Prestia (ankle) the only issue and that could be precautionary.
Who goes out for Cotch and Dusty?
Does Tarrant come back in?
Fire away with your changes?
-
Hard decisions. Prolly Stack out for Dusty, RCD for Cotchin.Don't think Tarrant plays.
-
I wouldn’t bring Tarrant back. Keep Balta back! Tarrant gives away too many free kicks.
Keep the forward structure as is. Keep defence as is.
Outs:RCD - he’s done ok but it wouldn’t hurt him to get more synergy and consistency in the VFL and he will get more opportunities when Cotchin is managed
Stack - unfortunate because I like him in the team but continuing to work his arse off in the VFL will do him good
Ins: Cotchin
Martin
-
INS: Dusty, Cotchin
OUTS: Stack, Castagna (but it will probably be RCD), Ross
If RCD is dropped, hope he ends up being the sub.
Certainly wouldn't bring in Tarrant. His last 2 games were woeful
-
In Cotch Martin
Out Ross Soldo.
RCD sub. Unsure we need both rucks vs Pies with no Grundy
-
Ins- Dusty
Outs- Prestia (injured ankle & should be 'managed' for a week)
Would also consider Cotchin in for Ross ...

Good points. :thumbsup
-
Out: Edwards (managed), Ross
In: Dusty, Cotch
Reckon Prestia sub was super precautionary. If we weren’t already up by 10+ goals he may have played through it.
-
Hardwick was confident Cotchin would be available to face the Pies along with veteran defender Robbie Tarrant, who was managed on a five-day break, and Marlion Pickett after a hamstring injury.

Who has been playing on the opposite wing to kmac? Pickett was one of our best players before his injury but not sure who comes out in his place.
-
Out
Prestia if inj
Stack omit
Ross omit
In
Dusty
Cotchin
Change RCD to med sub and probably just rest Edwards in the 3rd quarter with a bollocks excuse.
Wouldn't play Tarrant.
Keep Soldo in the team and monster the crap out of them in the ruck again.

Need to keep Stack in.
Yes, Ross out. Maybe rest Prestia as well.
Martin & Cotchin are BIG ins

Collingwood play a smaller more mobile forward line. So I wouldn't bring in Tarrant. Otherwise Balta will have to moved out of defence which upsets the balance elsewhere.
In: Cotch, Dusty, Dow.
Out: Prestia (don't think we'll risk him), Stack, Ross (sub).
Prestia (inj) --> Cotch
Stack ---------> Dusty (play as a forward)
Ross (sub) ----> Dow
It won't happen but I'd have Sheds as the sub. It either can be used as a "rest" or if he comes on he can be used as an impact player later on in the game when the opposition legs are more lethargic.
George survives but back as being mainly a speedy small pressure forward along with Maurice.
I wouldn't be dropping RCD. The only way I see the Pies beating us is if they get well on in the middle (see last quarter last year :P). So I'd load up our midfield depth. Play two legitimate rucks with no Grundy and then as deep a rotating midfield as possible.
B: Gibcus Balta Vlastuin
HB: Baker Grimes D.Rioli
C: Short Cotchin McIntosh
HF: Bolton Riewoldt M.Rioli
F: Castagna Lynch Martin
R: Nankervis Lambert Dow
Int: Soldo, RCD, Broad, Graham.
Sub: Edwards
-
Dusty out of the square all day.
-
Going to have a look on telly now just to refresh the mind as it became a bit hazy by the end.
Just a point on Collingwood they may not have a lot of talls around 195 plus but they do have a hell of a lot of mobile talls around 190 192cm.
-
In Martin, Cotchin
Out: Ross, Soldo, Prestia(inj)
Soldo unlucky.

Tigers face hard choices at selection table with Martin, Cotchin set to return
Jake Niall
The Age

