I usually dont agree with you Tassie but on this occasion you are one million percent correct. The club should move him on. Trade or delist. I dont want to see him play another game in the yellow and black. Its over. Matthew White the same, Angus Graham the same and Will Thursfield the same. Matty Dea is a VFL player at best no where near it. A long long way to go but Jackson - just trade him for anything.

Edwards atleast tries to even up some of his bad stuff with some good stuff. Jackson and the rest just forget it. Its not worth the stress.

Others who should get the chop for me are Taylor, Webberley and probably Nason who is too small to play.

He is in the leadership group why? He lack of leadership with his ill discipline is the major issue. Again tonight gave away stupid free kicks, with poor discipline and decisions

Gifted N0rt a goal that gave back the lead in the final qtr, has a chance to right it and kicks a shocker...

Tough decisions need to be made on so many players IMHO

Hardwicks exam starts now IMHO. If he makes the smart decisions to cut these types of players he may survive if not these players will do him out of a job the same way they fixed up other coaches over the years. Hardwick needs to start chopping some heads.

At the fan forum CC stated that they are maneuvering to free up spot for next seasons draft - reading between the lines I dont think there'll be much of a cleanout this season more so next season.

Ill be a hypocrit and do what I hate but Ive been saying thsi for maybe 2 seasons.

Anyone can put their body on the line, happens in suburban football every week. Yes Jackson is gutsier than the avergae player but offers absolutely nothing, unless he sticks to the old school taggers role. Something has happened where someone thinks he has more to offer. He hasnt.

GWS will take him for a 3rd rounder. Then he can get more money which he is after. Please get out of my club and out of my lucky 23 jumper you squib.

I have stuck up for Jackson in the past but enough is enough.Yesterday proved what a fraudulent AFL player he is.

His kicking for goal is atrocious.....7 goals 20 behinds in 2011  :o

Would rather keep Tuck on the list to be honest. Time to move on teachers pet.

All the duds put in their little cameos tonight. Gus, Farmer, Morton, Jackson, White....

That Wayne sums it up perfectly.
Farmer shots on goal in the third were atrocious and cost us another goal when he sold I can't remember into trouble for holding the ball.
Jackson missing from 30 in the last with the game on the line was the last straw. Why can't the clutch kick go to LIds or Ty or Jack instead all year it has fallen to Jako. Against Essendon could've put us 5 goals up and he missed there too. Trade him trade him trade him.

Robbo got stuck into Jackson in his "The Tackle" article today ...

7. Dan Jackson

Warrior-type player but when the time comes, he has to execute. Last night, last quarter, Tigers rolling, Kangas in front, and Jackson marks and misses from 30m. Effectively game over. It's OK to make mistakes, but Jackson last night had 17 touches and five clangers for 35 Supercoach points. If the Tigers are to further improve, they must make hard decisions on poor users and poor decision makers. After last night, the boy Farmer and Jackson will be under the spotlight.

For the great unwashed like myself who doesn't know a word of French, the google translation of that is:

"do slam the door when you exit the site"

which seems a bit rude, but if Jackson left the rfc slamming the door then this can only be a positive in my book.

Ge I'm so happy with this backlash. Loving it. Been saying it for 2-3 seasons about Jackson he is utterly hopeless, annoyed me when media and supporters said he represents the old school Richmond, puts his body on the line and is tough. Get any suburban footballer and they'd do the same.

It honestly looks like he's been given to much responsibility for a guy that deserves none:
- Addresses the team
- Takes shots on goal when he shouldn't 7 goals 19 is disgusting.
- Loses his head and gets suspended, takes matters into his own hands, doens't think of the team
- Chases possession instead of his natural run with role

Give him the boot please. Seen enough

Well there goes my membership for next year. Im not putting in money so that Jackson and afew others can get paid over the odds  :'(. The only way Im buying a membership next year is if we get a big name player or a star youngster from somewhere else in the AFL and not some average run of the mill players like Maric.

the key to me was the fact he didn't mention to Ralphy that he singed a new contract .... if he sigend he would have told Ralphy and Ralphy would have reported it

Why rush into a contract i mean his a spud who would chase him but GWS

As much I think Jacko should be traded, there is the risk if he remained out of contract of him walking to the Gold Coast in the PSD for nix in return. The Heffernan rule no longer exists so Jacko being re-signed doesn't stop us from trading him still.

ps. Wasn't it reported a few weeks ago that Jacko was holding out for 3 years not 2?

as much as we'd all like to see jackson gone, i think the only way it will happen is if another club enquires about him in trade negotiations, as with collins. Even then i have my doubts, sadly.  :(

Disappointed, but not really surprised. They may have offered him round but I dont think he has much market value. last year maybe, but not this year. He's put in too many spud like performances.
Hopefully, he struggles to get a game next year.

I have been re-watching some games from this year and I am convinced we are on the right track. Why, you ask? Because we have Trent Cotchin and Dustin Martin. Easily the best young midfield duo in the game.
They will win many games for us in the future.

We dont have all the pieces yet. But our top 6 or so kids are top quality and will only get better.    :gotigers

Although not at all surprised still a very disappointing decision .... tough calls need to be made and sometimes you have to make tough calls regarding trading...seems we are still not prepared to make the tough calls....

