Look at all that cream on the top that according to some posters isn't or shouldn't be used, elevated or tried at the cream level.. :rollin
-
We drafted Townsend to play 2nd's how great was that pick up :banghead
We just pick-up over rated players. That goose couldn't even get a game for GWS & they play him in the last game just to suck our recruiters in. Worked wonders
-
Duds like Townsend, A.Moore, Hamspud, Hunt, Conca weren't overrated by anybody but our recruiters....
-
Just carries on the tradition at club of selecting duds at will.
-
Good to see Conca back in.
Anyone know how Ballard has been going this season?

NB Roosters 4-1-25
Tiges 3-4-22
Early in the 2nd
-
Often see the commentary via RFC VFL twitter of opposition teams going "coast to coast". Happens all the time in AFL as well which suggests to me our zone style defence simply doesn't work.

Really
Anything in particular giving that away, well that is apart from us not winning and getting pumped every week

No I am not. I forgot you went hence the reason why you commented on McBean's game. You wouldn't ever just look at stats,ie. goals and assume he should be picked for the seniors.

I left 5 minutes into the last but it wasn't a bad game.
One standout for me was Couch. Kid can play. He works really hard.
McBean positions himself well and uses what he has of a body really well too. Surely he is due for another crack at it.
One thing I found astounding was McBean came off for a rest about the 12 minute mark in the second quarter, we had all the play for the last 18 minutes of the quarter but our best forward was on the bench for all of it bar the last 40 seconds. He was just about to have a 15 minute break for half time so why wouldn't you try everything to try and get him back on. Conca as well was on the bench for most of that time too.
Castagna also played well and got involved.
Callum Moore did some nice things too.

That point doesn't really work for WAT like most people. He rates Vickery highly

Callum Moore or Liam McBean should be IN for Vickery!
Callum Moore played good footy forward last year and I thought that was the reason we drafted him but I like the look of him down back. Once he develops a bit more he could be a very handy KPD

Don't know many people that don't. Unfortunately we can't play WAT's style and have no backline and plonk everyone forward. We have no KPD's, especially of quality and this kid has attributes that could make him a very handy KPD.
-
18 in the backline and that's it!!! Every player that comes through the door at the RFC must play in defense to learn anything....
Not everyone, can you for once be rational and not lose your head over any comment that has to do with the backline? I don't think he needs to go back to learn anything, I want him to go back to play him there. It's not that hard to comprehend
-
^^^ He is a froward or can't you comprehend that, he even said himself....oh he must be wrong to.... :lol :lol :lol

If you'd watched much VFL (why won't you answer the question) then you'd know he's actually played all year down back. Had a stint forward last week and obviously went forward this week. Hence why he said he PREFERS forward, not that he is a forward.
-
Kicks 4 goals...prefers forward, plays great there, so lets listen to the likes of incompetents like you and put him in the backline..... :lol
NO wonder we are in the poo we are in, I suppose you are on the coaching panel, probably the backline coach... :lol :lol :lol

Chaplin is a stuffin dud and is killing Richmond
Someone needs to replace him
McBean
C moore
BRoad
It doesn't matter where they prefer to play.
It matters what position of weakness te senior team has
-
^^ so Morris forward worked?? Chaplin forward... Is Dusty better off half back or forward/midfield, was Griff better last night in the backline or forward????
Some players need to be left where they play best. This is another case of that but hey, Hardwick will stuff that up and then no doubt you will complain to no end..
Why was Broad brought in?? To play where...BACK... or should we play him forward???
-
I'd prefer to see Moore down back. A lot of good kpd played forward as juniors that's hardly unusual.
He's obviously capable of playing both but there's more need for him down back. Don't think it's comparable to the Morris situation.

