Luke Power is out with a broken hand.
-----------
Power suffers a broken hand

Sportal for afl.com.au
The Brisbane Lions' challenge to climb up the ladder has been made all the harder with the news that Luke Power sustained a broken hand during Saturday night's win over Adelaide at AMMI Stadium and will miss a 'few weeks'.
..............
"They (Richmond) are in good shape and still have the nucleus of the side that played in the 2001 preliminary final," observed Matthews after witnessing first hand the Tigers' storming finish over the hapless Magpies at the MCG on Sunday.
Matthews believes Richmond has thrived on a 'fresh start' given to them since the arrival of former Hawthorn team-mate and Western Bulldogs coach Terry Wallace.
"When we played them in the last practice game, I thought they were really impressive - They are six (wins) and two (losses) and deserve to be because that is the level of performance they have been able to put together."

We should head to Brisbane with fresh legs as we didnt run for 3 quarters on Sunday. The game will be won on tactics. If we run them ragged early in the game they will struggle to keep up. One of our big men needs to plonk themselves infront of Brown. Win the disputed ball, and deliver quickly to the forward line. The crumbers will be crucial. Take Leppa and Micheal out of the game by leading up the ground.
Sometimes I think I know more about footy than I really do :-[

Agree Cain. That's how the doggies did 'em the week before. Got the ball free then ran the Lions off their feet.

Brown: My chance to sink Lions
17 May 2005
Herald Sun
Rebecca Williams and Darren Cartwright
RICHMOND star Nathan Brown's history against the Brisbane Lions isn't great.
It has been more than four years since Brown, the hero of Richmond's win over Collingwood on Sunday, has played in a winning side against Brisbane.
Brown has experienced just one win in 11 matches against the triple premiers.
But with confidence souring at Punt Rd, the Tigers couldn't be better placed to break that drought at the Gabba on Saturday night.
Brown said yesterday the Tigers had the potential to repeat the upset win by his former club, the Western Bulldogs, in Round 7.
"I think the Gabba is very similar to the MCG and we play well at the MCG so we've just got to play our game style," Brown said.
"Our style is very similar to theirs. They like to get the ball and use it and run hard out of the backline, so I'm sure it will be a very attacking game."

Lions the litmus test: Wallace
6:09:36 PM Tue 17 May, 2005
Jason Phelan
Sportal for afl.com.au
Richmond coach Terry Wallace believes the Tigers can dispel lingering doubts about their progress with a win against Brisbane this Saturday.
Wallace feels his side was unfairly maligned in the media after its scrappy win over the last-placed Magpies last week.
"We had a game on the weekend where we won by six goals, but I wouldn't say that the reports coming out of the game were too glowing about us or the manner in which we played the game," Wallace said.
"I thought it was very negative about our group, actually.
"I think people forget pretty quickly that it was only six weeks ago that we'd lost 15 (games) in a row and, all of a sudden, it was just a hack win.
"Maybe I should take that as a compliment. They're looking at us in a different light than perhaps they were a month and-a-half ago."
Richmond has not beaten Brisbane since round three 2001, but Wallace believes the Tigers are well-placed to break the drought.
"We're in reasonable form and they've lost some games at home this year so that's a chance, that's an opportunity," he said.
"It's a great chance for our guys and another opportunity to try to prove ourselves."

Chan. 10 reporter up here last night said "with the Lions having won against Adelaide, they should go into this weekend's match as firm favourites"!!!! Really, why ??? Despite having Power and who knows who else out injured or under an injury cloud. Wouldn't be surprised if Roger Merrett and other "experts" in the paper tip the Lions. ::)
-
Hope the Lions underestimate us as well as the Birssy media.
We've lost our past 5 games against them and are 1-6 at the 'Gabba since they merged. Plus the media everywhere still don't rate our wins. So not surprised we're still classed as underdogs.
The other thing is it's our first night game for the year (excluding that twilight game against the Saints). Always found those yellow footys alot harder and a bit dodgy lol compared to the normal red ones.

