Thanks to the AFL for once again making us play our home game away at the Saints home ground :scream. I think we may need someone to turn the roof sprinkers on while we're playing on Friday night ;D.
-
we've actualy got a couple of fixtures that say the game is at the MCG ::)
-
We really need to back up our win against Port with a really good showing in this game. I am not saying we must or should win but we really need to show that same spirit that we did against Port.
Anything lesss will be a real let down IMHO.

Definately at the dome al!

Tend to agree
I don't think we will win but I see it as absolutly crucial that are competitive
My biggest concern isn't the fact we are playing the Saints but the fact it's Friday night Footy. And we tend to get stage fright, the deer gets stunned by the headlights etc ;D
We don't get too many opportunities these days (rightly with our recent on field results) to be on Friday night so we need to make the most of it. It is important for so many different reasons but the especially from a sponsorship angle
-
Wasn't this the game that we had swapped to the 'G', then it was swapped back because the cat was let out of the bag early re: the draw??
-
Not going to this game.
Reason same as any other year.
l dont support playing home games at other venues. :banghead
Its really a home game for St-Kilda. We take the gate while they get the onfield advantage.
We should be playing a interstate club there but l would still not attend because l been wanting the club for years to stand up to the AFL on this issue. :banghead
-
Last year or year before we played the Dogs twice in the one year at their venue. It's an absolute disgrace.

Same as Richmond vs Melbourne at the Dome.
Most teams dont like playing at the dome but they are contracted to play there every year & can't get out of it.

Forgot about that. Yep it was wayne. Caro's article let the cat out of the bag from memory.

Zac Dawson is unlikely to play for the Saints.

Good news for Jack and Griffiths.

Last year. And IIRC we nearly played a home game against them at Darklands this year as well, butit was changed.
-
what at joke.
Richmond home games should be at Punt Road or the MCG.
stuff Andrew and the AFL
-
Strongly agree with the remarks about Telstra dome. Not a home game. Should be at MCG. Sick to death of playing home games at the Dome. Also strongly agree need to back up performance aginst Port. Need to be competitive against Saints. Like the comments about the sprinkler too.

Yep the Bulldogs games was moved the MCG and that resulted in the Saints game being at Docklands

yeh if they can build a 40 thousand seat venue around the field which they totally could :thumbsup
-
There just isn't room though around Punt road is there, you can only build around part of it really.

Put Punt Road underneath.
:cheers

The AFL site journos weren't too impressed with our first win for the year. They're predicting the Saints will win by 52 points.

Like Atletico Madrid's stadium.

When we eventually get our 75k members we can tell the AFL to shove home games at Eithad ;).

How could Punt Road with absolutely no amenities (eg tiolets, food outlets) for VFL games let alone AFL games, with 1 stand for people to sit it in actually host a game or any description ???
As I said you have to be joking - it aint going to happen

Dude! Your thinking outside square, dig it! Be an expensive feat of engineering lol but I like it. Does anyone know how or why punt road painted itself into that corner?
-
if we can dream of 70+ members in 5 years and finals and flags ...
the dream of upgraded Punt Road into a castle for RFC is not that crazy
look at the 300 million Swan Street Stadium across the road 8)

You've just highlighted 300 million reasons why it aint gonna happen.
Who's going to pay for it?
The Club has got 20 mil from the Federal & State Govts to upgrade the facilities and build a new community facility (Indeginous Learing Centre). There aint no more $$$$ (especially if we by some miracle win one of those Soccer World Cup bids that's where govt $$ will be going)
So unless you've got a $100mil + war chest buried in your backyard keep dreaming :thumbsup

