13-16 wins I reckon
-
Once again we only play GWS & GC once!! :banghead :banghead
Two trips to WA :banghead
I guess as a consolation we play the doggies twice and at least we don't play at the Cattery for once and 13 games at the G isn't too bad.
-
Decent draw with the trade off of two Perth trips. Is that only Freo twice? If we don't make the finals I'm doing this
-
great run home for the boys could win 10 of the last 12 :clapping :clapping :clapping :clapping
still would have loved GWS funny how essendon managed this must be the sheedy connection :banghead :banghead
we would have to be a shoe in for the 2014season to play gold coast twice :pray :pray
we can easily be 3 and 0 but at the day and age ill just be wrapt to see us after round one sitting 1win 0 losses
GO U TIGERS
-
If we can win two of our first three, Round 4 will have them hanging from the rafters at the G.
-

I'll join you.
Essendump has an easy draw again
-

Freo April 26th
Eagles Monday night 3rd June on FOXTEL not Ch7
-
Looks ok but hard to tell whether it's a good draw yet or not.
Some teams will get better, others will drop away so no point over analysing it too much yet.
Not too many would have picked Sydney for this year's flag when the draw was released last season.
-

What the stuff?
Edit: In fairness 8 of our 9 games before that are FTA. Dogs will be a Foxtel game.
-
Sick of Collingwood having the most games at the G
Gifted finals ever year.
-
If we are good enough the draw doesn't matter :gotigers :police:
-
Dogs twice .... at Etihad ::)

Not gifted when everyone stuffing requests to play them there.
-
6 out of 11 games in the run home on FTA plus you would think Rd 23 vs the Bums would be too. Giving us 15 FTA and 7 Foxtel games.

Not gifted when everyone stuffing requests to play them there.
I'd like to see the afl only give them 9-10 games there just for one season. :D
Also, I think when we consistently make finals we'll get as much friday night games as them.
-
i just want to see us make finals :gobdrop
and if we are good enough will make finals no matter how good or bad the draw is :thumbsup

Yer but you'll pee off a heap of other clubs who lose out by not playing them at the 'G.
Only reason I don't care is soon it will be us. ;D

It is a reasonable draw
couple of things I dont like and a few I do
The section Ive highlighted in yellow is critical I believe, in previopus seasons weve fallen away here and lost games that have cost us. Need to take advantage of the weaker links here and win as many as possible. :thumbsup

Not a bad draw about who we play.
My beef on it if we give up a home game in Qld why do we then get one at Etihad against a tenant of that ground?
Has been happening for yrs
2008 St Kilda night Jack missed after the siren
2009 Dogs Walla$$ last match
2010 St Kilda on a Friday night
2011 We played Nought twice at the dome
This year we played the Weagles can kind of wear that.
AFL have smothered the year with early blockbusters and we have fallen short playing a home game against the Dogs in round 3.
Worst case scenario here and we have a 2009 type start round 4 against the Pies may just be another home and away fixture rather than our first real home game.
Despite these inequities if we are good enough we can make the 8.
Run home is great and we can certainly look to improve and get to 13-15 wins next season.

North would be hoping Geelong slide again next year so they can beat them twice.
They got lucky by beating them this year. Geelong was asleep all first half and still nearly came back and won from memory
-
Our draw isn't to bad. Hard to tell until a few round into the season when you get a chance to see what teams have improved and what teams haven't.

By the way who are they ripping off by offering money to their members to refer members. Shouldn't be that hard to win given they only have single digit membership.
Out they come out they come
Out they come to play
The draw in 13 isn't that easy
they'll get blown away again
Lots of fun heaps of fun

Club's reaction
"We were keen to maintain our season-opening fixture against Carlton. It launches the season in football's heartland and has grown into one of the biggest matches of the season. Playing 13 games at the MCG, including nine home games, is also something that will please our fans... From a commercial perspective, we are pleased our fans will be able to see Richmond on free-to-air television 12 times during the 2013 season. We have the same amount of Friday night games as we did in 2012, though next year they are both away games." - Tigers CEO Brendon Gale

Tigers' easy run a double-edged sword for Damien Hardwick
Mark Stevens
From: Herald Sun
November 01, 2012
RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick might have had mixed feelings when the AFL fixture lobbed on his Punt Rd desk.
He would have quickly noted the Tigers have a dream run, with only nine of its 22 games against top eight sides from 2012.
But in a flash, reality would have set in. It only adds to the pressure and expectation surrounding the perennial under-achievers from Tigerland.
They must make the finals next season. There are no more excuses.
Using a formula to gauge the toughness of each Victorian club's fixture, the Tigers tie with Melbourne in the easy street stakes.
Richmond plays each of this season's top four - Sydney, Hawthorn, Adelaide and Collingwood - only once.
The only 2012 top eight side the Tigers play twice is Fremantle.
They also get a chance to play the rebuilding Western Bulldogs twice.
It is more understandable, given the AFL has dipped its big toe into the world of handicapping, that Melbourne has been delivered a soft fixture.
Again, the Dees play only one 2012 finalist twice - the Dockers.
At the lower end, they have been handed double-up games against GWS, Gold Coast and the Bulldogs.
Then there is the matter of 12 of the first 14 games at the MCG. They are going through a tough week at the Demons, but there were no complaints on this front yesterday.
No one does it tougher than Geelong and North Melbourne. The Cats play every one of last season's top four twice.

