Loose a Key back, and a second ruck but bring in flankers and small fowards. Not sure how this  works.

Flabbergasted.

Not really. Cox is their only genuine tall and I guess they're backing Astbury to go with him all night. Broadsword, Grimes & Vlas to sort the rest who possess height/marking ability. Only question is who gives Nank a chop out I guess.

I said we needed runners and the coaches listened :shh

Not a fan of the changes but not gonna use it as an excuse for losing. Still expect to win.

Last week we did seem a bit tall but Nank must be going to ruck all night.

It was quite slippery at the G last week, we need fast close to the ground players, think for that reason we have introduced alot of extra speed into the side. Don't think this game will be won or lost through contested marking so don't mind the changes personally.

Balta out is unbelievable. I dont think we can win with this team. Really disappointed in selection.

Balta must be sore surely. Otherwise it’s just a stupid decision.
Get games into the kid FFS.
He did enough last week to keep his spot regardless if Rance went down or not.

George selection was a formality...
Very important player to our forwardline.

Markov IMO can be something if he keeps improving the way he has, so looking forward to seeing him again at AFL level.
He would want to play well as Sydney Stack is probably next cab off the rank across halfback.
He looked sharp last week in the 2’s.

Ellis selection is disappointing to say the least.
He makes Houli look brave.
Garranteed 25 soft, useless possessions.

No way no Balta should have been dropped he can give Nank a chop out so basically no one can now.

Im assuming Vlastuin, Short and Markov will be responsible for their smalls because Broad and Grimes  who normally play on smaller players will have their hands full with DeGoey and Mihocek.

Shame Hardwick cant see past his favorites and kept Balta and gave Ross a run instead of Shatama pantsama Ellis. They probably should have given Stack a go as well instead of Markov.

So you want a guy who is 1 game in from a serious knee injury to take centre square bounces?

Sure he can do some ruckwork at throw ins in our forwardline but would you really want him doing much more than that?

Nank is going to need more help than that.

never said i wanted him to take centre bounces, no reason why he cant ruck around the ground

Yeah, who cares about form when it comes to an incredibly important match  :lol
Why don't we drop your man Short while we're at it and give Ben Miller his first crack at senior footy. After all, he has some height! Maybe he can pinch hit in the ruck.

FFS what is Hardwick doing  :banghead

So how would that work?
Nank is sitting on the bench after rucking most of the quarter and a goal is kicked. Who takes the bounce after that?

I’m going to be odd one out and say that I agree with the thinking but hate the execution.
Nank on Grundy is going to have to work.
I’m okay with Balta being replaced by Georgie - our f50 pressure was horrible last week. Buckley said it himself - our ability to force turnovers from our f50 was our one wood until about r15 last year.
We need the 3 amigos and Lynch will have to pinch hit in the ruck.
Both underdone and a risk imv
Olly is a huge gamble but actually we do need to replace Bachar with our best half back runner so he gets the gig.
I get the need for another runner over Rance as we have the luxury of defenders who are able to play talks and small.
But!
That runner should not be Bellis despite him appearing to be the best option on paper.

So which Ellis are we gonna see?

History suggest more of the same with this pea heart.

I’d be expecting more run and carry at a minimum from him maybe some long kicks to advantage quickly deep into the forward 50 and not the stupid backward chipping sideways nonsense we’ve come to expect from him.

....... one can only hope he’s finally come to his senses.

Yep, it's going to be 27 degrees tomorrow. The team that handles best and outlasts the other in the warm conditions will win. It could make the ball slippery like last week though from all the sweat.

Weird changes but it wouldn’t have been done without heaps of thought.  Will back the coaching team here.

Think they brought in Markov/Ellis for the extra run which we could have used last week.

Miller is on the injury list with appendicitis. Out for 2-3 weeks

Maybe we are sending Balta back to school him on Rance's position. Looking longer term maybe?

Further to that, to me it was very noticable that Collingwood were exhausted by the end of the game against Geelong.
Maybe it IS horses for courses but it seems a big gamble.

Not happy re: Balta but let's be honest, their forward line isn't that tall and playing Balta vs Grundy at his current state > he'd get completely smashed and wouldn't be good for much other than looking semi-tall. I like the kid but Grundy is a genuine A grade big man. Nank is good, Balta is just an athletic kid two inches too short to be a genuine ruck option.

Midfielders need to lift and we probably have to accept we will lose the ruck battle.

Hopefully Balta gets 15 games this year IMO but I don't mind him being spared vs Grundy this early...

Balta doesn't strike me as the sort of player that needs to be "spared" anything.... :shh
