For future reference this is what we came up with at the start of this year in terms of who is contracted to when.
*** Updated 29/8/2006 ***
2006 Contract List:
Unsure: Hyde, Johnson.
2006: P.Bowden, Chaffey, Foley, Gaspar, Jackson, Kellaway, Knobel, Limbach, McGuane, Moore, Roach, Stafford, Thursfield, Tivendale.
2007: Brown, Casserley, Coughlan, Hall, Hartigan, Hughes, Krakouer, Meyer, Oakley-Nicholls, Pattison, Rodan, Tambling.
2008: J.Bowden, Newman, Pettifer, Polo, Richardson, Schulz, Tuck, White.
2009: Deledio, Raines, Simmonds.
Rookies:
Graham, Howat (both in first year of a possible maximum 2 years)
Humm - 1 year (will be ineligible in 2007).
If anyone has any corrections to this list post it here and I or WP will update it :cheers.
-
I believe that Tambling is contracted until the end of 2007 - on a 3 year deal.
oops I might be wrong on this one :P
It was reported in Monday's HUN in the "Pulse" (page 44 11/7/05) section that Shane Tuck is the cheapest player going around being on the cheapest match payments. It also said the Tigers "are moving to give him a least a new 2 year deal"
-
Does Rodan get an extension to the end of next year due to his long-term injury?
I believe Hilton got one for last year but not sure how a player qualifies.

I think he does FF - something about it being a workplace injury or something like that.
Not sure of the exact legalities but it's been reported/suggested that's why Hilton remained because he had a long term injury suffered at the workplace.
Thouigh I think they only have to offer a 1 year extension
-
Thanks WP.
If it is the case, which I suspect it is, then Rodan moves from the 2005 group to 2006 on the list.

Cheers guys. It is done :cheers.
-
From a PM :cheers, Newman apparently is contracted to 2006. Makes sense as he was drafted at the end of 2000 so 3 two-year contracts would take him to the end of next year.
-
Hall - 2 year deal
Staff - 1 year deal
P.Bowden - 1 year left on his doggies deal
Tuck - 3 year deal*
Foley - 2 year deal*
Thursfield - 2 year deal*
* - not confirmed
-
If Foley and Thursfiled get 2 year deals, they should be in the 2007 group, but 2006! :thumbsup
I question whether Foley will get a 2 year deal though!

Cheers. Put them in the wrong place by mistake :cheers.
The assumption is all promoted rookies get a basic 2-year deal which may be wrong.

My mail is that with rookies (unlike National Draft selection kids) you don't have to give then a 2 year deal - you can 'em a 1 year deal if you wish - logic being that you've already given them at least 1 year at a club

His talking about PROMOTED rookies!
-
I believe WP was talking about promoted rookies - "logic being that you've already given them at least 1 year at a club". Meaning 1 or 2 years as allowed for a rookie before they are promoted or delisted.
Cheers WP :cheers
-
His talking about PROMOTED rookies!
So was I :-\ ;D
You promote them and you only have to give 'em a one year contract
-
When promoted, they get one year contract
-
You CAN give em a 1 year contract, but most promoted rookies tend to get 2 year contracts, thats what he was saying!

New deal for Tiger quartet
5:29:24 PM Tue 11 October, 2005
Paul Gough
Sportal for afl.com.au
Richmond has re-signed four of its most promising young players and is close to finalising a new three year deal for much improved midfielder Shane Tuck.
The Tigers' 2004 Rising Star winner Brent Hartigan has signed on for two more years while Tom Roach, Kelvin Moore and promising rookie Will Thursfield, who along with fellow 2005 rookie Nathan Foley will be elevated onto the senior list, have all agreed to contracts for the 2006 season.
Richmond has also finalised one year deals for veteran ruckman Greg Stafford and new recruit Patrick Bowden from the Bulldogs as the club looks to build on its improved 2005 season.
Richmond football director Greg Miller told Sportal that all the Tigers' contracts for next season could be finalised by next week with the only players still not officially signed up for next year being Tuck, Daniel Jackson, Kayne Pettifer and Tom Raines.
However Miller said Tuck's new deal was now all but completed.
"Shane Tuck's (new contract) will be finalised this week," Miller said.
"That will be a three year deal and it all went very well."
Tuck's new deal will reflect his much-improved status at Tigerland after he finished third in the club's best and fairest in 2005, despite being the last player to be offered a place on the senior list at the start of the season.
The son of Hawthorn's games' record holder Michael only played on a one year deal for the minimum base payments this season and has received a pay increase as well as a longer deal with his new contract.
Miller also confirmed the Tigers would have one pick in December's pre-season draft - at selection five - with three players already under consideration in West Coast pair Travis Gaspar and Kasey Green and Essendon's Ben Haynes, who played five games with the Tigers in 2000-01 before joining the Bombers.
However Miller admits he is not sure if any of the three players will still be available by then, should they decide to sign new contracts with their existing clubs, but admitted the Tigers had inquired about the availability of all three during trade week.
With former skipper Wayne Campbell and Mark Graham having already announced their retirements, Miller said the Tigers would only make four further de-listings ahead of clubs lists having to be finalised on October 31 - ahead of the national draft.
This is in stark contrast to coach Terry Wallace's first year in charge this year when 12 players were moved on ahead of the 2005 season.
However Miller said after mass changes to the list in the past two years, it was time to give the many young players on the club's list a chance next season.
"What we needed to do, with all the changes in the last two years, is to give all these kids a bit more time and consolidate our list a bit," he said.