Hardwick's interview at training today. From the Age...
Hardwick said the Tigers would enter the match with confidence, after last weekend's big win over Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium, their first of the season.
But he acknowledged that win was of limited value as a form guide, given the incredibly wet conditions in Adelaide meant the club's normal gameplan had been thrown "out the window".
The Saints hold an 11-match winning streak over Richmond, but Hardwick said that would not daunt his team.
"It's a completely different playing group, obviously, but from our point of view we'll go in confident, we go in confident every week," he said.
"Our guys just look forward to the challenge, they love playing good sides and can measure themselves against them."
The Tigers will be without two of their more experienced midfielders, with Nathan Foley to again miss with an ankle injury and Daniel Jackson to serve the final game of a suspension.
But Hardwick said he was looking forward to throwing his promising younger midfielders, such as Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin and Shane Edwards, up against some star opponents.
"Whether Dusty goes to Lenny Hayes or Brendon Goddard or (Leigh) Montagna, I'm not sure, but it just gives them a great opportunity to learn from good players," he said.

I've never seen this site before but it's claiming it is showing (ie. streaming) our game live across the net tonight!
http://www.spotthisnow.com/2010/06/watch-st-kilda-saints-vs-richmond-tigers-live-free-video-australian-football/
Has anyone here used this site before?
-
The feed comes from another site that the afl is trying to stop streaming the games. you don't need to sign up for that site but the feeds can vary in quality.
-
can we win? :gotigers
-
can we win? :gotigers
... no we cant ..... :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead so crap
-
because we won one match it doesnt change the reality that we need a lot of changes at the end of the year to improve the side.
-
3 goals to umpires
-
there must be thousands of richmond fans there cause i can hear them on the tv :P
-
Only two goal kickers tonight! :banghead
-
Great effort by most. :clapping
Jack is a star. :thumbsup
For ALL you Farmer lovers that gave me poo for bagging him last week, what has changed?
Because he is one of the shittest players I've ever seen, give it your best shot tell me why he is in the team. Is hardwick dating his mum?

hes a good kick of the footy, but its disappointing that he cant seem to quell smaller forwards at the moment. Id rather have Farmer in than King.

ok I think we all know that King isn't blessed with great skill and he isn't blessed with height. But King tagged Del Santo and didn't do a bad job. Usually delsanto kills us.
The glaring difference between Farmer and King is that King played close played hard played with aggression. Farmer played loose played scared played soft.
As I said last week. I haven't seen anything so far in Farmers game. VFL player at best.
-
I can't remember a game when we've been dead set competitive and I look at the scoreboard halfway through the 2nd quarter and we've got 4 points on the board.
As far as quality of disposal goes, both teams made mistakes but tonight we were OK and not that far off the Saints, but their transition is much quicker than ours and they seem to be able to make turnovers really count.
It must be said we got a raw deal from the umps, how that hit on Webberley wasn't 50 I don't know and you let a groggy kid take the free...? But our back 6 have a lot of work to do in general.
-
we smashed them at the clearances, unbelievable, won the hardball gets too, the polish in transition and the spread will come, just got to keep building this new culture
We look like a harder unit these days, stronger spirit amongst the lads, notice the boys arent afraid to mouth off & throw their weight around. Keep it up :gotigers
-
It was a loss, but geez they showed some good signs.
The boys just need time and games.
Another injection of youth at this years draft and in a couple years time look out.

not on your life Ramps.
did you watch the game tonight, seriously King stopped Dal santo to no more than 15 possy's. He played a great game.
he has better skills than Farmer which isnt saying much cause both are average but Farmer is a hack no one at Port wanted.
he was solely recruited for our deficiencies on the back line with small forwards and i see no chance of this changing any time soon.
Tooo slow he is, way too slow

as I said VFL player at very best. No courage No speed No height No strength No aggression No fight......
Hardwick remember if you can't win your own ball you won't be playing. Please please drop him until he learns this otherwise you are accepting mediocrity.

::) :nope
For all the crap you want to put on him, I havn't seen him shirk as issue once. At least keep your criticisms valid.
-
Farmer does have a dip and keeps to team rules.
Mighten be good enough but tries to carry out what is asked of .
-
He still needs to play a lot tighter. His opponent got 5m ahead of him on numerous occasions.
-
Well the good news is that Stephen Milne (tiger killer) has turned 30 and cant keep playing forever.
-
Lenny Hayes received a reprimand for collecting Webberley high in the first quarter.