Fox League Teams tonight - 3 out of the 4 went for the Tiges
The only one who didn't was Dunstall lol

ROUND 9 - RICHMOND vs BRISBANE at the 'Gabba (Away)
SUMMARY:
After disposing of cellar dweller Collingwood last week with a eight goal blitz led by Nathan Brown with five of his own, Richmond fly north to Brisbane for their first interstate match of the year at the 'Gabba this Saturday night. The match is the first of a challenging month for the Tigers as all the upcoming opponents are just on the heels of us and vying for a top eight spot. A few wins beginning this weekend would see the Tiges maintain their current game or two over the rest of the pack. Richmond have made two changes with one forced through the two week to Ray Hall. First gamer Adam Pattison returns to Coburg after getting a brief taste. In for them come Stafford and Hyde both returning from injury. Rumouredly there may be a late change in regards to Stafford. We'll have to wait and see.
Our opponent this week Brisbane have only shown rare glimpses of the all-conquering teams from the past four years. Despite dominant wins over the Saints in the first game of the season and Essendon more recently, they have also put in a few shockers against Hawthorn and the Eagles and been knocked off in their last three home games at what was their fortress - the 'Gabba. Last week they just hung on for a narrow win away to the Crows after being five goals up at half time. Still it will be a major challenge for the Tigers up there as we have lost our past five encounters against them and we've only defeated the Lions at the 'Gabba once (in mid 2000) from seven visits. At the selection table Brisbane suffered a blow with midfielder/forward Luke Power missing due to a wrist injury. They do however regain inconsistent full-forward Bradshaw back from a hamstring injury but once again rumour has it that veteran ruckman Clark Keating may be at late inclusion.
PAST ENCOUNTERS:
Overall: 4-7
In the 00's: 2-5 (Lions have won the last 5)
At the 'Gabba: 1-6
Last Time:
Round 14, 03.07.04. Away at the 'Gabba
Richmond 4.4 6.7 10.10 14.12-96
Brisbane 4.1 10.4 12.8 17.12-114
Multiple Goalkickers: Richmond - Schulz 6, Ottens 2; Brisbane - Lynch 4, Charman 3, Caracella 3, Black 2.
Attendance: 32,744
KEY STATS AND MATCH-UPS:
DEFENCE: On the back of containing Port, Carlton and the Pies in the last three week to lowish scores, Richmond's backline is now rated 6th strongest in the AFL conceding 90 points per game. A far cry from earlier in the year and the past three seasons. The loss of Hall for the next two weeks is a blow as he has stood up well at Centre Half-Back since getting a seniors recall in round 3. Thus Kellaway and Graham will need to take on further responsiblilities this week with Bowden a potential back-up after his effort in the corresponding game last year where he got the better of the stronger and larger Lion Centre Half-Forward Jonathan Brown.
The Brisbane attack is ranked 9th in the competition (90 points per game) and 13th in Inside 50's averaging 47 (the Tiges are 2nd with 56). The loss of Lynch and his unbelievable strength 1-on-1 at full forward has significantly reduced the effectiveness of the Lions' forward structure as they simple can't bomb the footy to the top of the square anymore. To add to their problems Bradshaw has had a inconsistent 2005 being in and out of the side with hamstring injuries. Jonathan Brown's return three weeks ago has at least given them a big target to kick to although he was quiet against the Crows in a scrappy affair after starring in his first two games back. He (with 14 goals from 3 games) and Bradshaw (12 from 5) are the main tall avenues to goal. Gas and Kellaway will get first crack at each respectively. The Lions have also named young tall Daniel Merret in a forward pocket in an attempt to stretch our defence height-wise. When he isn't having a run in the ruck Graham will have to spend more time on the ground in the backline minding him. This would allow our backline structure to remain fairly much the same as it has been this year.
At ground level in a ploy to add more goalscoring avenues Leigh Matthews has played Chris Scott in a small/mid-sized forward role this year with some success (10 goals) in the last month. The other main threat up forward is of course Akermanis (10 goals) running forward. He is also ranked number one in the AFL in inside 50's and total clearances so he needs to be one of three players IMO to be shut down. I would let Newman run with Aker and Chaffey to take Chris Scott. If that's not working then swap them over.
