the sub
-
Watch the bloody hips :banghead.
-
Shai with contested mark on 50 and the huge swinging curve on the kick. Gets his 4th :gotigers.
Rich 7.3-45
StK 6.10-46
Saints 5.5 this qtr on a ground that's meant to be hard to score at. Bloody disappointing
-
Dow out
McAuliffe in
-
Another soft dumb late red time goal conceded :banghead.
-
Dunno what's happened this quarter but we look absolutely dog poo
-
Dow out
McAuliffe in
20 mins too late
-
Still in it. Dropped in pressure which can happen but the skills just went to water can barely even hit the ball and when we do it’s straight to saints
-
Pathetic quarter
No run, dumb decision making and we went forward our forwards were too stagnant
Total opposite of the 1st half
Pathetic
-
The attempts to tackle that quarter were woeful
-
Dow out
McAuliffe in
20 mins too late
90 mins too late
wtf was Yze thinking?
When is the club going to realise he is hopeless.
-
3/4 time
Richmond 4.1 5.3 7.3-45
St Kilda 0.4 1.5 7.11-53
Goals: Bolton 4, M.Rioli, Lefau, Koschitzke.
Just got bullied too easily in the contest that quarter, applied no pressure and lost our structure forward of the ball. Soft as. Yze needs to give them a blast.
-
Dow out
McAuliffe in
20 mins too late
90 mins too late
wtf was Yze thinking?
When is the club going to realise he is hopeless.
lol 😂
Yes, 90, you’re correct
But you know what I meant
They had all the run and we couldn’t get our hands on it .. should have been done sooner
-
FFS another goal in the last minute.
Picking Graham over McAuliffe and Kosi over Naishsmith or even Ryan were always going to end in tears. Step the f up Yze or you can pee off
-
Dow had been good by his standards
-
Where was Nank? The tall back?
Marshall v Short
Seriously :help :banghead
Where's my fork?
-
Okay nank no point smashing it fwd straight to Sinclair running off half back
-
Fwd line completely dysfunctional
-
Graham, Pickett, Kosi been very average.
-
Well done Sonsie
But seriously why was that reviewd?
FFS
-
Can’t help but feel like with lynch and balta we win, Kosi and lefau just aren’t up to scratch. Although lefau has competed really well
-
Why was that reviewed? ::) It was a clear goal to Sonsie :gotigers
Rich 8.4-52
StK 8.11-59
-
Well get him off
FFS
-
Another great run down tackle by Maurice :clapping.
-
Poor by Nick Vlastuin
Poor kick and then Poor defence against Membrey
-
Can’t help but feel like with lynch and balta we win, Kosi and lefau just aren’t up to scratch. Although lefau has competed really well
Just one of them and I reckon we win
Lefau despite making contests hasn't got the smarts
Getting easily out marked
-
Great another injury and it's McAuliffe :(.
-
If McCauliffe has a serious injury we officially have a curse on us
-
Missing Lynch big time this quarter. No big key forward to contest.
-
Reckon the kiwi has been bloody poor
-
Goal to them
We are done
Need 3 in 10 mins
-
Well we better get used to this coz balta and lynch won’t be back soon. Ryan isn’t even any better than these two imo
-
Lmao Kosi is stuffen useless
-
Reckon the kiwi has been bloody poor
Would've been subbed off IMO if Dow wasn't injured. Lefau's inexperience and lack of footy nous you instinctively learn growing up with the sport has sadly showed today.
-
Can't lose sight of the fact we've kicked 4 goals after half time
Unless your 10 goals up you ain't going to win many games
-
Can't lose sight of the fact we've kicked 4 goals after half time
Unless your 10 goals up you ain't going to win many games
Make that 5
-
Maurice goal :gotigers.
Still hanging in there.
Rich 9.4-58
StK 9.12-66
-
“One of the most famous names at St Kilda, Maurice Rioli”
Who pays these idiots
-
Should we have played Ryan over Kosi.
Thought Kosi has looked better in the ruck than forward.
-
Geez aside from Shai we've been hopeless inside F50 after quarter time. Lynch plays and we would win this.
-
Idiotic by Graham
-
Should we have played Ryan over Kosi.
Thought Kosi has looked better in the ruck than forward.
Agree with Kosi in the ruck
Don't agree re Ryan
-
How was that not HTB against Butler? ::)
-
Some glaring holes in our list on display today. Lynch won’t play for ever, lucky to get another season, so then what? We have to watch Kosi?
