Not enough changes. They drop Astbury but retain Chaplin and Vickery who were both atrocious against Port. Having said that glad brought Short in.

But very pleased to see they've dropped Astbury

Bought back short and not dropped Castagna

So hopefully next week both Grimes and Rance are added. And with a bit of luck Chaplin and Batchelor go out.
That's 2 less duds.
Hopefully when Yarran is fit Houli goes out. That will be a good day for me.
Cotch back for Grigg at about the same time and the side looks a lot quicker and tougher.
And if Griff can can make that ruck spot his own, maybe we could see the end of Hampson too.

At least it looks like DH has picked a couple of guys that can play on Hawthorns 3 very good smalls.
Castagna, Morris and Short are all super quick and at least it seems like Dimma has thought about it.
I hope they throw Vlastuin into the midfield even if just for short stints now that Cotch is out.
Let him have a crack in the middle.

Do you notice Astbury doesn't really spoil that much, he just runs into the back of his opponent.  :lol
He hasent been our worst but we need to upgrade him at some stage.

Astbury mixes good with bad.

He can take a good saving mark but often lets his opponent off the leash too easily. He also doesn't rebound well as he makes poor choices coming out of the back line.

Astbury originally recruited as a forward if my memory serves me correctly. Here's an idea, why dont we plonk him inside forward 50 for a couple of weeks and see how he goes in the VFL. Think with the limited depth we have we need to look at other options and the VFL is the place to try these things.

Batchelor, Chaplin and Morris - FMFD - Hardwick is clueless!

Should play Moore in back pocket instead of Batchelor. Elton instead of Chaplin and someone that can get more than 4 touches in a game to replace Morris

Chaplin is not the future yet Hardwick continually selects him(regardless of how poorly he plays). This is yet another example of Hardwick's inability to take chances and of his stubborn resistance to drop his favoured players. Agree with earlier comments that Hardwick will probably play Griffiths in backline. I suspect that Houli will be given the kicking out duties and wonder how long he will last at it this time.

That's because the club has developed him poorly.
The guy is 197cm, mobile for his size and can take a grab. That gives him a great platform to be a KPP. The rest is development.....

True to a point. He was rated as a junior though. We picked him at pick 26 in the draft IIRC.

We do turn them into spuds pretty quickly at Punt road though.... :whistle

Both Astbury and Maric wernt good last week but were they worse than Hampson and Chaplin? I didnt think so. Cant remember seeing Maric turn it over like Hampson did thats for sure.

Dont like those two changes but after last week there were probably 12 you could make. Good that the younger ones are getting a exteneded run though from what I saw last week that is part of the problem. These guys are just getting pushed around by bigger bodies. Supose you cant have it both ways (playing the kids and bigger bodies) but some teams seem to do it.

Dont like the Griffith backline idea much. That has also been part of the problem, trying to turn guys into something they are not and playing them out of position.

Griff in the backline is the sole reason we have Hampson in our team so I never want to see it happen again

But you're unsure about him and in another thread you listed the players we should keep playing but omitted him. So obviously you don't rate him as one of the kids we should keep playing? Why is that?
