Just 11 RFC players in the Coburg seniors side and 12 all up. Injuries are hitting our depth stocks. Thursty being back will add some experience in defence at least.
Hopefully the conditions this week are better suited for tall forwards compared to last week's gale.

Not that I am any great fan of Hislop but at least he provides a pressure contest, Miller or Farmer would be first in line for Mitch. That is of course if he fires for Coburg.

Heard Griffiths got injured. Tunnelled.
-
possibly only concussion
-
Spoke to Danny Daly and said that Griffiths is one big game for Coburg away for a Senior call up. Said they would look at him really closely today. Shame he got injured, any news?
-
Here's what a guy on BF said about Griffs.
It happened in the first quarter when a serial hospital passer sent a kick into the FP making Griff wait an eternity for it to arrive. In the meantime a weak dog of an ex-North hack pushed Griffs hips like a train as he launched himself off the ground to take the mark. It was probably the worst case of 'tunnelling' I have ever seen! He showed enormous courage to take the mark. He was escorted down the race straight after he recovered from the massive connect he made with the ground.
2 things:
1/He looked a class above prior to this happening and should be brought back into the AFL when he is fit. If it had happened in the firsts the dog who did it would get 5 weeks.
2/ The AFL/VFL should start rubbing blokes out for 10 weeks in order to stop this scourge.
Posty was one of the best for us up to the time I left (half-time).
PS. Just heard from a mate that he may only have a concussion. That is good if true considering the impact. I did though see him holding his back walking down the race.

1 week and if his right to go unleash him now and get those games into him now, not 2012.
How can a 70% fit Griffiths not be better for our future than a fully fit Miller. Does anyone not intoxicated or high, honestly believe that Miller is a better option than Griffiths or Post right now.
we all dont rate Post okay but some of us also didnt rate Rance and he seems to be improving. Post at the very least needs to come in for Miller.

hoipefully its only concussion in which case he can play for coburg again next week and come in for the bombers game.

After the Essendon game I reckon it's time to rest the sore bodies and bring the likes of Griff and a few kids in for experience.
-
good to see jakobi firing, I liked the look of him pre season :thumbsup
-
Get Jacobi in the team at some stage.
-
What kind of player is Jakobi?
Is he any chance of 'making it'?
Suppose there's only one way of determining that and that's giving him a crack.
-
Get Jacobi in the team at some stage.
Highly unlikely, he is a rookie, we can't play all of them
Hicks is the one that is a concern, not a great sign to have running around in the Coburg ressies - means his forms not up to it at the moment

Hicks is finished IMO, tackling isn't up to the standard.

:clapping exactly.
Miller was the worst decision the club has made since Kent Kingsley. Bring in Griffiths ASAP.

Griffiths is nowhere near playing AFL at present :lol

Don't agree, I feel Jordan McMahon was a worse decision considering what we gave up for him.

He still plays for the Tigers Monk. ;D

Richmond's Ben Griffiths lasted just 15 minutes before he was concussed in a marking duel with Leigh Harding, while Tigers forward Mitch Morton kicked three goals.

Continstar on BF:
Tuck - 37 disposals - battled hard all day, really can't say he could've done much more
Post - 27 touches, 14 marks - definitely the best game i reckon i've seen him play for Coburg, stood up for most of the match
Nason - 24 touches - worked hard all day
Graham had an entertaining ruck duel with Daw and McIntosh, tough ask but he did an alright job, not many silly free kicks either
Morton - 10 touches and 3 goals, missed one he needed to get in the last that would've brought the margin in early in the quarter
Jakobi - 19 touches i think, stepped up from last week, which was great to see
Griffiths was unlucky, looked good early on, then pure stupidity from Harding and he suffered from it badly
Thursfield was solid too, good return
In the reserves Hicks was really good, finally showed some exciting signs and kicked a good goal at the start of the second quarter, D-Mac was quiet but did do some good team things

Tuck shines in Coburg loss
richmondfc.com.au
Mon 27 Jun, 2011
The Coburg Tigers were overpowered by a more experienced Werribee line-up in yesterday’s VFL Round 13 clash.
Coburg was well and truly in the contest at three-quarter time, trailing by just 14 points, but was outscored eight goals to three in the final term to suffer a 47-point loss - 19.13 (127) to 12.8 (80).
Shane Tuck continued his strong form at VFL level, picking up 37 disposals and working tirelessly in the midfield for the Coburg team.
Richmond rookie-list player, Ben Jakobi, produced an encouraging performance, gathering 20 disposals, Mitch Morton showed some more good signs in his playing return, booting three goals, while Will Thursfield was solid in defence.
Key-position ‘tall’, Ben Griffiths, was prominent early at centre half-back, before being concussed in a marking duel, which forced him from the field for the rest of the match.

A fair bit of cliche stuff to be honest. Nothing ground breaking. Said he was going to head to Werribee and watch Griffiths closely and that Miller understands his role and will make way with no fuss when required.
Nothing else that was really excited, mentioned Cousins popped in.

I thought it would be pretty obvious it's to get as much time into his legs as possible as he's missed alot of game time.

Good signs.
Post picks himself to be honest. Can't be in a 'transition period' and have a guy like Post finish the year with limited oppurtunities when old man Miller is 2nd to 3rd last pick every single week.
Post must play.
I'd like to see Tuck in against Carlton aswell as maybe Morton to stretch their defence seeing Jamieson injured his knee last week

Pretty standard practice to play young forwards in defence to help them learn the game.

The Coburg Report
richmondfc.com.au
Tue 28 Jun, 2011
Development coach, David Newett, provides a summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at AFL level with Coburg in last Sunday’s match against Werribee.
Ben Griffiths
Unfortunately, was concussed during the first quarter after a promising start at centre half-back, and took no further part in the game.
Ben Nason
His best game for several weeks, highlighted by a very good work-rate and spread, particularly offensively. His 14 handball receives showed that he ran consistently throughout the game to link up play. Rounded out his performance with solid defensive pressure.
Angus Graham
Was dominant in the ruck with regards to hit-outs, but didn’t always give the team’s midfielders first use of the ball. Had no major impact in contests around the ground.
Shane Tuck
The experienced midfielder continued his recent good form. Was Coburg’s best player and highest possession-winner, with 37. Was very good around the stoppages, consistently winning first possession and providing spread, both offensively and defensively.
Mitch Morton
Kicked three goals and looked dangerous throughout the game. Showed his usual class when in possession.
Ben Jakobi
Played his best game for Coburg. Displayed good intensity, speed and ball use when rebounding from defence. Kicked a good goal in a contested situation to cap off an impressive performance.
Jayden Post
Had a good battle with dangerous Werribee and North Melbourne-listed forward Ben McKinley. Won plenty of the ball offensively and provided good rebound, finishing with 27 possessions.
Will Thursfield
Returned from injury and turned in a solid defensive performance, with good spoiling. Provided composed offensive rebound.
Robbie Hicks (Coburg reserves)
Played his best game for the year, with good work-rate throughout the game. Was dangerous around goals and got involved in several scoring chains. Linked up play with run and carry and his defensive efforts were an improvement.
Dean MacDonald (Coburg reserves)
Was busy early and had some scoring involvements. Faded out of the game after that and needs to find more consistency.