MIDFIELD: The battle in the midfield looks like being one of contrasting styles. The Lions will try to keep the game tight and bash and crash their way to victory outmuscling and outpowering us in-close to win the ball forward. Brisbane lead the competition in tackles, one percenters and spoils where we're ranked as one of the poorer sides in those areas. They would have studied how we got ourselves in a muddle and committed a number of clangers against the Pies last week when the game was dragged down into a scrap despite us winning more of the footy at stoppages and having more inside 50's. On the other hand, the Tigers will want to use their strength of clearing the ball from stoppages (2nd in winning contested footy with Tuck and Cogs in the top 10 of the competition) to feed our runners into space so they can run and carry the footy forward into a relatively open forward line.
Richmond amazingly average a whopping 50 more possessions (2nd in the AFL) and 27 more marks (4th in the league ) per game than the Lions who are ranked 14th in each. We should be basically copying what the Bulldogs did to Brisbane two weeks ago at the 'Gabba. We've seen in the last three weeks that once our midfielders are allowed space to run we slam on goals in quick succession. Hopefully our pace, intensity, pressure and teamwork in the midfield boosted with Hyde returning will allow us to get on top or at least break even in the midfield especially with Power (top 10 in winning uncontested footy) absent and the likes of champions such as Voss (average 16 possessions) becoming not as influential as they use to be due to age and injury. They still have their premiership class players in Simon Black (averaging 20 possessions and returned to form last week with 32), Aker (21 possies) and Lappin (22) who can turn it on but we now at least on paper have some quality and depth in our midfield through Cogs (23 possies), Tuck (22), Johnson (20), Hyde (20), Bowden (24 - top 10) and Brown (20) to match up on them and cope with negators such as Copeland and Brad Scott. As for who we target IMO that would be Aker who as mentioned above is number one in the AFL for clearances and entries inside 50 and Black who is also a linchpin as when he is held, as we saw in last year's grand final, the Lions seem to fall away in the midfield.
In the ruck we should again have an major advantage in depth and talent at the hitouts as has been the case the past few weeks with Knobel, Stafford and Simmonds rotating against Dylan McLaren and fill-in Merret. The Lions are missing Charman and Keating. If Stafford doesn't come up and Keating comes in for the Lions then that will make things a bit tighter but we should have the edge.
FORWARDS: Up forward it's a battle between the 4th best attack with the Tigers averaging a score of 104 points per game against the 12th ranked defence of the Lions at 99. Richmond also averages the second most inside 50's. Browny (28 goals) and Richo (24) are second and third respectively on the League's goalscoring tally. Pettifer (13), Stafford (10) and Krakouer (10) are the next in line. Richo and Simmonds/Stafford will face Mal Michael and Leppitsch (one and three in spoils in the AFL) in important contests. I would expect if they don't have midfield tagging roles that one of Copeland or Brad Scott will have the tough task on Browny. The Lions will want to keep Chris Johnson not too close to his defensive goals as he likes to float off his opponent and be Brisbane's main rebounder. He's ranked second in the competition for rebounds out of defensive 50 (Joel is 6th btw for the Tiges). Along with Aker and Black, Chris Johnson would be the third Lion we should be targetting. If Johnson's opponent can get one out and drag him close to goal then that should restrict his influence although he's not the most accountable backman IMO. From a neutrals point of view Nathan Brown versus Chris Johnson would be worth the price of admission alone.
OVERALL: You'd expect the Lions will be up for this game after losing three straight home games and with their season on the line at 3-5. As with any match interstate you can't give the home team a start as their confidence and the voice of the hometown crowd will lift. We need to silence them by getting off to a good start. The battle of the midfield styles with go along way to deciding to this contest. If the Tigers are switched from the start in terms of intensity at the contest and can generate space by running through the lines to get their run and carry gameplan going then we should have too much reliable firepower up forward and pace through the midfield. However, if we play like we did last week for the first 2 1/2 quarters and move away from Wallace's style of play then our turnovers will kill us as, unlike the Pies, Brisbane has a star Centre Half-Forward and still enough class within its ranks to punish our skill errors.