All up, not an easy draw as we only play GWS, GC and Melbourne only once but not a bad one either. If we're good enough and have improved as much as we think we have and will further then we should play finals next year barring a horrible run with injuries especially if it's big Ivan. We'll still need to reach 13 wins like this year as there'll still be a heap of rubbish and/or young teams at the bottom of the ladder that will struggle to win a game. The important thing this year is to get off to a reasonable start in the first month so we aren't playing catch up and if we do stumble in those middle rounds for a couple of weeks it won't be costly or curtains for our season as we'll have some leeway.
You've got to love the logic of the AFL though. We play our home game at the Dogs home ground yet the week before that we play the Saints away at the 'G which isn't their home ground :huh3. The ugly part of the draw is the two trips to Perth including one off a six day break ::). We also only have two prime time Friday nighters. I would've thought we would've at one or two more after the game against St Kilda was a ratings smash. I'm not a fan of Sunday twilight games either.

We have a Thursday and a couple of Saturdays that are at home.

FNF is the big stage.
I can remember Gillon McLachlan saying late last season that we should be up for more than 2 Friday Night Games for this year. Two away with one interstate is not worthy of how we played last season and winning both our Friday clashes. :help

Will admit I did a double check to make sure the HUN article wasn't written WAT when I saw that line ;D
Yeah but WAT's version would have read....
Once upon a time....
NO EXCUSES
The End ;D
And that my friend is the only way it can read next year.. ;)

FNF is the big stage.
I can remember Gillon McLachlan saying late last season that we should be up for more than 2 Friday Night Games for this year. Two away with one interstate is not worthy of how we played last season and winning both our Friday clashes. :help
We'll get as much as Collingwood if we make the 8 in 13
I'd like to believe that Mrakov but I doubt it. We will receive far more games on Friday nights if we are successful next season but we will need to earn the broadcasters trust that it is not a one off and we will be consistently successful. Collingwood has been consistently successful and has a large fan base. We have the fan base but are perennial finals absentees.

Sticky fixture please

I would like to add that if we do make finals and Edwards backs up with another 30 goal 16 touches per game avg, WAT has NO EXCUSES to back him in as part of our starting 18.

Champion Data reckons we have the 6th easiest draw next year.
North Melbourne has toughest AFL draw of 2013
Rebecca Williams
From: Herald Sun
December 16, 2012
Champion Data has ranked the difficulty of every club's 2013 draw, with the Kangaroos sitting on top ahead of Grand Finalists Hawthorn, Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.
Every club's ranking has been reached by totalling the 2012 premiership points from each of their 22 opponents - with five opponents doubling up.
After receiving the fourth easiest draw last year, the Kangaroos' difficulty climbed after being drawn to "double-up" against three top-four sides - Hawthorn, Adelaide and Collingwood. The Roos will also face Geelong twice.
Their combined opposition reached a total of 1036 points, marginally ahead of the Hawks (1028), the Magpies (1004) and Bulldogs (998). Compounding this, the Kangaroos, along with West Coast, have eight six-day breaks - more than any other side.
At the other end of the scale, Melbourne has been ranked with the easiest draw. The Demons had a combined opposition total of 912 points, the lowest tally of any club.
Gold Coast (17th) and Brisbane (16th) ranked just above the Demons with the ease of their draw.
Adelaide has also been identified as a big winner with its 2013 draw - for the second year running.
The Crows, who are ranked with the 15th toughest draw, don't play any of their fellow top-four teams twice, but have two meetings against Port Adelaide and the Bulldogs.
EASY STREET
Adelaide has been blessed for the second season. The Crows don't face any other top-four team twice, but they get to play Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs twice.
Premier Sydney plays Hawthorn and Collingwood twice, but doubles up on Greater Western Sydney and the mid-range Saints.
To avoid blowouts, seven of the eight finalists don't play GWS or Gold Coast twice during the year.
Carlton and Richmond each play one just finalist twice - the only sides drawn that way without finishing in the bottom four last season.
SIX-DAY BREAKS
Geelong faces a tough opening month, playing Hawthorn, Carlton and Sydney away in the first four rounds, with three consecutive six-day breaks in this time. The Cats don't play at Simonds Stadium until Round 10 because of the ground redevelopment.
North Melbourne and West Coast have eight six-day breaks - more than any other side.
HOW YOUR SIDE RANKS
(draw ranked from toughest to easiest based on total 2012 premiership points by 2013 opponents)

8 Fremantle (970)

Winners and losers: the fixture is in
Matthew Lloyd
The Age
July 7, 2013
All this is hard for some club supporters to accept. Take, for example, one of the beneficiaries of a good draw this year - Richmond, which has played the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda twice in the space of 13 games.
The Tigers have banked all 16 points on offer yet they don't meet the grand finalists, Sydney and Hawthorn, for the first time until rounds 18 and 19.
There is no doubt that Richmond is on the march and has significantly improved - but when you delve into the fixture, perhaps we also need to assess whether its form is true or not. It can be hard to get a true gauge on whose form is real and whose isn't.

Troll
Has probably had the article since Rd 1 and amended now :wallywink
We did finish outside the 8 last year like blues and bombers and as a result this year's result is reflective of that just as anyone's is that finished outside the 8.
Blues play port and saints twice so what
Bummers play West coast and gold coast so what
Nought play lions and crows twice and finished in the 8
No point in bringing up the draw Lloydo because it's only relevant as long as it suits your agenda ::)
Sh it if we had beaten nought he wouldn't have published an article at all