We need kpf and kpd coz young isn’t up to it either
-
How was that not HTB against Butler? ::)
Was blatant
But they’ve looked after us today
-
Saint sitting duck after the fumble and yet no one is front and square defensive side and we allow the Saints again to run it out easily :banghead.
-
Again Lefau's lack of footy smarts costs us a goal opportunity
-
Dumb footy by Brown
Lucky Hill missed
-
That’s game. Context, we are missing lynch, balta, baker, gibcus and have lost a game that we could have won with a bit more composure.
-
Our forward line has been hopeless. Not switched on at all.
-
They can't help it but our younger players have been a bit headless this last quarter
-
I see the umps have found a few frees for the saints at the last gasp
-
POSITIVE McCauliffe back on so can’t be too bad
-
Just disappointing with the 3rd quarter
Cost us any chance of winning. We blew it
But considering our outs, reasonable result
But positive is we are seeing some good signs from the cubs
-
I only saw the dying minutes but every time Sonsie turned it over
-
Two touched shots in the last 30 secs. Summed up our ineffective forward line minus Lynch. Had our chances but the game was lost in that 3rd qtr.
-
I only saw the dying minutes but every time Sonsie turned it over
He was very average
-
Our forward line has been hopeless. Not switched on at all.
Yeah, but we basically don't have one.
-
Strap in everyone because there's going to be many games like this in 24.
-
In summary, can't believe we were that close at the end. Pretty good effort considering the personnel missing. We're going to have to do something up forward. Bring in Ryan, Naismith...someone.
-
Interesting up to half time Dusty had 20 touches but only 5 after half time
Huge impact IMHO
-
Interesting up to half time Dusty had 20 touches but only 5 after half time
Huge impact IMHO
A lot went missing in the second half
-
Strap in everyone because there's going to be many games like this in 24.
And I'll take it. Would prefer wins but at least we were competitive
Many on here thought we'd get thumped
-
A lot of the older players disappointing again. Graham? 0 impact. Short ? Turnover and panic machine. Young ? Well beaten. Dusty’s lack of defensive effort looks really bad when we’re losing. Pickett dumb dumb dumb.
Sonsie being played out of position due to injuries, besides him really positive signs from the young guys. Tom browns best game. Miller solid. Dow improving. McCauliffe looked up to the pace. Maurice fantastic defensive efforts. Campbell was solid, mansell too until we became dysfunctional with our ball movemdnt
What poos me is when hopper, Prestia, grimes are ready to play they will take these kids spots. When that happens I have no reason to watch the games
-
Interesting up to half time Dusty had 20 touches but only 5 after half time
Huge impact IMHO
A lot went missing in the second half
So true
-
Short has been diabolical all year. Can’t defend, zero run, round the corner boomerangs coming out of defence all year! Nank stole a paycheck today… Lazy efforts everywhere. Marlion was lazy and just flat out selfish.
Can handle inexperienced kids making mistakes but our worst offenders are the guys in our leadership group!
-
Final Score
Richmond 4.1 5.3 7.3 9.6-60
St Kilda 0.4 1.5 7.11 9.13-67
Goals: Bolton 4, M.Rioli 2, Lefau, Koschitzke, Sonsie.
Our third 'almost' game out of 5. Kicked 4 goals in the first 15 mins and then butchered our entries and struggled to kick goals for the rest of the match. Frustrating loss but where we are at and all our key injuries, it's a positive we were a show today. However, that 3rd qtr was not acceptable and add those two late red time goals at the end of the 2nd and 3rd quarters and that's where the match was lost.
-
Shai is our best key forward option. As good as he is around the ball, we’ve just got to play him as a full time forward until atleast balta if not lynch too get back. He seems like the only one in the team that can take a contested mark.
-
Short has been diabolical all year. Can’t defend, zero run, round the corner boomerangs coming out of defence all year!
Nah mate that's unfair - have it on good authority that he only plays badly due to all the work the oppo put into him..... :shh