Sounds like a great swingman prospect to me. :shh
-
the info on c moore on the Richmond website is very promising
stoked he kicked four goals
lets he he gets a better run at it than mcbean
-
Callum Moore :bow
But is he as good as Justin Plapp? Or Stuart Edwards? Or Steven Jurica?
Please tell me he's better than Ben Holland? :rollin
-
Looks a much better forward to me.
And I think kicking 4 in his 4 or 5th game of VFL footy shows that he is knows where the goals are.
Also think someone that can take a mark like this kid needs to play forward.
Some guys are just meant to play forward.
-
Sounds like a great swingman prospect to me. :shh
Always had that potential but even more so now if he's started kicking more like John Coleman in front of goal and less like John Butcher....

The problem is.
Chaplin is the worst mature player in the league.
Nick reiwoldt and Pavlich did well in defence.
Someone needs to replace the ape until we get Hurley

VFL Tigers’ second half blitz scorches Roosters
richmondfc.com.au
15th May 2016
Richmond’s VFL side secured its second win of the year with a scorching 79-point victory over North Ballarat under lights at Punt Road Oval.
With scores all tied-up at halftime, the Tigers went on a 15-goal rampage in the second-half to run-out winners, 21.16 (142) to 10.3 (63).
The Tigers midfield brigade was bolstered by the long awaited return of key on-baller Reece Conca who added invaluable class and poise at the coalface.
Conca finished with 22 disposals, six clearances and seven tackles but more importantly got through the game unscathed after returning from a hamstring injury.
After a down week against Port Melbourne in Round 5, the Tigers tackling pressure and intensity around the contest improved, allowing them to consistently create turnovers, and they capitalised accordingly.
Not only did their intensity at the ball and the man improve, but their ability to control the ball and get the game played on their terms for the majority went along way to securing the result.
After only recording 48 uncontested marks in their loss to Port Melbourne, Richmond more than doubled that this week after registering 97, allowing it to move the ball with unhampered fluidity.
The twilight curtain-raiser started superbly for the Tigers with their fanatic pressure in the front-half resulting in early goals to Jacob Ballard and Liam McBean which set the hosts in motion.
North Ballarat answered the challenge and slammed on three goals in quick succession which made the Tigers pay for missed opportunities in front of goal.
However, Richmond was rewarded when key-forward Ryan Bathie’s exquisite right-foot checkside from congestion sailed through, which handed the Tigers a three point-lead heading into quarter-time.
Richmond VFL senior coach Craig McRae was pleased with his side’s first quarter efforts and reiterated to the players that “The game is on our terms, so just play our way”.
The second term didn’t begin as planned, with ill-discipline resulting in the Roosters being handed the easiest of goals, and the early lead.
The Roosters raced to an eight-point lead midway through the second term before budding Tiger forward Anthony Scott executed the perfect double-play.
Scott coolly slotted his first major and in the process was awarded a stuff before the restart, gifting Richmond a six-point lead in the shadows of half-time.
The joy was short lived however as the Roosters caught the Tigers off-guard and squared things up on the stroke of halftime.
Richmond’s first-half effort and intensity could not be questioned, but its ball-use going inside-50 needed sprucing up so it could truly capitalise post half-time.
The second half started swimmingly, as returning Tiger on-baller Conca maneuvered his way through traffic to find Anthony Scott inside-50, who in turn found Liam McBean 15-metres out directly in-front.
And the key Tiger-tall kicked truly.
McBean is somewhat of a barometer for his side, with the enigmatic forward kicking a total of nine goals in Richmond’s two wins this year after his sterling four-goal effort against the Roosters.
This week McBean was not only the focal point, but a perfect foil for burgeoning Richmond swingman Callum Moore who slotted a career and game-high four majors himself.
It was Moore who ignited Richmond’s seven-goal-to-one third term blitz as he sprung from congestion to mark strongly and finished off his impressive aerial display with his first major.
From then on, it was all Richmond, with goals coming to Scott, McBean, Tom Silvestro, Ballard and Bathie as the Tigers surged to a 40-point lead at the final change.
McRae insisted his side celebrate and appreciate the “little wins” and confirmed in his three- quarter time address, “It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it’s full on footy and it’s our way”.
The Tigers squeezed the life out of the Roosters in a dominant eight-goal final term with Oleg Markov’s four-bounce goal down the Jack Dyer Stand wing delighting the Richmond faithful.
Richmond tackled, harassed and methodically picked apart North Ballarat, displaying the synergy and cohesion that had been lacking in weeks prior.
Richmond midfield bull Jacob Townsend showcased his contested prowess with 25 disposals and 12 tackles as Adam Marcon (26 disposals) and Tom Couch (20 disposals) were pictures of consistency.
The Tigers are developing on-field trust and continuity with one another and head into this week’s bye at 2–4, and are six weeks into a 21-week home and away season.