I would g o as far as to say the last time the club really made a tough call trade wise was when they traded out Hogg for Broderick, M Gale & Dundas

I dunno getting Ivan I can understand there is a method behind the madness. Would be good to have someone properly compete in the ruck to give service to our developing players even if its only a B or C Grade standard. Maric takes a Graham or Browne spot.

Keeping Jackson takes development away from a Conca, Contin, Jakobi, any midfielder who would otherwise maybe get a game.

Jackson needs to pull his head in if he remains at the club. Get him away from the media, get him out of the leadership group and return to his tagging role and nothing else. Stop chasing the ball and trying to score goals and losing games off his own shoe.

Wow the draft must really suck this year if we are prepared to keep Jackson on our list. The guy proved in that last match against North that we will never be able to rely on him in a pressure match. Also I am disappointed because apparently he knocked back our offer so it seems to me we must have given him a pay rise to stay for 2 years ...........

P.S. Did i read somewhere in this thread that Brad Lloyd quit the Dockers? Wow we need this guy he knows talent when he sees it.

Surely its easy to understand that when Jackson plays in the team that he takes 1 spot.

This 1 spot could be available to someone else on the list if he was elsewhere.

Is that difficult to understand?

Been thinking about this and as it looks like Jackson will be staying unless someone has the guts to make a tough call and trade him  ;D

then I would hope that the club and playing group make a tough statement to Daniel by dropping him from the leadership group ... you cannot have a leader so ill disciplined

Would think he should be made to earn the right to be there

And BTW does anyone else think that perhaps the reason (if his new deal is correct) the Club haven't announced it is because they know people may be just a tad annoyed, disappointed and peeved  ;D

Great post WP,

Agree, or maybe they only announce when decent players resign..

I'd honestly delist him for nothing.

What is his currency? 3rd round in a weak draft?

Meh delist him and front load some contracts to free up space for free agency.

Pick up Myles Sewell instead of Wackson.

I'd just delist him.

exactly or even a late 1st rounder = read Sydney been doing it for years  ;D - what pick would it be late 20's

But a 2nd rounder from a GWS, GC or Port - you'd be crazy not to consider it

If a 'player' constitutes someone who cant kick, cant handball, doesn't tag, has an accuracy in front of goal of about 28%, constantly takes cheap shots at opposition players and ends up 1/3 of the season on the sidelines through suspension and thinks he deserves to be part of our leadership group and constant media fronter, then yeah sure, he is one of our best.  :shh

Apart from Lids and Newy we can write off all of our recruiting in the 00s prior to 2006. It explains why we have no senior core unlike most sides.

some of the highlights (and they are just highlights) are very positive. Nice kick of the footy, good speed, good size. If we manage to offload Jackson for Brown then that is a win for the footy department.

I'm pretty sure they can't "keep" them.  The pre-list thing is basically a means of them being able to on-trade players to clubs for draft picks / players.

No, I'm pretty sure pre-listing works the same way.  Players that were pre-listed last year include Mzungu, Krakouer, Ceglar, Richardson, Faulks, Bewick.  They were all on-traded.

mate it would be purely leadership on/off field. he has a very smart brain from what i hear from my boss at work who is family friends with him.

Whatever his faults he does go into bat for his mates something i rarely see anyone else do. If only he could actually play he would be the perfect footballer.

He had a purple patch of about 4-5 weeks prior to foley being injured where you didn't know he was on the field.

Pretty much sums it up Daniel, although many would question why he's even in the leadership group when he continually gets himself rubbed out stupidly.

I just happed to switch the T.V on earlyer and Tigers v Saints was on, it was at the 9 min to go mark in the last quarter we were up by 2 points, the ball was kicked out of there half and bounced just inside the center square, Jackson was in the clear but decided to punch it inboard instead of taking the ball. It went straight down Dal Santos throat who ran to 50 and kicked a long ball to the square that ended up as a Saints goal :banghead Fair to say I switched the telly straight back off...

It was a good idea, if he had the skills to execute. Plodders should stick to the basics

I am amazed that this player is in the AFL. Gives hope to a lot of footballers out there.

He looks so much worse playing in a crap side. A guy like Alan Toovey and even Nick Maxwell wouldn't look much better in yellow and black.
He might be ok in a better side with a specific role.

i see this thread is 2 yrs old. i bet my bottom dollar the exact same sort of thread has occured about jackson at the end of each yr since he came to the club.

we lose close close games our better players play their pants off yet we have 26 yr olds like jackson making exactly the same sort of skill errors and poor decisions as when they first came to the club and we have to ask why we lose close games or cant get over ordinary opposition.
we will never ever have consistency of performance with too many of the likes of jackson in the team.

bite the bullet dump him play helbig in his role or perhaps draft a solid accountable defender and play morris in his so called role. i say so called role because for the life of me i cant remember the last time jackson actually stopped a dreal good opposition player.
to be a good side we have to be better we have to change and continually change for the better. imo some of our younger players are now at a stage where they need to be played they have some decent fitness and size and we have to give them the challenge.
