for mine
Knobel in for Stafford
Jackson in for Krakouer
Gaspar & Johnson should come in ... 2 players who don't deserve it is gonna miss out.
we need bigger bodies this week.
-
knobel in 4 stafford
sugar will come in 4 JON or bling, but he should come in for COGS!
krak is safe!
the ? are on the heads of COGS and bling.
Foley will play, we need him in and under v the swans
i would drop cogs, he is slow and disposal pathetic
keep the kids in
ok
here it is
in: knobel, sugar(if fit)
out: staff and cogs
-
I doubt Johnson will play this week because we are at Telstra - hard surface like that may not be great for a bloke with a dodgy hammy problem
If Knobel's fit I'd consider him but I'd be loathed to drop Staffy we need his footy smarts
-
One thing for sure Polo ain't getting dropped
-

X, some of his disposal could be better, but I don’t think he’s alone there. And maybe you could go back and watch the last quarter of Saturday night’s game, because he may have done some unmemorable things, but believe it or not he did some good things too, which were crucial to the win. If you care to open your other eye.
In the last few minutes of the game, when we were 9 or 10 points down, who was on the ground and got the handball to Tiv, who goaled, to get us back in the game? If you said Cogs then you were right.
Then, when the ball was down the other end and the Bombers were pressing to score, who was making sure the ball didn’t get out for them to score? If you said Cogs then you’re right again.
Just before the end of the game, when the ball came out of our F50 and Ess were trying to get the ball quickly down to their forward line, who was there to take a saving mark, only to be spoiled by a teammate? If you said Cogs then right again. Hardly worth worrying about really, seeing as we did win by a whole 2 points.
But we’ll just continue to put the boots in anyway. At some stage, he may go past his use by date, but between now and then we don’t need to hear it from you every other week. For whatever reason, we know you don’t like him, but I’m sure the coaches can work things out for themselves. Without the grudge.
-
I'm actually pretty happy with how Coughlan is going too TS. His disposal is ordinary and I think there should almost be a team rule 'Cogs doesn't kick to a contest' but if he can maintain his high workrate and do the tuff stuff in the middle then he serves a purpose well enough.
-
u guys cant concince, im tired of watching tigers below standard and in teh team just because they may have tuff qualities. foley is just as good , if not better than cogs in the clinches, and his disposal is far better! tuck also. we cant drop players with skill just because cogs is hard! not good enough.
if u cant kick 9/10 properly, back to coburg u go, we put up with duncan kellaway for far too long and gaspar, these blokes infect the side with bad disposal virus. cogs needs to drop back to a pace suited to him, look at polo, 1st game , and put cogs to shame. JOn looks teh goods to, if sugar is fit, cogs must go
-
I dont believe in devaluing players like Coughlan he shouldnt be dropped, it seems everyone wants the outsider types but remember they gotta get the ball first. Coughlan stays in for mine.
-
The only change I would make is Sugar in if fit. Keep Staff in against his old side and stretch them for height down back alongside Richo. Richo usually does well against the Swannies. A few recent B.O.Gs.

I’ll pay that one – terrific hands

He was one of a number of players (Newman being a standout as well) but agree he was good in tight there.

If this was the play just inside the centre square – then I have to disagree with you on this one TS because from where I was sitting in the Ponsford stand the player attempting to take the mark was Richo (man in front) and the person spoiling was Cogs – it could have been costly
It’s interesting (considering the topic of alternate Guernsey has raised its head again on the other thread) that after incident bg25 (who was one of the people in our group) questioned whether Cogs had got confused with the jumper and mistook Richo’s jumper as an Essendon player in hurly burly pace of the game.
Look I will put up my hand and say I have been pretty critical of Cogs this year and that maybe partly my fault because I have pretty high expectations of certain players but I just do not understand why he persists with kicking on his left foot especially when he is not under pressure.
When he is under pressure I can understand it but when he is under no pressure it doesn’t make sense to me at all because IMHO he just doesn’t have the penetration in kicking on the left side and the left foot kicks have during the season been costly.
Would I drop him? No because we need a good balance of in and under midfielders but his I have to say his kicking is frustrating me no end, exactly like Tiv did last year
-

We're discussing Cogs, so that's who I'm focusing on WP. Agree that others were good too.

It was in the last minute of play, round about there.
Happy to stand corrected WP, but I'm sure if you watch it again you'll see that Cogs was in front. Richo came from behind and then attempted to take the mark to Cogs' left side. If Richo thought he could take it then he should've called Cogs out.
-
I agree WP, whilst his disposal has been ordinary, I still feel he adds value and experience to the team but if he doesn't improve his disposal soon he has to be Coburg bound. I would probably spell Bling before Cogs at this stage.
If Sugar comes back in, I'll be keeping my usual eye on him as he also has been pretty ordinary on the disposal front so far.
Staff on the mobility side was running like herman munster out there on sat night and was kicking the same way. I expect he will probably be dropped for Knobel.
On Tiv, you can tell he's out of contract at the end of the season. ;D Haven't seen him play this well since the last time he was about to come off contract. :rollin Sure he still makes blunders from time to time but he has that off contract sparkle in his eye and is starting to do some game shaping stuff! If we were able to put him on a weekly incentive based contract, he'd win the bloody brownlow! :lol
I'd keep Clever and JON in the side and give them another go against the Swans.
Out: Bling, Staff
In: Sugar (reluctantly), Knobel

Would we be too tall if we played Knobel and Staff, considering we are playing at the Dome. More than likely under the roof and in dry conditions.
If we have Richo, Staff and Simmo/Cleve rotating up forward and Knobel/Simmo rotating in the ruck i doubt the swans could cover them all. I suppose we have to get it down there first also.
-
The last time we went in with more talls was against the Dogs. Don't like the idea. We could get run off our feet again by the smaller swans outfit.
-
What's the situation re Chaffey - when is he likely to be available?

