Any OERites boldly making the trip over there?

We had a habit last year of playing down to the level of the opposition, kangas, suns and crows come to mind. Hoping we come out firing and put the game out of reach early.

Yes going.

I want to see a dominant win

You think, the crows game it was simple we hit critical mass playing too many ordinary players. Imo i reckon the west coast game could not have come soon enough for us because we were poor up to then despite scraping two wins.
How many games have we lost just like thursdays draw where we had so many fwd 50 entries and could not capitalise.
Imo its something that has been lying just under the surface for awhile.
-
McAdam rubbed out. So, he'll miss our game.
-
Hmm i will cop the criticism if we win but Crows by 10.
-
Never confident against them over there myself but I think we have the list to beat them still. Will be hard though and wouldn't be surprised if we lost.

Adelaide v Richmond preview
Adelaide and Richmond clash as winless sides after failing to get over the line in Round 1.
The Crows led GWS by 28 points at half-time but were overrun and eventually lost by 16 points against GWS in extremely hot conditions in Western Sydney.
The Tigers enjoyed 21 more inside 50s against Carlton in the season opener but were unable to convert, settling for a draw.
This venue hasn’t been all that kind to the Tigers when up against the Crows, winning just two of seven since 2014. They did lob in the City of Churches by 44 points in 2020 but the Crows did the job last year, saluting by 19 points despite their opponents enjoying more of the attacking play.
Matthew Nicks’ message to his Crows will likely be around the contest in midfield which did drop away in the second half last weekend. However, the Tigers do look more robust in that area now since the arrival of Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper.
Richmond’s forward line was extremely dangerous last week but the efficiency wasn’t quite there. If they can rectify that with the likes of Tom Lynch, Jack Riewoldt, Shai Bolton and Dustin Martin prowling around forward 50, then Adelaide’s defence might be in for a tough day.
It will be perfect weather for footy in Adelaide on Saturday so we’re expecting a quality game of footy with the Tigers to salute in a tight one.
Tip: Richmond by 12 points.

Crows’ bold plan for mega test as Tigers unveil new-look talls set-up
Ben Cotton
Fox Sports
March 25th, 2023 12:52 pm
Adelaide plans to back its young midfield brigade for its clash with Richmond, which will unveil a second-gamer and a debutant as part of a unique key-position set-up.
The Crows (0-1), who went down to the Giants in Round 1, will resist the temptation to plug Rory Sloane or Ben Keays against a strong-bodied Richmond midfield, backing in younger players like Harry Schoenberg and Jake Soligo to accompany Rory Laird and Sam Berry at centre bounces.
The Tigers (0-0-1), who drew with Carlton in Round 1, have called on mature-age rookie Tylar Young to make his debut in defence, while Samson Ryan will play his second game to provide ruck support for Toby Nankervis.

THE 14 CERTAINTIES FOR THE REST OF ROUND 2
Hugh stuff
SEN
25 March 2023
Adelaide v Richmond
Tom Lynch to kick three goals
Tom Lynch is one of the best forwards in the competition and he's a certainty to kick three majors against the Crows.
Lynch was arguably best on ground last week against Carlton, kicking 3.3 in a near match winning performance against one of the best defenders in the competition in Jacob Weitering.
There's no Weitering on Saturday with the Richmond forward likely to match-up on Nick Murray, and no offence to Murray, but Lynch should dominate him in the air.
Pencil him down for three.
Jordan Dawson to have 20 or more disposals
Jordan Dawson is a star of the competition and is so lethal by foot.
The Crows love getting the ball in his hands and with the added bonus of taking the kick-ins, surely getting 20 touches is a moral.
The last time he took on the Tigers, Dawson breezed to a tidy 23 disposals and 19 kicks and was clearly one of the Crows’ best.
Expect a repeat performance at Adelaide Oval.