If he gets elevated don't post here again!!!
Bit of a silly comment there. Never said he wasn't a chance at getting elevated but there are plenty of other players I'd rather see elevated before him. As Stalin put it, he isn't part of the cream but if he played he'd just be an addition to the poo flavoured cake. But if you want to be like that fine, but if he doesn't get elevated then you should never post here again.

The VFL Report: Round 6
Brenton Mann, richmondfc.com.au
17 May 2016 12:00 PM
Richmond’s VFL coach Craig McRae provides an exclusive summary of the AFL and VFL-listed players who featured in last Saturday’s match against North Ballarat.
AFL-listed
Adam Marcon
26 disposals, 11 uncontested marks, seven tackles
Continued his great form at VFL-level. He played as a forward and mainly mid and ended up with 26 disposals, 11 marks and seven tackles. He could’ve had a really big day after kicking three behinds.
Jacob Townsend
25 disposals, 17 tackles, one goal, seven clearances
Played his best game for the club. We gave him a role playing on Nick Rippon and he kept him to ten disposals for the three quarters he was on him. He had 25 (disposals) of his own and had 17 tackles in the end, along with seven clearances and a goal, which was a great performance for him.
Jason Castagna
22 disposals, 19 uncontested possessions, 13 handball-receives
Returned from the AFL with a great attitude and had 22 disposals off half-back, four tackles and leading the way again with handball receives, led the team with 13 and kept his man goalless.
Reece Conca
22 disposals, six clearances, seven tackles
Returned from long-term injury, played midfield and played 75 per cent of the game. He was really clean and tough inside and was really important with his six clearances and 22 disposals, setting up many forward opportunities.
Andrew Moore
19 disposals, 11 uncontested possessions, four tackles
Played on a wing this week to try and add some flexibility to his game. He had 19 disposals, a lot of handballs in tight and we’re looking for him to break through and find space and give us another avenue to goal.
Nathan Broad
18 disposals, seven uncontested marks, 12 uncontested possessions
Continued his great form from last week, where he was one of our best players and again set-up a lot of rebound 50s for us and looks like he’s really improving and hitting his best form.
Callum Moore
Four goals, 18 disposals, five marks
Moved forward, we trialled him for a half last week and we started him there this week. He kicked 4.3 which was a great return and showed everyone what he’s capable of and his strengths. His contested marking really stood-out and he’s an exciting prospect up-forward for us.
Oleg Markov
13 disposals, six uncontested marks, six inside 50s, one goal
Played wing and a little bit of half-back. He had really important minutes in the game, particularly in the last quarter where he carried the ball half of the field, had four bounces and kicked an amazing goal. He’s an exciting player.
Dave Astbury
12 disposals, seven uncontested marks, 11 uncontested possessions
Played as a key defender and had five intercept marks — seven marks for the game. He was really hard to play on and was important to stabilise the backline when the ball went inside 50. He looks like he’s in good form.
Ivan Maric
38 hit-outs, five tackles, 10 disposals
He looked like he returned to some of his best form. He dominated hit-outs (38), had five tackles, he also carried the ball, lowered the eyes and had a big presence for us. He was important in the outcome.
Liam McBean
Four goals, 10 disposals, seven marks
Another who played his role well, 4.2 is a got outcome for him on the back of hitting up on the lead and took five marks inside 50.
Ivan Soldo
16 hit-outs, three tackles
Unfortunately received a head-knock in the second quarter and didn’t play the rest of the game.
VFL-listed
Sam Darley
23 disposals, ten handball-receives, 15 uncontested possessions
Named in the VFL representative side on the back of his good form. He continued that this week and played off half-back, he had 23 disposals, ten handball-receives and set-up a lot of great play off half-back.
Jacob Ballard
20 disposals, two goals, 14 uncontested possessions
Played as a forward — kicked two goals, had 20 disposals and looks like he’s returning to some really good form in his second game for us. He can be an important player in the latter half of the year.
Tom Couch
20 disposals, seven clearances, seven tackles, 14 contested possessions
He’s been our most consistent player this season. He continued that this week with 20 disposals, 14 contested possessions and seven tackles was a real highlight.
Nick Mellington
20 disposals, six marks, 14 uncontested possessions, four tackles
He’s been a good role player for us playing wing and midfield and is really flexible. He looks like he’s got an exciting future and is adding great depth to our midfield.
Tom Langford
13 disposals, 11 uncontested possessions, nine handball receives
He’s one of our leaders and really showed the way off half-back and the wing, setting up a lot of play, rebound 50s and the like. He was important in the outcome.
Ash Morris
13 disposals, five marks, three tackles
Played his first game for the VFL. He had a really good pre-season, waited for his opportunity and took it. He’s a great ball user, really composed and looks to have a bright future at VFL-level.
Anthony Scott
Three goals, 13 disposals, four goals
Played as a small forward and leading hit-up player, which is something he hasn’t done up until to this date. His three goals were exciting and he’s got elite hands.
Tom Silvestro
13 disposals, one goal, six tackles
Played as a forward in a bit of a different role for him too, six tackles, four of them inside 50 and his pressure and elite running were a feature.
Ryan Gale
11 disposals, six uncontested marks, eight uncontested possessions
Played as a key defender, is playing his role and kept his man goalless.
Daniel Coffield
Nine disposals, four marks
Our 23rd player on the day, he’s another that looks really composed, he’s played his third game now - looks like he’s a ready made VFL player.
Ryan Bathie
Two goals, nine disposals, three inside 50s
Came in for his first game for the year and ended up playing second ruck and also key-forward for us. He kicked two goals, looked really lively and his workrate was really high.