short.
mansell
kosi
dow
pickett
macca
rubbish the lot of em. The last 4 are barely vfl standard and the first 2 were hopeless today and in many games this year.

100%
Anyone potting Nank today needs to watch another sport and give up on AFL
As clearly no idea about what’s going on with football
-
I fully expected -like a typical Lyon coached side that Saints weren't gonna just roll over and would fight back at some point , so the third quarter wasn't a surprise at all....it was the utter stupidity and lack of composure in the last that did my head in ...like you're only a kick and half behind and you just leave oppo players free and allow uncontested mark after uncontested mark - fe did we at any point consider that we might need to put a bloke on Wilkie - let alone the blokes he just kicked it down the line to all day under no pressure? :banghead
-
These games are almost like a self fulfilling prophecy in that you can see the results coming a mile away yet there's no way of stopping it.
You could see we were going to get rolled late in the 2nd.

Considering our injury list the performance today was pleasing. Some critical errors at stages but overall not bad. Not sure Kosi should play next week as he doesn't play like a key forward at all. The looked ok as a ruck but gives nothing forward.

Not sure Ryan is any better at all. Which makes Lynch’s retirement in a year or two really scary
-
I agree with a few posters observations that kosi looked better in the ruck than down forward. With that being the case, we may as well play Ryan or Naismith instead of him.
-
Happy with effort. Maurice again was impressive as was Floss and Bolton .Kicking into forwardline really disappointing in last quarter. Kosi was completely uncompetitive in last quarter.
-
Ryan's a better key forward than Kosi - and Ryan's not a key forward.... :shh

What happens when hopper, grimes, Prestia come back ? Are we really gonna play them so we can finish 10th on the ladder and miss a good draft pick?
Serious questions gojng to be asked at the end of this year. There’s no reason we can trade hopper, like hawks did with im ears and Mitchel. They loaded up for another crack and it failed, they copped it and traded them. Last trade our mistakes before they lose all their currency.
Graham, hopper, Prestia if anyone will take him, broad, hell even baker if he wants to go.

I'd retire Prestia now.
Grimes only play to mentor Brown etc.
Hopper I would play if 100% fit.

Thought Ross deserves credit for the way he played.

Agree , plenty worse than him
He’s definitely going better than the other Jack
-
Absolutely filthy we gave that game up. But even more filthy with SHORT . HE HAS BECOME ABSOLUTELY USELESS
-
Ryan's a better key forward than Kosi - and Ryan's not a key forward.... :shh
Spot on play him Kosi lacks intensity and involvement.

Short escapes scrutiny his been a liability and I maintain trade him.Macca and Pickett the same turn over kings. I don't mind the kids making a mistake, but not senior players unforgiving.

Not sure Samson shows the great intensity and involvement that a KPF needs. His 2nd efforts or lack of them is a huge concern
Anyways....
Despite my disappointment at another loss I think what the last few weeks has shown is that we have some genuine talent coming through. And some of the Cubs are maturing with the exposure they are getting. An advantage due to the injuries (if that makes sense)
Campbell, Brown, Sonsie, Miller (he's been v-good the last 2 weeks), Banks and now McAuliffe. Throw in Balta, Ross, MRJ, Young, Bauer and the cupboard isn't as bare as the naysayers go on about
Now I'm not for a minute saying there aren't gaps that need to be addressed but there are a lot or positives and I reckon it's important we don't lose sight of those
-
Agree WP.
I think what's proven from time time and with rebuilds of teams that don't drop away is the acquisition of KP Free Agents. They are so hard to develop. Look at Ess, NM, Adel, Haw. They have really struggled to shoot up the ladder with a lack of KP players. I think our lost stocks are OK, Gibcus and Balta very important but I'd be ensuring the war chest of Dusty and Lynch money goes to acquiring a monster fwd for the nest 5-8 years. We aren't developing any decent ones so have to FA one in aka what Syd did with Buddy, Lions with Daniher, Cats with Cameron, GWS with Hogan.
Id be looking at Cadman, L.McDonald, test fellow rebuilders of a Larkay or Mitch Lewis. We aren't at a point to go get a top fwd in comp like we did Lynch. But it's the biggest area of concern for our list going forward. If we start developing Fawcett he's 5s years away minimum.
-
Honorable losses like yesterday, although painful, are probably good for us this year. We need to get access to the top end of the draft before Tassie comes in.
-
I can accept honourable losses like yesterday when we are playing so many inexperienced / fringe players . I’m loving the work of Ben Miller, Jack Ross , MRJ and Young .
Who’s not pumped to see the potential in Seth Campbell and Tom Brown .
We are going to continue to see a real stocktake of our list -which is exciting.
I get the impression some of you want to go scorched earth rebuild , I quite like the blend of experienced and youth at the moment.

Agree we have a spine in the backline with Gibcus, Miller , Brown and Young that's looking good.
With Regards to Ryan he has his flaws no doubt, but his the future not Kosi. His perfect has that forward ruck role. Give him a block of games.