Yet again the majority of Melbourne media - with the exception of Sheahan and Hird went for Brisbane. Same with the Gold Coast media (not that they really count). Excuse me but doesn't 11th compared to 3rd mean anything? Everyone keeps going on about 2003 when we were 6-2 but that was under Frawley. I hope we slaughter the Lions to just shut the media's trap up. Lions aren't the formidable force they once were (I hope I don't have to eat my words here).
-
Saw that Julz. 16-2 "experts" tipped in favour of the Lions in the Hun and 17-1 in the Age ::).
Hey at least Mike, Walls and Hird tipped us. Maybe that's not a good thing :-\ ;D.
-
Copeland has been under an injury cloud this week and Bradshaw doesn't have much match fitness.

That’s it in a nutshell MT.
As always, a lot will depend on our pressure and work rate, especially through the middle of the ground, because that will determine how easy/hard life is for both forwards and backs.
As we don’t yet have the overall skill and class to match the better teams, a disciplined team effort is our best asset and can compensate for some weaknesses and win us games.
Therefore, the key to this game, and probably any really, is whether our players can maintain their focus, play as a team and stick to the game plan. Don’t want to think about it if players deviate from that.
However, if each player does his job to the best of his ability then this is a winnable game, for the reasons MT stated. And also because they’re not the force they once were. Regardless of form though, never under-estimate ‘experienced’ finals teams. Even if their desire/hunger is not the same, if they go unchallenged and are allowed to dictate terms, they can win games through experience alone.

Hey Julz,
What's the weather like at the moment? Hear you had a bucketload yesterday. What's the forecast for tomorrow night?
-
Ken Sheldon on SEN tonight said Brisbane will do a job on these pretenders (us) tomorrow night. Hope the boys stick it right up him. He also said the Hawks were going to "annihilate" Freo over there, so go figure this cretin.
Go Tiges!

I heard it'll be 24 and fine during the day. Should be a nice night for footy if that's the case.

Tigers to stand up early at Gabba
21 May 2005
Herald Sun
Darren Cartwright
RESPECT and fear is what springs to Richmond coach Terry Wallace's mind when he thinks about planning how to bring down the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba tonight.
Sitting third on the ladder but without ruckman Greg Stafford, who hasn't recovered from an ankle injury, Wallace said his side had to bring its "Melbourne form" to the Gabba.
The Tigers have won six of eight matches this year, but this is the first time they have ventured outside Victoria.
It's also one of only three interstate sorties for the Tigers this year.
"You always fear them because you don't get to where they have without doing something right," Wallace said.
"They are in reasonable shape, generally, although they would be disappointed to lose Luke Power and I have seen up here a number of times where games are done and dusted by quarter-time.
"We have to have the ability to withstand them early, which is going to be really important to us."
Stafford was recalled on Thursday night, but has failed to come up. Midfielder Chris Hyde will play his first game since sustaining a fractured skull in a sickening collision with St Kilda's Matt Maguire in Round 5.
Hyde must wear a helmet for four matches. It will be up to him to decide if he wants to keep using it.
Stafford's likely replacement is Jay Schulz, who kicked six goals against the Lions at the Gabba in Round 14 last year.
Brisbane had two minor concerns late yesterday.
Ruckman Dylan McLaren required a fitness test before training started, while full-forward Daniel Bradshaw, returning from a hamstring strain, required extra attention during the drill.
"He (Bradshaw) isn't a running player in the middle of the ground, but nevertheless he hasn't had an ideal preparation," coach Leigh Matthews said.

Tigers set to bring in Schulz
By Peter Blucher
Brisbane
The Age
May 21, 2005
Jay Schulz, the man at the centre of Richmond's early-season Transport Accident Commission sponsorship furore, is in line for his first AFL game of the season against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba tonight.
The Tigers yesterday lost ruckman Greg Stafford to injury and will replace him with Schulz, whose drink-driving conviction in March cost the Tigers their TAC major sponsorship, or utility player Daniel Jackson. Both flew to Brisbane yesterday after Stafford, sidelined by ankle problems last week, failed to convince medical staff yesterday morning that he was right to play.
Coach Terry Wallace said he would not make a decision between the taller, more robust Schulz or the versatile Jackson until he had a chance to monitor Brisbane's recently fickle weather. "There are two trains of thought - obviously the Bulldogs used a running brigade up here a few weeks ago, so do we go down that path, or structure-wise, we've played with that extra tall. We'll toss that up within ourselves," said Wallace.
Schulz, who kicked a career-best six goals against the Lions at the Gabba last year, is favoured to get the nod unless it is very wet after doing much of the training this week in the Richmond forward line.
With regular centre half-back Ray Hall missing through suspension, the 193-centimetre Schulz also provides an extra defensive option against a Brisbane forward line boasting key pair Jonathan Brown and Daniel Bradshaw together for the first time this year.
Schulz was being groomed for the key role at centre half-back this year until he broke his ankle in a Wizard Cup game against Collingwood. He has played three comeback games over the past month, broken by a one-week lay-off due to problems with his other ankle, and has played mainly in the forward line.
Wallace, interstate with his new side for the first time, was not interested in talk of the Tigers' poor travel record, in which they've won only one of their past 16 games outside Melbourne in the last four years.
"That's a history lesson - we're not interested," he said. "The biggest thing we have to do is bring our Melbourne game to Brisbane. If we play the style and brand of football we've been playing, then we believe we'll be in the game.
"Statistically, we're in better form, but it's bringing our game here in the hostile environment. It's a very difficult place to win when they've got backs to the wall, and the position Brisbane are in at the moment, it's a very important game for them."
Wallace conceded the Tigers would need to start better than they did against Collingwood last week, and was wary of the once-mighty Lions.
"I always fear them - you don't get to the top without doing something right along the way. They're big-game performers," he said.
"I've seen a lot of games here done and dusted by quarter-time, so the ability for us to go with them early is going to be a real key focus for us."
Wallace denied the Tigers had a leg-speed advantage against the Lions. "We're not the Bulldogs - they are a super quick side - but we are moving the ball pretty well," he said.
"It will be a lot about their ability to shut us down and not allow us to play that overlap style of play that my sides have always played that will be one of the determining factors."

