After the completion of 6 rounds:
- 9 teams have had a bye
- 7 of these teams have lost the week directly following a bye.
- The 2 teams that have won played a team that had a bye the week before.
During the season:
- Geelong, Sydney & Fremantle (3 times already) will play a team coming off a bye 4 TIMES.
- Essendon, Melbourne & West Coast will play 3 TIMES against a team coming off a bye.
- Brisbane & Richmond only ONCE play a team coming off a bye.
- Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Bulldogs and surprisingly Collingwood (Eddie must have missed this one) DO NOT play any team coming off a bye during the year!
Hopefully we can keep this trend going this week against :gotigers

Well done JBF they are interesting stats and facts.
No wonder they call the 22 rounds of the AFL season a FIXture.

Same thing happened in 1991 when Adelaide came into the comp as the 15th side.
Most teams coming off the bye lost the following weekend bar West Coast. It virtually took 2 seasons for clubs to get used to it and more often than not win after their bye week.

While it may look a bonus to be able to rest players for an extra 7 days, it mucks up their usual week to week preparation for the following game. Do you go easy in the week leading up to the bye to rest up players or do you train hard on the track to compensate for missing a full game at maximum match intensity? As Tucky said it takes a while for everyone to adjust and work out what's the best preparation for the team and individual. The longer we go into the season the less affect it should have as side's adjust to the bye.

I reckon you have an full on intra-club on a Friday night and make all players watch the next team they're playing that weekend.