Yep we'll have loads of cash available soon.
Dusty OOC this year, Lynch next year, that's about $2.5million/year.
KMac, Pickett, Prestia, Grimes all probably gone in 6-18 months, you'd think that's another $1.5-2.0million at least.
Even if we stagger them I can see another $2mil+ becoming available at the end of this year and next.
So there will be ammo in the war chest for sure.
-
I think we have the ability to develop though. I’d love to pick up a 19 year old key forward in this draft who we can watch for 10-15 years, like reiwoldt and Richo.

I think we should all be barracking our collective hearts out for more Freo losses :rollin

We have their second and third round picks already
Nothing to do with Baker

Exactly, the lower they finish the better those picks become

Geezus h Geez Bloody Jayden Short. Totally unacceptable. HOW MANY TIMES A GAME DO WE HAVE TO WATCH HIM PANIC WITH BALL IN HAND.
We got nothing in offence again from our wingers neither were involved enough.
Dow was so meh again.
The two key forwards lefau and Kosi just did not give enough.
Won't go down well but Sonz was quite again can't keep on living on a glimpse here and a glimpse there.
Brown was good imo showed poise and used the ball well.
Campbell did enough again.
MRJ two good goals two great run down tackles but again just went missing for big chunks of the game. Still don't see it with him.
Mansell like MRJ chased hard but just did not offer enough.
Miller and Young were servicable but are they the long term answer think we need to be looking for upgrades long term.
Graham well he got a reasonable amount of ball. Laid some tackles won some contested ball even had a few clearances but everything was just run of the mill stuff.
Thats enough for now thought we got out played for three quarters and did well to not lose by more
Oh yeah McAuliffe sheesh who would want to debut for us seems they have rotten luck with injury. Also bloody poor coaching by all.
Kid should have started the game and certainly should have come on at half time given the way were starting to get beaten in the midfield.

I generally enjoy your participation but sometimes I feel like a 30 touch 2 goal game wouldn't be good enough for a midfielder if they had half a quiet quarter...

WHAT THEY GOT RIGHT AND WRONG: EACH CLUB’S WINS AND WOES FROM ROUND 4

What they got right
Effort, intent and attitude
What Richmond may be lacking in skill and polish, they are making up for with effort and attitude.
Apart from the first half in Opening Round against Gold Coast, the Tigers have acquitted themselves well under Adem Yze.
They may have a need for a little bit more composure and prowess with ball in hand, but at least the effort, intent and attitude is flowing through the players.
Defensively sound
To keep any side to one goal in a half is a fairly decent, especially considering there are some inexperienced players in defence.
The Tigers kept the likes of Max King and Tim Membrey under wraps inside 50 with players such as Tylar Young (23 games) and Ben Miller (28 games) playing pivotal roles.
Despite going under by seven points, they restricted the Saints to 67 points which was their best defensive result in five games this season.
Valuable minutes into kids
The Tigers are in somewhat of a rebuilding phase so it’s important to get games into the developing players.
Tom Brown was excellent across half-back, Seth Campbell again played well as a small forward in his fifth game, Tyler Sonsie got valuable minutes, while Rhyan Mansell, Tylar Young, Ben Miller, Maurice Rioli and Mykelti Lefau all contributed.
Kane McAuliffe also debuted, coming in for the injured Thomson Down in the third quarter.
It is this group that will need to come through if things are to continue improving under Yze.
What they got wrong
Attack around the contest dissipated
After a strong start, the Tigers were out-hunted in the second half, particularly in the third quarter.
Their attack around the contest dissipated which led to another lapse where the Saints kicked three goals in just over six minutes on their way to seven scoring shots in 14 minutes.
While we did praise their effort and intent earlier, it did fall away for a 15-minute patch in the third term which in the end cost them the game.
Execution and polish
The Tigers had as much ball forward as the Saints, only having one less inside 50 (56-55).
However, the Saints were able to conjure 22 scoring shots while the Tigers could only muster 15.
A lack of polish and execution, highlighted by their 69 per cent disposal efficiency, contributed greatly to Richmond’s eventual loss.
Forward line synergy
Despite Bolton’s almost match-winning four-goal haul, not much else overly worked in attack for the Tigers.
The synergy of a brand new forward setup which includes Jacob Koschitzke, Mykelti Lefau, Tyler Sonsie, Rhyan Mansell, Seth Campbell and Maurice Rioli is going to take time.
Bolton was amazing and Dustin Martin was also very good (while spending time up the ground), but there might be some pain in and around forward 50 before it gets better.
The Tigers are already crying out for Noah Balta to return.