Er..... Tom Raines ::) Who is he exactly :rollin
What about Rodan? Does this mean he is signed up?

Four ??? Wonder who number 4 is going to be?
:help
-
Hope it's not Rainsey and i'm not expecting it will be going on some conversations i've had. Would be pretty cruel if it was.
-
If Jackson or Raines get delisted i am so going to have sex with Greg Millers hot 16yo daughter, that'll teach him! :shh :thumbsup :lol
.................does he actually have a got 16yo daughter? :rollin

Geez that makes you trust the accuracy of the article lol.

:help
We had on our list as uncontracted - J.Bowden, Chaffey, Gilmour, Hyde, Jackson, Johnson, Kellaway, Pettifer, Raines, Rodan.
Joel, Sugar, Kellaway and Hyde will be or already are signed up. I have no idea til when ???. Pettifer should be in the same safe boat.
That leaves Chaffey, Gilmore, Jackson, Raines and Rodan.
I can't see Raines or Jackson going. Not this year anyway. Both have played seniors whereas Gilly hasn't. The Club obviously wants Rodan to stay also as he's been offered a new contract. It's up to him if he agrees to it.
There's no mention of Hilton, Morrison and Archibald in the article and we know they are 3 of the 4. Gilmore and Chaffey aren't mentioned either so that might be a clue :-\.
To delist a kid who was an early second round selection (pick 21) within 2 years of him being drafted would be an admission we stuffed up with that pick. Gilly was a speculative selection though who just scraped into qualifying for the 2003 draft.
Come to think of it, the fourth delisting sounds more and more that it will be Chaffey given his bout of OP late in the year. Maybe injury rather than age/limited ability has ended it all for Chaffs.
So I think the delisted 4 could be:
Hilton
Morrison
Archibald
Chaffey
-
Exactly, why would you delist Gilmour before Chaffey?
He doesn't even turn 20 until about June next year, give the kid some dam time!
-
I don't think Gilmour will be de-listed - reckon he is safe for another year but he must play senior footy in 2006. Crunch year IMV
I cannot see Chaffey being de-listed either
Ditto re: Andrew, Tom, George, Harry (or whatever his name is) Raines :thumbsup - no de-listing there
so as to who number 4 is going to be? Maybe they are just going to use the Vets list and move both Richo & Gas
-
WP - With Campbell, Graham retiring and Archi, Hilton and Morro delisted, we'll only have 3 spots on our senior list left.
We are apparently going to have 3 draft picks and a PSD pick, which means we'd need to clear a 4th spot on the senior list!

Yeah I know that Razor - I am just suggestng that they could move either Richo or Gas to the veterans list (outside the list of 38) and that would give us an extra spot.
Vets can be listed 2 ways either as part of the main list of 38 (like Cambo was this season) or outside the main list of 38. By putting someone on the vets list outside the main list it creates an extra spot the downside to that however is it then reduces the number of rookies you can take :thumbsup

Picking up Paddy Bowden means we now have 2 spots left. If we want to use 3 National draft picks + our PSD pick we need to free up 2 more spots. Putting someone on the vets list and off the senior list frees up another spot. So if Richo and Gas are both moved onto the vets list then that'd do the trick.
The only problem I see there is we may drop below the minimum 92.5% in TPP if only half of both Gas and Richo's salary count towards the cap. Obviously one of them will definitely be put on the vet list if we are delisting 4 blokes.

Maybe we better add a few more $$$ to Tuck's new deal :rollin
-
LOL WP.
The Club would also be forced to pay out more $$$ in real terms if we go with a list of 40 (38 + 2 vets). As we are still watching the state of our books I would think we will only put one of Richo or Gas on the vets list and save the money. Spending too much on the senior + vet lists would mean fewer rookies and we're lacking enough as it is in that department.
I cannot see Chaffey being de-listed either
If he can play on then I would agree WP. I guess it depends on how bad his case of OP is. He turns 29 in May next year so he doesn't have longevity on his side like say Cogs had. If Chaff's been told he'll miss most of 2006 like Cogs did in 2004 then you would think that would force him into retirement.
-
OP has plagued Chaffey through most of his time at Richmond. It could well shorten his career but it seems to be managed pretty well.
I must admit, I thought he was gone a couple of years ago when he obviously couldn't run during some games, in particular against Sydney when we beat them by a couple of points at TD (2003?). He was noticably hindered.
It's a worry he couldn't get through this season because the condition is never cured. Lots of games on the TD surface can't help.

Both Richo and Gas will be placed on the veterans list either in or outside our senior list. The final decision will be made after the preseason draft.
-
Oakley-Nicholls, Hughes and Casserley - standard 2-year new draftee contracts.
-
White - standard 2-year deal
Graham, Humm and Howat - 1 year as rookies with a possible maximum of 2 years.
-
I don't think White gets a standard 2 year deal, but i could be wrong!
-
Humm has just one year as a rookie. Too old next year. ;)
-

CBA says 2 years for a first year player unless you've been a rookie or come from another club (see rookie draft thread). I'm trying to get confirmation though.

Cheers FF. Done :thumbsup.
-
A kid being picked up in the PSD counts the same as being picked up in the national draft I understand. Hence White is the same as every other draftie (JON, Cleave, Cass)
Humm only has the one year. Will be either delisted or promoted to the proper list next season.
-

That's right CB. What's more in terms of salary, a kid picked up in the PSD is classed as on par with kid selected with a 3rd round or later National draft pick.
-
J.Bowden, Richo - new 2 year deals to 2008.
Patto - 1 extra year.
