Well we all know what happened to us last year by preparing too early and it appears that a couple of clubs namely the Hawks and the Dogs appear that they may be heading down the same track. The Dogs possibly to a lesser extent. The Cats also appear to be on a bit of a downward trot also. With TW's later preparation, does this mean we will be more competitive in the back half of the season and possibly aiming for a top 8 possie? The Lions, like us, have been decimated by injury but they are regular late bloomers. Is timing a teams pre season preparation the key to making finals footy?
Can anyone see a pattern here and does anyone know the preparation timing of other clubs?

Terry definitely said at the start of the year that he was taking it slower with us this year. When he took over he wanted to break the losing streak quickly so had eveyone up and ready to play by Christmas in ready for 2005. For 2006 he wanted to focus more on individual issues early on then work on team aspects. Our draw made that decision easier. We finish with Essendon, Carlton and Brissy and the Eagles at the G. If we're still up and running at the start of August and don't have too many injuries then those games are all winnable.
As for other clubs. The Saints went slow as well trying to peak at the end of the season. Kosi's woes and Penny and Aussies Jones retiring prematurely have stuffed things up for them as they don't have a decent back-up ruckman and their backline is weak. I'd reckon the Swans are just pacing themselves. The Cats, Pies and Dogs look like they've peaked early. The Bombers are just slow fullstop ;D.
