Title: Positives from last night's game?
Post by: one-eyed on June 05, 2010, 12:46:31 AM
Fire away ......

We sure didn't give up when we could have thrown in the towel midway through the 2nd quarter.

I believe the mockery of the Richmond football Club  is about to end...That is the real positive for me.

We are starting to make the "media clowns" look very stupid.

How could you not get excited about the emerging talent comming through.

First time in many years I walked away from the game satisfied.
Yep, we made mistakes but I will wear the mistakes eg Kicking errors etc.
Love the way Astbury is progressing.
The game plan is finally being seen. ( apart from Nahas breaking the team rules continually  :banghead)
Graham actually being involved in contests 3 weeks in a row :gobdrop
Liked Collins game, always wanting to bring the ball back into the corridor.
Thought Tuck was good, made mistakes but tried his heart out.
As for the Captain, 3 weeks in a row, now a leader of men !

Once gain, as we have for a number of our games we have been matching or beating the opposition in contested possessions and clearances.
Where we are getting beaten, is the uncontested marks and possessions.

Dimma has in a very short time turned the side from a downhill, front running, unaccountable side into a unit that is prepared to do the hard yards. It will just take time to improve the skill level, either through improvement in current players or recruiting of new ones.

I thought at times we looked a little flat yet still overall matched StKilda at stoppages and clinches.

White again showed glimpses of what he may be capable of (yeah still a long way to go).

Graham getting taps, with a number to advantage. Getting around the ground and competing, taking marks in defence to boot.

Tambling looking like he may be able to get back to the form he showed in the 2nd half of last season.

Martin - just love the way he goes about it.

Jack's games are getting close to orgasm material.

Astbury is gonna be a good player I have no doubt, with good development.  Daly needs to get him onto Jacks goal kicking routine with the Ipod though to get rid of the yips lol.
King...I thought he was just a stopgap job but in the past two games he has shown a bit to go along with his natural tenacity/toughness.
Midfield is firing beautifully, and we really have got some light brightening at the end of the tunnel for our forward line options.
The Backs fought hard and considering the pressure put on them didn't let the dam burst.

Good Post Jack,

Agree on all counts.

Jacks contested stuff is progressing really well, a lot of it is footy smarts. Letting the defender get in front and nudging him over the ball and tapping it to his advantage to run on and goal. I'd say he's kicked 8 goals from it in the last 4 weeks.

Martin is a gem. An absolute absolute gem. He has Ricciuto and Voss all over him. It's hard to see im actualy improving he's almost good enough already lol.

Webberley played his best game for the club. Thought he was fantastic.

Newman and Deledio linked up well. Had some great runs out of defence with what loooked like set plays.

Kicking long and kicking t space and run on worked at times.

We're very very very very good in the clinches. Stoppages with Martin, Cotchin, Foley is just rude. Plain rude. Deledio and another A Grade outside Mid running past and that is set in stone for 8-10 years.

Agree on all conts Jack apart from Collins & Tuck. I was disappointed a few times when Collins should have gone in hard and he stood back. I know you need outside mids too but when it's your turn you have to go in and under and few times last night he didn't. As for Tucky, love is attack but his kicking in hope last night costs a couple of goals in the first and early in the 2nd.

Also, liked Tambling back across half back as it freed up Lids to cut through the centre

Thought it was Cuz's best game of the season

Nahas & Morton were the major disappointments for mine
Title: Re: Positives from last night's game?
Post by: jackstar is back again on June 05, 2010, 06:07:41 PM
Both Nathas and Morton seem slow or bad learners.
Both wanted to spectate .
Was dirty on Nahas in the last quarter when he was running into an open goal inside F50 and passed it 15 metres.
Wouldnt seen Steven Milne give up "'bread and butter"" goals. As thats what small forwards are played for, TO KICK GOALS
Also his pathetic turnover when he kicked to the saints player( turnover of the year) which resulted in a goal will surely get him at least 2 weeks at Coburg
Have been off Nahas since I seen him in Round 1.-plays scared.
Morton doesnt worked anywhere near hard enough, and this will also get him a good stint at the burgers.

Bit harsh on Collins, thought he tried to present okay and tried to use the corridor.
Matt White and Nason are a worry, White plays one good game and was then was TERRIBLE last night, Nason likewise.
White will be running around at Coburg next week as well,

Biggest positive is the Captain is now an actual Captain.
Great game last night.

Totally and wholeheartedly agree. :clapping

Was at the post match social club function and the vibe was so upbeat and positive from all there.

Saints are a top 8 side at best not a top 4 side. Teams have found them out and are making them look second rate. Without Goddard they would have been in real trouble last night.

I actually saw Milne in the last mark 35 out and with an open fwd line and handballed to Peake for a goal.

I was actually quite happy to see him kick to Astbury in that instance Jack. Nahas is not a penetrating kick and he was 45 out so IMO I thought he did the right thing even though I do agree with you that his game was very much below par.

Think Milne was ""rubbing our nose "" in it.
The Nahas thing happened in frontof me, I was sitting on the fence, could of ran an extra 15metres and kicked a goal

Jack best on ground. Could have kicked 9 easily. He thrashed blake and took the mark of the year in second quarter. Newman was very good. Martin was good as was Webberley. King played a good game. Tambling did some good things but undid alot by poor disposal. Will was okay in defence. Graham okay in ruck. Nahas was poor as was McGuane. Nason had an off day. Brett was good. Definitely missed Moore and Foley out there. Positive that we came back late in the second quarter.

Just watched some of the game again.

My favourite bit was Martin brushing away Farren Ray, kicking long and Jack plucking another contested mark in between two Saints.