-
The key today is to win or at least match the Crows in contested footy and to be switched on defensively on transition. We can't allow them like last time to rebound at will out of our F50 into space and hurt us on the counterattack. Set up repeat inside 50s and unlike last week make the most of them against their inexperienced defence by putting it on the scoreboard.
-
Mansell is our sub.
No late changes for #AFLCrowsTigers
Substitutes:
@Adelaide_FC - Riley Thilthorpe
@Richmond_FC - Rhyan Mansell
https://twitter.com/AFL/status/1639486567432732675
-
I hope to see a big improvement with our fwd 50 entry’s. That’s pretty much the sole reason we didn’t win by 40 points last week with 20+ fed 50 entry’s.
-
Turnover :facepalm. Gift for the Crows in the first minute :scream.
-
Nice handball Marlion :banghead
-
Butchering and fumbling ever possession. Just like last week :banghead
-
Well they returned the gift. Broad + 50 = goal :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
Adel 1.0-6
-
Holy cow! A 50mtr penalty for a goal! ... :o
-
Young kick in traffic towards Lynch who kicks to Samson on the lead 30 out. Goal! :gotigers
Joins the first kick first goal club.
Rich 2.0-12
Adel 1.0-6
-
Holy cow! A 50mtr penalty for a goal! ... :o
We should frame it it's so rare.
-
Broad will get a week or two
-
Broad will be sighted for that.
These things could be avoided if the umps blew the whistle immediately for a ball up.
-
Great finish by Bakes :gotigers
Rich 3.0-18
Adel 1.1-7
-
Richmond players don't have heads apparently to get too high frees ::).
-
Richmond players don't have heads apparently to get too high frees ::).
Collingwood were getting all those calls
-
Bolton so far forgetting the defensive side of the game. Contests the mark then runs forward of the ball while the ball is still loose allowing his opponent to run off with it.
-
Taranto set shot from 45 misses.
19 - 9
-
Balta intercepts at HF and finds Dusty on the boundary 40 out. Kick goes across the face and Samson takes the contested mark in the pack. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.1-25
Adel 1.3-9
-
2 kicks, 2 goals for Samson! Easy game this one ... ;D
-
Broad will get a week or two
More than a week or two
-
We need to increase our pressure on the ball carrier. Too many one armed tackles
-
Quarter time
Richmond 4.1-25
Adelaide 1.3-9
Goals: Ryan 2, Baker, Broad.
Better accuracy in front of the sticks and winning the clearances and inside 50s. Still bombing it inside 50 or making silly mistakes by overpossessing by hand across HF. Agree Tigeritis about our tackling. Need to pin the arm so they can't release the ball by hand.
-
Stats to 1/4 time:
Disposals: 104 - 89 .... ( contested: 42 - 35 )
Clearances: 12 - 6
Inside 50s: 17 - 8
Tackles: 9 - 13
Prestia 10
D.Rioli 8
Dusty 8
Hopper 8
https://www.afl.com.au/afl/matches/4796#team-stats
-
Top marks by Kmac and Cotch.
Jack set shot from 50 = Goal! :gotigers
Rich 5.1-31
Adel 1.3-9
-
Bad turnover by the Crows in the centre. Bakes hits up Lynch 40 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 6.1-37
Adel 1.3-9
Makes a big difference when you kick straight.
-
Bolts with the centre clearance goes for the open goal but it bounces up and is rushed.
38 - 9
-
Hopper out of traffic to Short 55 out. Nice weighted kick to Lynch in the pocket. Shot across the face OOTF.
-
Was that rushed outside the 9m?
39 - 9
-
Great transition Tiges. Hopper on the run goals from 40 :gotigers
Rich 7.3-45
Adel 1.4-10
Maurice made up for his errant turnover kick with that chase down tackle.
-
Taranto centre clearance. Ends up with Jack 35 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 8.3-51
Adel 1.4-10
-
Loving Graham on that HF stuff
-
How was that not holding the ball? ::)
Tackled, held and just dropped it ::)
-
Loving Graham on that HF stuff
He was excellent last week too.
-
Last 5 mins has been ordinary from us. Can't exit our back half.
Lucky they are missing.
-
Our pressure has been much better this quarter
We are in their heads now.
-
We make them pay for their misses. Nank defence mark then we're able to out stuff them. Short to Bolton to Jack to Graham = Goal! :gotigers
Rich 9.3-57
Adel 1.6-12
-
Nanks sloppiness is a serious problem. Gives away far too many free kicks
-
Nank free in the centre. Taranto long. Shocking defending by the Crows :lol and it gets out the back to Lynch who goals! :gotigers
Rich 10.3-63
Adel 2.6-18
-
Soft goal
-
Poor by Short at HF. Did what Bolton did in the 1st qtr. It wasn't the ball to go hard offensively for. Crows get a goal on the rebound :banghead.
63 - 24
-
Quick reply Shorty
-
Another centre clearance goal for us. Kept the ball alive 20 out and Short soccers it through in the goalsquare :gotigers.
Rich 11.3-69
Adel 3.6-24
-
Half-time
Richmond 4.1 11.3-69
Adelaide 1.3 3.6-24
Goals: Lynch 2, Riewoldt 2, Ryan 2, Short, Hopper, Graham, Broad, Baker.
7 goals to 2 quarter :clapping. Dominated them in the guts.
-
Stats to 1/2 time:
Disposals: 186 - 168 .... ( contested: 79 - 68 )
Clearances: 21 - 13
Inside 50s: 30 - 23
Tackles: 17 - 28
Frees: 9 - 11 .... dominating the game but still behind in the free kick count.