Didn't play for Coburg on the weekend and said last week at the Player Link dinner it could be a few weeks before he comes back through the Burgers
-
Agree Bully and tiga. We have more than enough talls to handle the Swans. 4 midfielders on the bench as we did against the bombers.
We haven't won a last quarter this year have we?

Still in the rehab group at training last I saw. Came back from his OP but then copped a calf injury. IMO this will be his last year.
-
gee could be a long way back for Chaffey even if fit. Who are you going to drop to squeeze him in?
Hartigan, Raines, Hyde, Newman - Nope!

Gaspar, Johnson in Tiger frame

Sportal for afl.com.au
The good news just keeps coming out of Punt Road with the Tigers, buoyed by three successive wins and their second NAB Rising Star award nomination in just six rounds, set to regain captain Kane Johnson and deputy-vice-captain Darren Gaspar for Saturday's clash against reigning premiers Sydney at Telstra Dome.
While Dean Polo's debut against Essendon – which saw him join Andrew Raines as the two Tigers already nominated for the award won by their teammate Brett Deledio last year – was still the talk of Tigerland on Tuesday, Wallace is already setting his sights on the Swans.
The Tigers defeated Sydney by a point at the MCG in their only meeting during the Swans' premiership year last year but will be boosted significantly for this year's clash.
Wallace has already declared Gaspar, out for the past three matches with a hamstring injury, a certain starter, which is a huge boost for the Tigers as Gaspar will almost certainly get the job of curbing Sydney dangerman Barry Hall.
And he is increasingly confident that skipper Johnson, who missed last week's win over Essendon with a far less serious hamstring injury than Gaspar, will also return to lead the side this week.
"It wasn't a strain or a tear (of the hamstring) as such, we erred on the side of caution last week but we are hoping he will play this week," Wallace said of Johnson.
"Our expectation is he will take part in our main training session tomorrow (Wednesday) and he was able to run both last Saturday and Monday."
Wallace said he was thrilled the Tigers were able to win such a tight game last week without Johnson and Gaspar and vice-captain Nathan Brown, who will be sidelined for at least another week as he continues strengthening his injured leg.
"We know we have still got a lot of ground to make up and last year we lost games to teams higher on the ladder and beat sides that were lower than us on the ladder," he said.
"We are doing the same thing again this year but we have done it with a lot more senior players out (through injury) and with a lot more young players in the side."
While Wallace was delighted with last week's win over Essendon, he said he was concerned by another last quarter fade-out from his team after the Bombers turned a 16 point deficit early in the final term into a ten point lead before the Tigers rallied to win.
The Tigers are yet to win a final quarter this season and Wallace admits he is searching for answers, fully aware that this week's opponents Sydney trailed by 33 points at three-quarter-time in last year's clash at the MCG before storming home to lose by only a point.
"We are looking at our last quarters and asking where, how and why (we aren't winning them),' he said.
"It's something we have got to be concerned about and will keep working on and we have done a bit of work with the players internally this week as to why we believe it's happening."

I'd say that Krakour and JON will make way for Gaspar and Johnson.
X, like your passion for the Krak, but ludicrous to suggest that he stays and Cogs goes. I think Krak got 10 posessions and had 6 clangers. His only goal was actually terrible team play. He stole the ball off Hartigan's hands when he was about to mark 15 metres out and then snapped over his shoulder when a tiger player was in the square alone. Just as well he kicked it!
Krak's got great hands, makes (and misses) a lot of tackles and got some great intuitive skill. He can also be an effective clearance player at times. I am and have been very patient with him but he just doesn't do enough. His tackles rarely result in turnovers, he gets pushed off the ball too easily, he is a tad slow and hasn't got an engine. Also while his goal kicking can be freakish his field kicking is often scrubby.
Krak needs to go down to Coburg and play midfield, build up his endurance and confidence and return when he adds value to the team. Suggestion to drop Cogs is ludicrous, although he needs to eliminate the nothing kicks which are increasingly coming into his game. Was a vital player in the last 10 minutes and has been good last few weeks. We would be travelling pretty well if we could afford to drop Cogs. And furthermore it would devastate my 16 year old daughter who mostly (only?) goes to the games to swoon over the golden boy.
Glove signing off.

I thought you have taken the gloves off & laid down the gauntlet

Sports Tonight said Sugar was an unlikely starter because he left the track early. I saw him walk off without any discomfort and he didn't have a disappointed look on his face. Hopefully just all part of his preparation.
The Glove - welcome aboard OER :)

Thanks MightyTiiges - hard to get a nibble around here though - must be using the wrong bait - probably should throw a bit of 'Tivendale ' in the water - that usually does the trick.
PS Well played Tivs in 2006 - as long as you dont start thinking too deeply you'll be OK!

Have another Krak lol.

Reported on Ch10 news that we have an unchanged line up with Gaspar and Johnson both listed as emergency's.
Surely Gas would play if he is fit. :-\