So is Butler injured?
Have the feeling McBean's papers are already stamped - last AFL-listed player mentioned before Soldo who missed the second half with injury and a matter-of-fact, not overly enthusiastic review, despite kicking 4 goals in a big win.....
-
Butler was an emergency player I think.

Yes. Was added at the last moment when Houli pulled out.
-
ok...missed that....cheers...

good to see costanza go back to the ressies and immediately get plenty of ball and put his hand up again. Excited by Moore's development as a key fwd
-
but they moved him to the backline :banghead
Jason Castagna
22 disposals, 19 uncontested possessions, 13 handball-receives
Returned from the AFL with a great attitude and had 22 disposals off half-back, four tackles and leading the way again with handball receives, led the team with 13 and kept his man goalless.
-
Yes, they are getting him ready to join every other player in the firsts in the backline, just where al thinks they should play!!

But he is a backman....thats where the gang want him in the firsts.. :banghead...must play back with the entire team, how else will he learn to kick goals... :banghead
-
Tell us again what position he was playing before this move?
-

I was talking about castagna

Castagna?
-
Wow.
-
Must admit it was a bit strange seeing Short down back on the weekend when we had Castagna as a small back in form.
From the club website:
Short: "Boasting speed as a small forward, he has also played as a midfielder"
Castagna: "The medium defender is capable of taking the game on"
Carry on WAT.

Wow.
you are referring to this?

:lol :lol :lol :lol
Castagna as far as I know spent all (most?) of his time with us and as an under-18 in the back line. But when you have an issue with someone why not use every example you can even if it is totally off base :lol