Young 3
Mansell 0 ... ( sub unused so far )
https://www.afl.com.au/afl/matches/4796#player-stats
-
Hopper much more clean and effective with the ball this game.
Playing really well and I liked that he blew off Dusty and Jack am nailed the goal
-
Got to get those tackle numbers up through.
-
Well on top overall although the last 5-10 mins we allowed them to keep the ball in their forward half which is why they got those two goals. While we are on in the clearances we still need to remain defensively switched on, nail our tackles, and cut out sloppy disposal so we don't gift them easy rebounds off our turnovers.
-
How soft was that ::). Home town umps ::).
69 - 30
-
Dumb Jack. Should have protected the space for Maurice to mark.
-
Gotta say Bolton has been so average so far this year
-
pee farting around
-
Dumb Jack. Should have protected the space for Maurice to mark.
yep
-
Left our brains in the changerooms at half-time :banghead.
-
Gotta say Bolton has been so average so far this year
agree
-
Let it go over the line Tylar. Play the percentages. Lucky they missed.
We can't win a contest this quarter.
-
WAKE UP BOYS!!
-
stuff me, switch on
-
I wasn’t overly convinced in the first half. This lapse is just so poor
-
We've come out thinking the game was already won and now can't switch back on :banghead.
-
This is the worst 10 mins of football I can remember.
0 inside 50s and 1 clearance.
-
Not a great decision dropping Miller for Young.
Miller does not panic. I think Young is a little panicky not a good sign.
-
Stop bombing it
-
The skills in this first qtr have been absolutely disgraceful
-
Finally used our brains and controlled possession.
Jack misses the set shot though. He needed to kick that.
70 - 46
-
Alarm bells, they moved that way too easily. Lucky they miss
-
Bombing it long to our outnumbered tall on the wing isn't working Tiges :banghead.
-
This is a leadership issue. Who is taking control we a miles better than this. Stop kicking it long to their talls..
-
Smashing them in clearances, so they are making sure there are no ballups
-
We aren’t looking like a finals team, not just this quarter.. the whole game. The score board flattered us due to Adelaide’s in accuracy. Some big concerns
-
HTB rule today.
Tiges red hot gone.
Crows get forever and can drop the ball.
-
Where the stuff is Prestia and Bolton
-
They're getting a good run with the umps this quarter
-
We're playing like the side that played in 36 degree heat last week :P.
-
This is embarrassing :banghead
-
These umps ::). Crows player dives on it and drags in it = ball up ::).
-
To be 45 pts up at half time and now only 16 :banghead
-
We needed that goal
-
Well done Young. That kick set up the goal.
Dusty runs into an open goal :gotigers
Boy, we needed that.
Rich 12.4-76
Adel 7.12-54
-
Man up :banghead
-
So so so poor. Our fwd 50 pressure is just stuffed. Too many superstars who can’t chase and tackle and work hard
-
We can't buy a free. Jack should have got a free for over the shoulder.
Maurice needed to nail that tackle in the middle. Had Laird cold.
-
Any danger of a change Damien. stuff me.
Put Short back. If Rioli isn't kicking it we don't have any good decision makers.
-
Totally agree with last 2 comments.
-
Cotch just a moving witches hat!
-
Seriously since when did we need 3 talls ? All our success is based off ground level pressure.. get the ball to ground if we can’t mark and apply pressure.. atm we have one bloke who hunts the opposition and it’s Maurice. They can walk it out of a forward line with dusty, lynch, Bolton, Jack and Ryan plodding around
-
Pathetic pathetic pathetic poo
-
ZERO frees to us that quarter ::).
-
Adelaide player dives on it, gets tackled, stands up with a player on his back and spills it. That has to be the easiest incorrect disposal ever… nope!!!
-
How was there not several HTB against the Crows???? :banghead
-
Mansell the sub. stuff me, good to see an impact player available
-
3/4 time
Richmond 4.1 11.3 12.4-76
Adelaide 1.3 3.6 8.14-62
