Doesn't look good. Grabbed it straight away and stayed down. Now going off on a motorised stretcher. It would be great news if it isn't but it looks like an ACL :(.
Poor guy.
-
never mind the score, the last thing we need in the NAB Cup is a serious injury, and this looks to be just that. hope Nason is ok, but it doesn't look good at all.
-
According to Ch 10 Richmond docs saying they don't believe Nason has done his ACL. They have to wait for the scans though. Would be great news if that was so :pray. Let's hope our medical staff are back on the money this year after last year's stuff ups.
-
Boundary rider said that the medicos thought it may not be the ACL. :pray
They can confirm he did hyperextend the knee.
Lets hope when the knee cools down it does show no damage to the ACL.
Really feel for the kid.
-
Nason apparently walked past the Ch 10 boundary rider and gave him a smile saying he's just hyperextended it. Fingers crossed :pray
-
great news if he's escaped the acl :thumbsup
fingers crosed

I liked what I saw of him too, he was quick and hard at it. looked like he was meant to be out there not a shabby pickup at all.
-
He performed a nice strong tackle in i think the 1st quater.
Hopefully he comes back ok.
Didnt look out of place for his first game at senior level.
-
Has played against men at Central District in SA so not out of place against bigger bodies at all. Would love to see him back sooner rather than later. :pray
-
Couldn't believe what I was seeing, lets just hope, he was looking good actually, has anyone heard any more news??

Richmond remains optimistic that teenage small forward Ben Nason will not miss his first season due to a knee injury.
The Tigers feared that Nason had ruptured his right anterior cruciate ligament against Hawthorn, but general manager of football operations Craig Cameron said yesterday Nason may have escaped a reconstruction.
"We don't think it's an ACL, but he'll have scans tomorrow so we'll wait on the findings," Cameron said. "He may have just hyper-extended the knee and he could have some bone bruising."

Tiger cub Ben Nason cleared of serious injury
Bruce Matthews From: Herald Sun February 15, 2010 1:18PM
RICHMOND at least had good news today with young midfielder Ben Nason cleared of serious injury from Saturday nights NAB Cup humiliating defeat.
Scans showed Nason escaped with bone bruising to the right knee after he was carried off on a stretcher early in the match against Hawthorn in Launceston.
It was feared the 20-year-old from SA club Central District had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament when the leg buckled as he sprinted on the wing in the first half.
Whille bruising to the bone can sideline a player for up to a month, the Tigers are relieved young draft pick’s season is not over.
Adam Thomson, recruited from Port Adelaide, will be rested this week with mild concussion after being accidentally KO’d during the game.

I agree, that lateral movement in his knee looked like he was absolutely gone. Must have some tough ligaments that kid.

agree play the kids.
-
sheesh he looked half decent as well. amazing what drafting kids with decent skills can do.
will be honest though while i thought we shoul;d have targeted a tall with pick 71 i havent changed my mind on that regardless of what nason has shown and even after his promising showing i still think we needed more talls.
will say im more than happy to see kids with potential and decent skills get a go. mind you at what 20 21 this yr he needs to show something.
footskills people if they cant kick they dont play simple really.
-
Had a crack and got injured because of it.
We need more of this bloke.
Players that stand up to the opposition.
-
Loved the look of this kids game from the time we selected him, can't wait to see him out there again ASAP.

Nason cleared of serious damage
Emerging Richmond midfielder Ben Nason has been cleared of serious injury following Saturday’s NAB Cup clash with Hawthorn.
Nason left the field on a stretcher early in the match after hyper-extending his knee, but scans later showed only bone bruising.
The Tigers’ other injury concern from the match was Adam Thomson, who was also stretchered off after receiving a blow to the head, suffered mild concussion.
Daniel Jackson and Troy Simmonds, who both missed the Hawthorn match through injury, will be available for selection in Richmond’s NAB Challenge match next weekend after rejoining the main training group.
The Tigers play in Yea on Saturday February 27, against the loser of the Geelong vs North Melbourne NAB Cup match this Sunday.

Nason's mixed emotions

FOOTY has a never-ending supply of highs and lows, and dreadlocked draftee Ben Nason found both inside an hour of a game he didn't even expect to play.
Nason was stretchered from the ground in Richmond's NAB Cup clash against Hawthorn in Launceston on February 13, after his knee buckled while running for a loose ball.
The 20-year-old admitted he wasn't thinking much as he lay on the ground, but fears of a serious knee injury soon grew.
"It was just so painful when I was laying there, it felt like someone stabbed me in the knee," he said.
"In the changerooms I was a bit upset because I didn't know what to think. I thought it could have been the end of my season.
"But then the doctors said they thought it might not be so bad because it didn't blow up, so I had a bit of confidence when I was having the scans.
"I was still really worried though."
Hyper-extension and a bit of bone bruising was the eventual diagnosis, and Nason - who thought new coach Damien Hardwick might tell him to lose the follicular fashion statement - is a fortnight from resuming full training.
Nason's selection for the game had followed his first week back in training, with a quad strain keeping him from two of the Tigers' four intra-club matches.
He was surprised to say the least.
"I was so excited [when I was picked], I rang mum straight away, and she was excited and rang dad because he was at work," he said.
"But I wasn't nervous at all - I was so pumped, I couldn't believe it."
Taken by the Tigers at pick No.71 in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft, Nason had represented SANFL club Central District in the SANFL.
He had earlier crossed from Port Adelaide with the promise of more opportunities, and said that now he had been drafted he planned to make his AFL debut as soon as possible.
Able to play as a midfielder or forward, Nason has worked under forwards coach Danny Daly all summer but has realised he's registered as a defender in the AFL's Dream Team competition.
"I definitely haven't been a defender in quite a long time," he said.
"[Damien sees me as] a small forward - they haven't said one thing about being a defender.
"Everyone's been ringing me saying, 'You're a defender in Dream Team, what's going on?'"
