Memorable games: 1995 Semi Final vs Essendon - shirtfronted and knocked out Gary O'Donnell in the 3rd quarter as well as nailed a couple of goals himself; 1992 vs Hawthorn - mostly on the receiving end of Jason Dunstall's 17 goals; Yet got revenge in R3 1995 when he held Dunstall goalless :thumbsup.

Departed RFC: Retired 1999.

Latest sighting: Returns this year to play for Ararat after a 15-year absence in the Wimmera Football League. Prior to that Turner lived in Warrnambool for the last five years. In that time he coached Warrnambool to a Hampden League premiership and was an operations manager with Western Region League.

Even better we went to a Rich v Ess about 2 yrs ago with a mates family who support ESS, we were giving them a
hidding & his mum brought that up - Classic

Outclassed by the power forwards of the 90's as mentioned (including Lockett, Loewe, Longmuir etc), but got the most out of his ability.

Post by: tiga on February 03, 2006, 09:14:15 AM: Not only was he a tough nut and a fierce competitor, he was also very agile and had a good turn of speed. Scotty was one of the great Fullbacks.It was a sad day when he retired. Right up there with "The Tilt" and "Mick Martyn" for sheer toughness.
Whenever he ran onto the ground he always had a look on his face that said he was ready for battle and this rubbed off on the players around him. He was an inspiration to many.

His retirement left a massive hole in our backline

Post by: JohnF on February 03, 2006, 05:05:52 PM: He was hard and tough, had decent speed, but he didn't have much of a footy brain or direction with his kicking. As has been said he struggled on certain full forwards but he didn't recieve that much help from other defenders or from our midfield who were often trounced. Gets hugely overrated for KTFO of O'Donnell, even though I agree, it was a classic moment.
