Moi and I saw BB do a similar thing about the Tiges.
1. Which Essendon champion was signed by them just before he was expected to come down to Tigerland and play in a trial match?
2. Which two Essendon players did we draft in 1991?
3. Which player did Tiger Max Oppy tag in the 1943 GF and what was curious about the match-up?
4. Richmond and Essendon have played each other at Punt Road, the MCG and Windy Hill. What 5 other grounds have hosted contests between the two sides?
5. Steven Taubert and Mark Eustice not only played for Richmond and Essendon, but what other team as well?
6. How many premierships did idiot Reynolds coach Essendon to?
7. Name the three Richmond premiership players involved in the Dons' 1985 premiership side?
8. How many Brownlows did Bill Hutchison win?
9. Which Bomber was suspended for 16 weeks for head-butting boundary umpire Graham Carbery?
10. Because of a quirk in the final series that year, the 1924 Essendon premiership side is the only premiership team in VFL/AFL history to do what?

Trick question I think. Kevin Sheedy and Kevin Morris.

Beat you by that much MT. Did I get any right?
-
Yes you did TS :thumbsup
2. Michael Thompson was the other - Nup. The player didn't play senior footy.
3. idiot Reynolds. - Correct TS. Now what was curious about the match-up?
4. How about the Gabba? - Nup. Only league games and all grounds are/were in Melbourne.
7. Kevin Sheedy and Kevin Morris. - Correct :thumbsup
10. Finished on the bottom after the h&a season and then won the premiership - Nup that was Fitzroy in 1916. WP's answer is very close.
Questions 2, 3 (second part), 4 and 10 to go.

Michael Thompson was the other
Mr Brigitte Duclos.
4. Lake Oval (Sth Melb) - old night match venue. Maybe Junction Oval?
-

Correct with those two FF :).
One left - (clue: it no longer exists).

Don't forget Red Cliffs :thumbsup
How about glenferrie?
-
Don't forget Red Cliffs :thumbsup
How about glenferrie?
Nup. The venue no longer physically exists.
Red Cliffs, Morwell etc weren't played for 4 points.

Correct with those two FF :).
One left - (clue: it no longer exists).
Waverley Park?
-
3. idiot Reynolds. - Correct TS. Now what was curious about the match-up?
Not sure MT. Stab in the dark. Oppy was our FF and lined up on Reynolds who was their FB? That’s gotta be curious.
4. How about the Gabba? - Nup. Only league games and all grounds are/were in Melbourne.
Don’t know what it’s called, but something about a ground that hasn’t existed for yonks, along the lines of Flemington somewhere, show grounds. Something like that. Wasn’t that where Ess used to play before Windy Hill?
10. Because of a quirk in the final series that year, the 1924 Essendon premiership side is the only premiership team in VFL/AFL history to do what?
Won the premiership after a count back.
-
4. Lake Oval (Sth Melb) - old night match venue. Maybe Junction Oval?
Correct with those two FF :).
One left - (clue: it no longer exists).
McCracken's paddock at Flemington Hill?? If not, the Ascot Vale Hotel car park?? :lol
-
Nup. The venue no longer physically exists.
Brunswick St Oval? Was Fitzroy's ground before they moved to the Junction Oval.
The stand burnt down years ago and then the wall around the ground was knocked down. It's a park now rather than a venue.
(After that rant I bet it's not it 8))
-
:rollin @ tiga
Waverley Park?
Waverley/VFL/AFL Park was one of them but it's already been given and it still exists (i.e. you can go there).
This VFL ground no longer exists at all and if you went to the spot where it use to be you would most likely be run over by a train entering and exiting Flinders St.
-
3. Stab in the dark. Oppy was our FF and lined up on Reynolds who was their FB? That’s gotta be curious.
Clue: more along personal lines.
4. Wasn’t that where Ess used to play before Windy Hill?
The correct answer was Essendon's home ground before they moved to Windy Hill. What was it called?
10. Won the premiership after a count back.
Nup. WP was correct to say they lost. But what game did they lose that no other premiership side in VFL/AFL history has lost?
-
Hang on....How about the east Melbourne Cricket ground??
-
Hang on....How about the east Melbourne Cricket ground??

Questions 2 (second player), 3 (second part) and 10 to go.

idiot Reynolds.
They were brothers-in-law.
-
3. Stab in the dark. Oppy was our FF and lined up on Reynolds who was their FB? That’s gotta be curious.
Clue: more along personal lines.
Wasn't Max Oppy - King Richard's brother in law
-
I hear an echo :rollin
I had them down as related some other way. Hope this isn't one of these dodgy OER questions lol.
-
10. The bombers won a premiership without winning a grand final as it was a round robin series?
-
3. Which player did Tiger Max Oppy tag in the 1943 GF and what was curious about the match-up?

10. The bombers won a premiership without winning a grand final as it was a round robin series?
Like WP you're very close tiga. Not quite the answer as they did what you said in 1897.
Clue is to think laterally. What game does every premiership side win each year that Essendon lost in the 1924 round robin finals series. It was against Richmond too.

Nup.
Which match does the premiership team win that no other side does each year? Essendon in 1924 didn't win this match.
-
10. winning a finals series on percentage??
That's true they did win by % but it's not the answer. See reply to WP's last post.
-
The Grand Final. :-\
-
The Grand Final. :-\
I Concur
-
The Grand Final. :-\
There was no GF that year. The answer is obvious when you think about it. Yes it usually is called the Grand Final but put simply in terms of the 176 games per year what is it?

the final game of the bloody season :banghead ;D
semifinal

the final game of the bloody season :banghead ;D
:rollin
Correct WP :thumbsup. The Bombers in 1924 were the only premiership side not to win the final game of the year. Bloody cheats, Richmond won that game but Essendon were given the flag on % despite both sides having two wins a piece in the round robin finals series.
Question 2 left to go.
-
Never heard of the bloke so I won't answer. Plus I cheated and looked on this site's draft list info to find out. :-X
-

Hark! at what I say:-
"Once a tiger always a tiger"
'It's in the BLOOD'
I know because my bloodline at Richmond goes back to the late 1830's
-
As a former player Sheeds cares about the Tigers but his heart is with Essendon as he supported them as a kid.