Apparently all 3 emegencies for the Lions played in the QAFL so no change for them. Sarge in for Staff as we know.
My mail ;) told me who's going to play on Jonathan Brown and it's a surprise if it's right :o. We've got another surprise for them as well structurally.
-
Tiges by 8 :thumbsup. We've started alright. Aker is off the ground.
Q1 15 mins.

Richo broke the rules before by not having a shot within 50
But just made amends. Go Tiges
-
Tivs just away 50 running through the mark. 3 quick goals to Brisbane :banghead
Lappin's just turned it on the last couple of minutes. Chaffey is tagging him. Brisbane winning it out of the middle.
Who's on McGrath in defence ???
Lions by 5 points.
-
Good decision by umps to override that decision on Brown.
Like to see a replay but looks like he took second grab over the line.
-
Quarter time:
Tiges 4.5-29
Brisbane 6.5-41
82 to 68 possies, 12 more marks and we're 2 goals down. 4 goals to them in time-on :help
We've had only 3 tackles ???
-
Knobel having a good game :thumbsup
Liked Lids' kick out where he handballed got it back, kicked it long to a player who unfortunately dropped. Showed lots of poise.
Go Browny :thumbsup
-
The Lions are more efficient going forward. We've kicked only 1 goal in the last 25 minutes :(.
It doesn't look too good at the moment.
Simmonds missed :(
-
Simmo's 1 goal 3 is not a great return - has to do better.
At least he's getting it i suppose
-
Playing ourselves back into the game now. 2 quick goals to Sarge and Pettifer thanks to lovely direct passes from Richo and Johnson. Only 3 points down.

Kicked 3.4 to 2.0 that quarter. If we could kick straight we'd be in front. Still we finish games well so good that we're only 2 points down after looking in trouble half through that quarter. Last 10 minutes we controlled the game.
Tuck's having a great game. Richo doing well filling the hole. Chaffey tightened up on Lappin.
-
Julz's daughter has hurt her arm :(
Hope you're feeling better soon Mini Me
-
Geez we can't kick straight :scream.
Best of wishes to Julz's daughter Moi.
-
I don't know about you, MT, but this game seems to be playing in slow motion. Expecting a big last quarter. Lots of errors both sides, but more Brisbane i think.
-
Bowden injured - dunno eye or cheekbone
-
Yeah Moi we're making too many mistakes. Our defence is struggling to clear the ball and turning over the footy. Brisbane are looking more dangrous but we're hanging on.
Losing Bowden is a big loss. Doesn't sound too good - depressed checkbone they said :(. Graham who has done surprisingly well on Brown but now needs to do two jobs.
On ya Browny. Back to a point.
-
I know many of our shots have been out wide but geez these misses have cost us :banghead
-
Yep, Simmo, Brown and Krak culprits

Brownnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny :thumbsup

Maybe some due respect from the media - and up yours Ken Sheldon lol

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
On ya Tiges :thumbsup. Gutsy as :bow :bow :bow
-
Somebody forgot to bring the pump for the footies they hand out lol
-
LOL Moi. At least we were flat at the end on the field :thumbsup.
We know how to get across the line in the close ones and never give up. 3 from 3 this year. Like Moi said the game was in slow motion for alot of it and there were plenty of mistakes by both sides due to the pressure but nevertheless fantastic to get up :thumbsup.
Tuck, Johnson and Cogs were sensational at the stoppages. 88 possessions between the 3 of them.
Browny just knows where the goals are when it matters despite missing a few earlier on.
Richo's workrate was great again.
Knobel and Simmonds were very effective as big men.
Graham on Brown (yes I was wrong source ;D ) shut him out and tookover the role of Bowden when Joel did his cheekbone. Gas kept Bradshaw at bay.
Chaffey apart from that period late in the first quarter kept Lappin fairly quiet.
-
What about Gas, MT - might not have had many possessions, but didn't do a think wrong IMO
-
And good get, MT, on the early info re Graham playing on Brown :thumbsup
-
Thank my source Moi (you know him ;) ) for the info of Graham on Brown. I thought he was kidding ;D. Glad to be proven wrong by the old bloke Graham. J.Brown had no influence whatsoever and that was one of the main reasons why we won the game.
What about Gas, MT - might not have had many possessions, but didn't do a think wrong IMO
Agree Moi. Gas was definitely in our best 7-8 players. AA full back certainty on current form.
-
gas said that he took Brown when he played at Ff and Graham took him when he was at CHF - interesting strategy to trust two blokes on a ;potential game breaker - but also clever because Gas is definitely better at FB. Good coach that TW.
He said to the Player Link people before the game that if we beat the Lions tonite we won't see them again this year....

evening Jack ;)

Tigers compound Lions' misery
10:11:18 PM Sat 21 May, 2005
Simon White
Exclusive to richmondfc.com.au
Nathan Brown turned from villain to hero as Richmond won at the Gabba for the first time since 2000, inflicting a fourth straight home defeat on the Brisbane Lions by four points on Saturday night.
The normally deadly Brown missed several gilt-edged chances in the third quarter, but stepped to the fore in the final term with two timely snaps - the first on his natural left foot to give the Tigers the lead 13 minutes in, and the second on his non-preferred right boot to put Richmond back in front with a shade over two minutes remaining.
The latter proved decisive as Richmond held on for a 12.15 (87) to 12.11 (83) win - a result that reduces the Lions' season record to 3-6, with three losses by a goal or less.
Earlier the Tigers had threatened to do what recent hard-running Gabba victors Sydney, West Coast and Western Bulldogs had done before them, dominating the opening exchanges with some enterprising play and quick ball movement.
After Michael Voss' conversion off a step put the Lions up two straight goals to one, Richmond kicked the next three majors - but missed as many opportunities as they made use of.
The net result was the Lions roaring back into the contest on the back of five consecutive inside 50s and the last four goals of the first term.
With Nigel Lappin providing plenty of run with seven disposals for the quarter and Jason Akermanis returning from an early ankle injury scare in typically dynamic fashion, the Lions stretched the Tigers across the field - and Ashley McGrath was the chief beneficiary.
McGrath, who turned 22 on Friday, booted the Lions' first goal and twice split the big sticks from 50m to match his goal-haul from last week's win over Adelaide inside the first 30 minutes.
The Tigers re-grouped in term two and, while the Lions momentarily stretched their advantage on the back of successive goals by Michael Voss and Simon Black, Terry Wallace's team was soon right back in the mix.
Matthew Richardson roamed far and wide from his usual station in the forward line and Richmond ended the first half with goals from the lively Jay Schulz and Kayne Pettifer to enter half-time only two points in arrears.
The third stanza was one of missed chances for both teams, with Brown, who was giving Lions youngster Jed Adcock the runaround, a particularly guilty party.
Two goals from Richardson within the space of a minute gave Richmond their first lead since the opening quarter but a great effort from the recalled Anthony Corrie put the Lions up by two-points to set up the nail-biting last quarter.
For Richmond, Shane Tuck was simply outstanding with 30 touches, six hard-ball gets, six clearances and five inside 50s. Those numbers were almost matched by his captain Kane Johnson, while Mark Coughlan had 11 disposals in the first quarter to finish with 28 for the match.
Tim Notting was the Lions' leading possession-winner with 27 but he struggled to hit targets and it was left to the usual suspects of Voss, Akermanis and Simon Black to provide most of the home team's cutting edge.
McGrath, who finished the match limping after a kick to the lower leg, kicked 5.1 to be the Lions' most effective forward - with Jonathan Brown failing to have his usual impact on the contest.
Both teams will exit the game with injury worries, with Richmond youngster Richard Tambling appearing to tear a hamstring in the last term and Lions pairing Chris Scott and Mal Michael also looking to have struck hamstring trouble.
The Tigers' 2004 best-and-fairest Joel Bowden left the ground in the third quarter after a head clash with Chris Hyde - ironically, Hyde was making a comeback from a horrific head clash injury of his own - and did not return.

