One Day Cricket is a TV game, probably had a million watching it.
Soccer is just plain poo.

Yep. Pakistan v NZ final day was far more compelling than either the ODI or Melbourne Draw v Brisbane Bore.
-
I reckon the sporting public in this country are becoming more sophisticated. The cheap thrill, candy coated versions of the game lack depth, strategy and integrity.

You'd hope so , though that doesn't account for the ever increasing popularity of American sport.

So you equate quality with mass appeal? Never mind the fact it was played during the week at a neutral venue and a few thousand still turned up for the final session yesterday after prayers.

no im merely astonished by the number of empty seats
i thought it was an excellent game and very enjoyable
however i would of thought, without looking at the statistics test cricket attendances are on a sharp upward curve the last few decades...

You may be surprised a-league / ACL worldwide tv audience...
socceroos rate well world cup

I was only talking Australian audience.
I'd bet the cricket has a massive audience in India as well.
I know guys from my hometown who are touring India at the moment, just a country cricket club playing games against local Indian teams and they have had several thousand people turning up to watch.
One guy told me he hasn't seen a TV set the entire time he has been there without a game of cricket on it.
They say the fanaticism for the game has to been seen to be believed.

yeah but fireworks and cheerleaders

One of the main reasons test match attendences have been down in the last 20 years in Australia is because Channel Nine started broadcasting the entire day's play live into the cities where the test match was being held - before that they only ever use to show the last session live.
-
i was thinking more watching tests in the like of sheepshaggerland and south africa numbers in the ground dont often look too great
melbourne victory has a very squad, good manager, not too far away winning the ACL, 1/3 $billion top class purpose build triangle stadium
vs
shield number not good
Victoria cricket a shambles get junction ovel shorted out ffs

I'm not so sure about that.
I've pretty much been to every Test Match in Melbourne for the last 30 years and the crowds steadily built through the '90s as McGrath, Warne, Gilly, Hayden emerged and we became a once in a lifetime team.
Crowds have begun to drop as those guys have retire.
We need players that put bums on seats.
Right now, that is an issue.
