Title: Changes this week?
Post by: mightytiges on May 16, 2005, 02:51:32 PM
Is Staff and Hyde ok to play against Brissy? Or should we give young Patto another week even though he spent a fair while on the bench.

I'd be more concerned with Richo than anybody else.

imho he has a real problem with his knee

Yeah he's still carrying a slight medial ligament injury to his knee since the Saints game supposedly. I think the Club are hoping he can last until the midseason break so he doesn't miss a game.

I reckon Stafford, if fit will come in for Pattision.

Wouldn't have been surprised if Hyde came back through the reserves but the Burgers are not playing this week IIRC - VFL -v- SANFL or something like that.

But they may just bring him straight back. In that case Hyde for Tivendale

Richo better be fit.   :help  That would be 2 years running the Tigers have come up to the Gabba and Richo not playing otherwise :banghead

At least you've got Simmo as back up this time around Julz  ;) ;D

Not a lot wrong with Sarge's performance up there last year

Injury update
5:19:01 PM Mon 16 May, 2005
richmondfc.com.au

Greg Stafford   Ankle   Test
Brent Hartigan   Hamstring   1 week
Chris Hyde   Head   Available
Luke McGuane   Arm   Indefinite
David Rodan   Knee ACL   Season

Hartigan you would think will be out longer than just one more week after re-doing his hammy.
Good to hear Hyde is available. Hope his confidence is ok in regards to putting his head over the ball.

Agree Mopsy but unfortunately the kid is lacking match fitness at the moment. Tezza said the other week that he needed 3-4 weeks at Coburg to regain match fitness :thumbsup

Wouldn't be surpised at all if Morrison comes in for Hall

Not from what I saw of him at Punt Road against the bullants where I thought he got a bath from his opponent. perhaps he is more a forward than a backman as I see he was among'st the goalkickers last saturday.

Are we forgetting Kelvin Moore?

He has been putting in some decent performances for Coburg and was best afield for the burgers this week. Would slot straight in nicely in place of Razor.

I like Moore too, I think he has some fire in him, however he may struggle with his height against Brown. Morrison is taller and heavier and may have a point to prove against his old club where he was not very well accepted by the playing list at the time.

From the Herald-Sun:

Chris Hyde, who fractured his skull against St Kilda in Round 5, is a chance to return against the Lions provided he gets the all-clear from his neurosurgeon later this week.

Ruckman Greg Stafford will have his injured ankle tested.

Moore would be a direct replacement for a Kellaway or Graham rather than Hall IMO. Agree with Mopsy he would struggle at CHB against Jonathan Brown. Lack of height and strength would a problem.

dont think if moore came in he would play on brown, last year joel gave brown a bath, so i assume he will get th eduties on him again , but first option would have to be gaspar

Yes Joel did a superb job on Brown last year.

Thank goodness there's still Simmo if Richo doesn't make the trip up.  What's a girl to do ???

Guys guys girls lets just take a step back here. The onle reason why Bowdo played at CHB last year was because Dud was scratching his head with Gas all year trying to work out what to do....there is not a chance in hell we will play Bowdo on Brown this year (and nor should we). Gas is hot and has blanketed well so its only right he gets first crack.

With Hall most likely to be out, we have the option of either bringing in Staff in a straight swap, or for Patto which means Moore may get a call up. I dont think brisbane have the talls so me personally...I would go for Staff -> Hall. We only need one tall down back for Brown, and we can make do with the second tierers like Bowbo and Chubba. I would even be comfortable throwing Patto down there to play on Merret or the resting ruckman if need be.

I would like to see Hyde get another week's rest. I dont want to risk him as we have two massive games after Brisbane coming up.

Is Bradshaw coming back this week for the Lions? If not then it's a easy decision as om21 said - Gas on Brown.

I didn't see the game against the Bullants. But up until that game Morrison had been playing CHB for Coburg and from what I had seen had rightly been in the best players.

Granted Chub is not the best of full-backs, I would prefer him playing on Bradshaw than Gas.....Gas out and out has to take the best attacker. We dont have anyone remotely close to matching up on JB. Gas would have to be a shoe-in..........unless we just double and triple team like every other side does.....but I would prefer not using this cheap tactic.

You would have seen more of him than me over time as I only watched him for the first half of that game but to me he semed lethargic and his opponent got away from him too easily. That has been Halls strongpoint this year and I feel that his replacement should be of the same mould.

David Flood said he played Morrison in the forward line against North Ballarat because he felt Coburg's forward line could do with a few more senior players in there to score more goals. He struggled up there though.

With Moore breaking his jaw :( , it'll be between Morrison and Schulz if we decide to bring in another tall to replace Razor in defence. Flood said Sarge started reasonably well but faded. He's still underdone coming back from his ankle injury.

Mail from a poster on y&b. Said Jackson flew out with the team and Schulz a straight replacement for Stafford.

Yeah julz. In effect we've lost a tall (or gained a running player I suppose).
Schulz replaces Hall and Hyde replaces Stafford. That's assuming the mail is correct. :)
