Crows fitter than Tigers: Graham
By Harry Thring and AAP
2:15pm AEDT Monday, December 10, 2012
ADELAIDE is fitter than Richmond. That is the assessment of Tiger-turned-Crow Angus Graham who admits he has plenty of hard work ahead of him if he's to catch up to his new teammates' fitness levels.
The 25-year-old, who crossed from Richmond during the Gillette AFL Trade Period, admits he is "three or four weeks" behind the Crows, which is in part due to the fact that Richmond failed to make the finals.
However, the 201cm giant is confident he can reach parity with the Adelaide players' fitness levels within a month - even if it means training over the Christmas break.
"The fitness of the group probably surprised me, coming from Richmond. As a core group as a whole I think [the Crows are] a lot fitter group than what I'm used to," Graham said.
"I've probably had three or four weeks longer break so I'm probably still trying to catch up."
Graham - who joined the Crows amid the club's acrimonious split with the big forward - said he did not want to be known as the club's insurance policy for Kurt Tippett.
He managed just one game at Richmond last season, and only 48 for the Tigers since being picked up in the 2005 rookie draft.
But the Crows swooped on Graham mainly as depth to cover for Tippett's forward-ruck position.

Doesn't surprise me. They'd have a more mature bunch who have done more pre seasons collectively.
Funnily enough 2 years ago before Sanderson took over, Adelaide had a lot of young raw players coming through and were criticised for not being able to run out games, ill hazard a guess they had a largish portion of their side on the lean side of several+ preseasons, not dissimilar to us.
-
Eff me, He was always three or 4 weeks behind our entire playing group's fitness levels when he was here. :banghead

Get a stuffing life. You could post an article that says Gus has cancer and people would jump on here with comments about wishing him a painful death.
More moderating and less google searching of Angus Graham would be good.

agree coach
it would be a big step up from training at coburg for miss king island 2005

When I watched Adelaide up close vs Richmond,in Carlton. 2-3 years ago, maybe last?
Crows looked huge in comparison to us

Not hard to believe. Anyone seen Chris Knights lately?
We've got a lot of youngster who haven't had many pre seasons in their legs yet, but we're getting there...

Boofcake cracks me up

You dont see Chris Knights or Chaplin bagging their ex clubs......."The fitness of the group probably surprised me, coming from Richmond"

He didn't want to be at Richmond.
Bye bye double agent.

Look forward to watching Big Ivan smacking the ƒU©k out of him.

Perhaps Gus just realised how far off getting a senior game he is and is tapering expectations.
-
Or maybe we just aren't fit enough and never have been.

Won't happen Ox. Gus is SANFL bound unless Jacobs eats a dodgy curry.

Even then they'd probably choose Jacobs with the curry running down the back of his legs. :shh :o

I don't even rate Gus. Can't play. I'm just confused as to why articles get posted on here about former players so you blokes can get on here and bag the poo out of them. What did you lot expect him to say? :lol
So again, WGAF? Worry about our own bag of poo for a change.

should work out well then for a guy who spends more time in the gym/pumping weights than actually playing footy....
