Title: Next 3 weeks are winnable
Post by: mightytiges on April 23, 2006, 05:08:40 AM
Last night wasn't a game to write home about skill-wise and we're a long long way from being a decent side but the next 3 weeks are all winnable games and we should go into them with some confidence after the Brissy win and the fact we knocked off the Blues, Bombers and Swans in the corresponding games last year.

Carlton is no gimme given they'll have Fevola and Waite back up forward and we've lost to them even when they have been crappier than us the last few years. I would love it if we gave them another pasting at the 'G like last year  :yep.

The Bombers are playing better than I thought they would be this year but losing diving boy for the year is a major blow.

The Swans have so far been in a premiership hangover and in any case we seem to match up on them pretty well either down here in Melbourne or up at the SCG. Usually down to the wire games most times.

I completely agree. Blues never really looked like beating an ordinary Swans performance at Docklands and I really believe we can do them and after that anything is possible. it is big game time now. Carlton, essendon aand the premiers in a row and we can do it.

Anyone like to predict the attendance v Carlton? last years round 7 at the G drew 52,234. I think that will be beaten. I don't predict a really huge blockbuster crowd - after all we are 1-3 and thay are no great shakes but at the G following a win ...what do you reckon? 55,000 plus?

I would say 60-65,000. The first game for both clubs at the new 'G on a Friday night might get some people to just rock up straight after work.

we should pump this game up for all its worth...big dollars for the club if they get it right.

Without getting too far ahead  of Friday night, SEN has just reported that Hird has done a hammy. If they're right then that's No Lloyd or Hird when we play the Dons next week.

I don't mind winning the next 3 games, as long as we manage to get a priority pick though  :whistle

We're only % out of the top 8  :thumbsup

What a shame the Dons got done by a point in a hard slog ;D. Hopefully we can run them off their legs in the second half.

the dons have not lost 5 str8 for a very long time! lets hope we are the team to add vinegar to their wounds!

but what scares me is that all the next 3 games are winable, this is when the tigers usually fall, when they are expected to win. lets hope the team is mentally tougher and can get on with it

I hope I'm wrong but Adelaide will pump us  :(. Dons and Swans games however are very winnable.

Teams we can/have beat this year.

Brisbane
Carlton
Essendon
Hawthorn
Fremantle
Nth Melbourne
Melbourne
Sydney
St Kilda -  next time
Bulldogs - next time
Colon-wood.

If our form continues to improve as the season goes along, there is no reason why we should have any problems beating the trash mentioned above.

St Kilda -  next time

The Saints should be 1-4. We had them until Will did his knee.
Title: How are Essendon favourites ???
Post by: mightytiges on May 01, 2006, 10:11:04 PM
Centrebet:

Essendon  $1.80
Richmond  $2.00

WTF! ???

How is a side that's lost 4 in a row favorites over one that's won their last two  ???

Hey MT i noticed that too and thought it a bit odd.Maybe centrebet has gone into meltdown after the saints freo game!

We also knocked off the bombers last year at the G in fairly wet conditions.

No lloyd to worry about who usually has a nice time against us.

Could be just the fact that the bombers have had the wood on us in recent years.

The scoreboard flattered them last year. You would hope we will be too quick for them through the midfield.

I am hoping to do to the bombers what we did to carlton last year at the G.

They are a team that i have had a gutful of.

We owe them a shellacking or 3.

I know that TW loves to take on Sheeds and still takes much pleasure from his doggies ending their unbeaten run in 2000.

I wonder if they will put Solomon on Richo again?

I hope so. Solomon is so out of form it ain't funny. Haven't seen so many Bomber fans hang it on him since he almost came to Richmond that time. Thank gawd he changed his mind.

I was just going to say that MT.  Obviously the media hates Richmond.  Up here it is a bit more even with 5/10 tipping Richmond.  Roger Merrett, of course, the big loser, always tips against us.  :wallywink Normally Premier Peter Beattie tips for us but not this week.

i would reckon that again our next 3 games are all winnable
the cats are looking very vulnerable
freo are playing some very ordinary footy poor decision making and fragile under pressure
the kangs are struggling  esp to post a winning score

the TIGE's could well be 7 and 4 at the half way mark of the season and still a heap of games left at the "G"

It is almost always a cliche to say it depends which Richmond turns up but it is simply true with us at the moment.

If the team that battled and fought to tight wins turns up we willl win but if the alter ego, the lame shower which gets whipped turn up we will lose.

6-5 at the half way mark would be excellent and give us something to look forward to in a race for the 8 which realistically is all we can seriously expect.

I'd still treat the Geelong game as a dangerous one.  When was the last time we beat Geelong and particularly at Skilled Stadium?

I'd still treat the Geelong game as a dangerous one.  When was the last time we beat Geelong and particularly at Skilled Stadium?

R7, 1990 - 13.18 (96) to 9.28 (82). We've lost our last 8 down there although we've only had to travel down there twice in the past 7 years and since 96 we've been in a good chance to win each game but fallen short.

Big danger game as the pussies are now in our shoes and we're in Adelaide's.