Richmond face a rare selection squeeze for Saturday’s huge clash with Collingwood, with Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin set to return, Robbie Tarrant available, and Marlon Pickett likely to be available.
The Tigers thus face difficult calls on leaving players out - Cotchin and Martin, clearly, are certain selections - given their impressive 109-point mauling of West Coast and the successful positional changes they made.
But Dion Prestia is in some doubt, rated by the Tigers as a “reasonable chance” - probably 50-50 - to play against the Magpies. Prestia was subbed out of the Eagles game at three-quarter time due to a sore Achilles and soleus muscle tightness.
Sydney Stack and Maurice Rioli jnr were successful inclusions for the West Coast game, for which Cotchin and Tarrant were rested, in part because the match involved a flight to Perth and the Tigers felt it was safer to leave the veteran pair out.
Pickett was unavailable for the Eagles game for personal reasons, but is expected also to be available for Collingwood, giving Damien Hardwick further options, even if he and his match committee opt not to risk Prestia.
The Tigers discovered another midfield option as a result of Cotchin’s absence, having moved Jayden Short from his customary position at half-back. Short had 31 disposals a whopping 792 metres gained - the most by any player - to be one of his team’s best.
Short’s position in defence was filled by Liam Baker, who was shifted from half-forward to defence.
Stack was relatively quiet against West Coast, with just five disposals, while Maurice Rioli impressed with three goals, in what admittedly was a game that lacked pressure and saw several Tigers have high numbers, Tom Lynch among them with 7.5.
Collingwood, meanwhile, has suggested via coach Craig McRae that they intend to retain last week’s debutant Aidan Begg and not bring back out of form American Mason Cox, who dominated in a one-sided VFL game. Ollie Henry booted seven goals in the VFL against Coburg and would clearly be under consideration for promotion in a match in which the Pies will be underdogs, despite their eighth position on the ladder and 4-3 record.

Castagna out for Martin would be a dream
-
In: Cotchin, Pickett, Martin
Out: Stack, Edwards, RCD (or Prestia if injured)
Leave Tarrant out.
-
In: Cotchin, Martin, Pickett
Out: Ross, Castagna, RCD - Edwards moves to the sub.

Leave Tarrant out.
Yep, I'll go with this. I'd keep RCD & rest Prestia, even if he's 90% fit. He just can't keep going from injury to injury, yo yo-ing in & out of the side every other week. Rest, recover properly, then return.
Leaving Tarrant out made all the difference to our structure, more of that. He is depth & experience & he can be all of that in the twos ...

Team Tips:
There’s a selection squeeze at the Tigers ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster clash, with several players that were part of the 109-point win going to be stiff to miss the clash against the Pies. Room will, of course, be made for superstar Dustin Martin, who’s set to play his first AFL game since Round 1, while triple premiership skipper Trent Cotchin should also return. Veteran defender Robbie Tarrant, who was managed on a five-day break, will be available, as will Marlion Pickett. So who misses out? Injury-prone Dion Prestia is in doubt after he was subbed out at three-quarter time with an Achilles injury, although Richmond is reportedly confident he’ll be fit to face the Pies off an eight-day break. The most likely candidates to make way would be Sydney Stack (five disposals) and Jack Ross (activated sub), but Maurice Rioli (three goals) and Riley Collier-Dawkins (16 disposals) would be incredibly unlucky to miss out.

Will you tell him or shall I? :P

Given wet weather is forecast and Grundy won’t be playing wouldn’t be surprised to see soldo drop out.

Chris Stubbs on Ch 7 arvo news:
- Dusty and Cotch trained fully today. So both likely to come in.
- Prestia didn't train. Nor did Vlastuin, Grimes and Lambert.

In the mix: Round 8

The selection crunch is on at Tigerland, with Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin, Marlion Pickett, Hugo Ralphsmith, Thomson Dow and Robbie Tarrant all likely to be available. Given the current strong backline mix, Tarrant may find it tough to force his way back in, unless Noah Balta is pushed forward. Dion Prestia (ankle/Achilles/illness) has a lengthy injury history and the club will be loath to risk him. Sub Jack Ross (six touches), inclusion Sydney Stack (five) and Riley Collier-Dawkins could be the ones to make way, while Maurice Rioli Jnr would consider himself stiff to be omitted after three goals and great pressure work.
Verdict: Martin, Cotchin and Pickett for Ross, Stack and Prestia.

My 'Spy' says Prestia is absent from training today. So presumably Dion won't play this week.
-
According to Dimma's presser, Dusty and Cotch are back. Seems Pickett will be too.
Dimma spoke about Tarrant and with Collingwood having a smaller forward line Dimma said he has to decide whether to bring him back this week or not.
As far as 'outs', Prestia is unlikely. Has a cold/flu (not covid) on top of the ankle injury. Dion will make the decision as he knows his body but he's unlikely. Stack too seems out going by what Dimma said. Hopefully not Maurice as well.

No Vlastuin at training either :-\.

The ins of of Cotch and dusty are non negotiables.
But Pickett ? He can wait. He’s been good this year but he isn’t the long term answer.
Changes should be ross and Prestia out and dusty and Cotchin in. Castagna medical sub.