Is that Turbo's 3rd hamstring this year? ??? :(.

I thought we would never see the Gas back to his best considering his injury and the ruthless criticism he copped last year. He was outstanding last night and the man deserves much respect for working his way back to form :thumbsup

Oh man I'm so tired :sleep
What a game. Thought I'd pass out with all the excitement. We should have easily won that if it wasn't for shocking kicking. Brisbane weren't going to be pushovers, however it was good to see Bradshaw and Brown quite (well done Graham). Couldn't believe my eyes (get out the binoculars) to see Richo playing deep in defence. Was caught up in the middle of the Tigers faithful. However a couple of very feral Tigers even caused our own supporters to tell them to shut up. Michael Roach was sitting not far from us. Great atmosphere. Everyone was yelling out "siren" when we hit the front towards the end and the guy next to me and I kept looking at the clock, looking at the game and closing our eyes. Shane Tuck, whilst racking up a lot of possessions, seemed to have lots of clangers as well. A couple of dodgy umpiring decisions against us.
As for Mini Me, she was very quiet in the first half - I was getting very worried and thought I'd have to leave early. She picked up in the second half. However, we ended up going to hospital to have it checked out and due to the lateness will have to go back this morning for x-rays to confirm whether her arm is just badly bruised or if she's cracked a bone :(

Hope all's well with Mini Me Julz.
Going by the telly, there seemed to be a lot of Richmond supporters and they sure made a lot of noise. Not that it takes a lot of Richmond supporters to make a lot of noise. :rollin
There was one section behind the goals where the cheer squad was that seemed to be nearly all Richmond supporters.
On "The Fifth Quarter" on channel 10, they showed Shane Tuck taking his signed footy over to this group of supporters behind the goals. Apart from the high fives, they hugged him and didn't seem like they were going to let him go. It was a funny, but memorable, sight.

He said to the Player Link people before the game that if we beat the Lions tonite we won't see them again this year....
Don't you mean Tiger Executive MJS ;) - er a lot of Player Link Members (me included) were sitting with the cheer squad last night because we coudln't get any other seats

Oh man I'm so tired :sleep
Tell me about it Julz - I got back to Melbourne about 11.30 this morning but have slept most of the afternoon because I was stuffed :rollin
Went to the after match function and then got back to the hotel around midnight, was so wired I couldn't sleep so I watched the FA cup thinking that would send me to sleep. It didn't :lol but when I flicked over to Rage on the ABC and Jimi Hendrix was setting his guitar on fire that did the trick ;D
Thank my source Moi (you know him ;) ) for the info of Graham on Brown. I thought he was kidding ;D. Glad to be proven wrong by the old bloke Graham. J.Brown had no influence whatsoever and that was one of the main reasons why we won the game.
:lol MT I was going to SMS you from the Pre-match I was at to tell you about Graham myself but I got side tracked when the Trivia game started ;D
Just on Graham - he was sensational last night and has been good for us all year. Now before you all laugh at me he has been good because each week he has had a specific role - mainly as a "pinch-hitter" off the bench and he has done exactly what he has been required to do ;) ( am sure your source could confimr that MT :rollin)

WP
Now that you mention that - you are correct - it was one of them who told me.

Mini Me has a very sore arm but not a broken one. Sore enough to get out of violin this week but will probably be well enough for netball on Saturday.

Did the Lions refuse to let us pump up the supporter balls??
the boy were handing out flat ones, no kicking them into the crowd..
what a win :bow :bow :bow :bow

i think it was more a logistical decision, easier to transport 25 flat footys that pumped up ones
