The girls have taken over the joint. Well done to them all and good luck to our new director. Good appointment.
-
Is this a Board or a book club now?
-
As long as they are the best candidate it doesnt matter if they are male or female.

Not enough high level football experience on the board for my liking, I guess they rely on the football dept to get it right, makes Benny’s role very important
-
Sounds like a very high achiever. Good get tiges

Don’t care if she’s a martian providing she’s a tiger fan

How many miners on the BHP Board ?
Not too many I would suggest

How many of them are token appointments though?
This is a footy club and we have 2 people on a 10 person Board who either played or had any role in the game. Its a massive concern and means we are now heavily reliant on Gale. If and when he goes we are stuffed.
Gary March is on record saying that in the Clinton Casey era they didn't have anyone on the Board who understood how important recruiting was so we were years behind the other clubs.

Token appointment !! LOL
Massive concern !! LOL
You obviously don't understand the roles & responsibilities of the Board or any Board for that matter.

Real neanderthal thinking.
Do you reckon Peggy has done a bad job?
Dont think she had much of a playing career.....

It might be worth you sharing how you think boards work and the way boards are appointed in your experience.
That might help context for your post.

Kate Sheehan will be replacing Benny as CEO at this rate

Kate Sheehan will be replacing Benny as CEO at this rate
Will be beaten to the job by Jack Higgins, who has played footy for several years and was pretty good at it because that's the main criteria for a board member who runs the business side of a franchise.

Watch this space and btw Kate played footy for the scum before recruiting all her mates to our club. Why hasn't the board made a call on her? Its pretty obvious she has stuffed up the list build yet keeps her job while the likes of Leppa and McCrae depart? Make sense?
Benny played footy and seems to be going ok as CEO? A long list of failures before him barely played a game.
I've seen many companies fail due to token appointments to meet external expectations.
I also believe far too much credit gets given to Peggy. Her greatest achievement has been keeping Benny happy. Outside of that she has overseen some questionable investments which continue to bleed cash (aligned leisure) and changed the constitution so the existing Board controls all new appointments. Her agreement to the Amazon doco also changed my previous thoughts that she was humble and happy to operate in the background.

Look the whole board has done a great job and deserve credit , but I rated Gary March highly doesn't receive the credit he deserves for me Clinton Casey left us in a big hole on and off the field.

Good to see Mrs Palmer on board. I know her and the way she works like the back of my hand.
-
Great appointment by the looks. Very well credentialed.

Peggy did not change the constitution; the members did. The members voted the changes in, well those who could be bothered to vote. Those who couldn't be bothered cannot complain now.
To suggest that Peggy made changes is incorrect.
As for Aligned Leisure, yes as part its initial set up and early operation it lost money. But that isn't the case now and with gyms across the state operating again that venture will continue to be good source of income and profit for the club
Just on the Sheehan, Leppa, McCrae argument. Two key points that are intrinsically linked
1/ one of the 3 had a contract for 2021. 2 didn't.
2/ 3 million cut from the soft cap
There is no bigger critic of Kate Sheehan than me. But clearly having a contract saves her. Flicking her would cost and that cost would be included in the cap. As too would any cost to hire a replacement.
With the soft cap cuts we were going to lose people out of the footy department. Not having a contract in a way created the decisuon rather than having to make it.

IIRC the Amazon doco was originally following Benny Gale around but due to covid restrictions & lockdowns last year Peggy had to step in in his place.
As for the constitution change to allow for the appointment of board directors, as WP said that was passed by a members' vote. I was at that AGM and only 3 people voted against that change (all from OER for your info). You can't complain about the result of a vote if you didn't vote.

Players play,
Coaches coach,
Administrators administrate,
Supporters barrack.
Continue to set the AFL standard RFC, finally a professional organisation with values and aspirations rather than a closed boys club.

Gary March was the start of the current era’s success imho, under appreciated , recruited Gale for starters
The best Boards have a balance, no one disputes our success with current members but it helps to have a balance from many relevant areas without losing the fact that football is the reason for the clubs existence