Goals: Lynch 2, Riewoldt 2, Ryan 2, Short, Hopper, Graham, Broad, Baker, Martin.
Dimma needs to the boys a blast. That quarter was brainless and soft.
Should give the biased umps one too!
-
We need to up the pressure.
When we don’t that’s the output we get.
It brainless and mindboggling. :facepalm :facepalm
We play that way next week and the pies will win by 100 points
-
3/4 time stats:
Disposals: 262 - 284 ... ( contested: 100 - 109 ) ... totally has flipped. Crows were +19 :help.
Clearances: 24 - 26
Inside 50s: 37 - 47 .... ( Crows had 24 that qtr :help )
Tackles: 39 - 28 .... sums up how soft we've been.
Frees: 9 - 15 ::)
Taranto 23
Short 18
D.Rioli 18
Hopper 18
Baker 17
https://www.afl.com.au/afl/matches/4796#player-stats
-
Hopper leg obliterated
Looked shocking
-
Hopper has done his ankle :(.
Great .... just great! :P
-
I can’t see how the match committee can select Mansell as the sub. Surely you need a ball winner in that role. Someone that can have an impact somewhere?
-
What is with us today running past the ball before it's won :banghead
-
Balta, no body work again, just try and outreach your opponent. Stuff me.
-
3 tall forwards and not one can lead as an option to co test Lynch’s kick on the forward stuff
-
Why are we playing so soft. :help :help
I can’t watch this crap. It’s 2016 all over again.
-
Who is down at ground level? No one :banghead.
-
This is so soft :banghead.
Everyone running away from the ball and contest leaving teammates isolated :banghead. You've got to support your teammates!
-
I think that’s the biggest takeaway.. the one thing that was always a given with this team isn’t there anymore. Fwd 50 pressure. 3 talls doesn’t work
-
Dusty subbed out!
-
Why take Dusty off?
-
High pressure second quarter we dominate
Pressure stops and we are a crap footy team.
-
Dusty subbed off for Mansell :o.
Mansell gets the goal so it worked :o
Rich 13.4-82
Adel 10.15-75
-
Why take Dusty off?
No tackling or pressure and player watching
-
Only our 2nd free for the half (Hopper). Goes long. Cotch front and square ..just ... bounces it through :gotigers
Rich 14.4-88
Adel 10.15-75
-
Why take Dusty off?
No tackling or pressure and player watching
If we are gonna have him play fwd we need to surround him with pressure players coz even at his peak he wasn’t a pressure fwd
-
Samson from down town :o :gotigers
Rich 15.4-94
Adel 10.15-75
-
Kmac in two minds and misses.
95 - 75
-
Balta head ripped off, no whistle. Didn't cost us thankfully
-
Balta has been huge this last qtr.
Bolton hits up Jack 40 out. Misses.
96 - 75
-
Balta head ripped off, no whistle. Didn't cost us thankfully
No frees for Richmond.
-
Jack could have sealed that
-
Pickett off HB, kick smothered but he keeps going and finds Lynch 25 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 16.6-102
Adel 10.15-75
-
Why take Dusty off?
No tackling or pressure and player watching
If we are gonna have him play fwd we need to surround him with pressure players coz even at his peak he wasn’t a pressure fwd
No excuses if you’re playing as a medium forward and no one should be exempt from criticism even Dusty
-
Well done Tylar :clapping. 720 on Tex before the ump paid the HTB mind you.
-
Who is our tackling coach? We do a lot of grabbing and not a lot of driving at the hips.
-
Bolts with the spin and goal :gotigers
Rich 17.6-108
Adel 10.16-76
-
All my hair is on the floor.
This has been a very unconvincing start to the season.
-
Who is our tackling coach? We do a lot of grabbing and not a lot of driving at the hips.
It would help if when we do do a clean tackle we actually get the HTB free.
-
We are going to get absolutely thumped next week if we play like that. I know we are capable of playing so much better. Hopefully building towards some form.
-
Final Score
Richmond 4.1 11.3 12.4 17.6-108
Adelaide 1.3 3.6 8.14 10.16-76
Goals: Lynch 3, Ryan 3, Riewoldt 2, Short, Hopper, Graham, Broad, Baker, Martin, Cotchin, Mansell, Bolton.
Take the 4 points and move on.
-
Can we get John Northey back to the club to give Bolton the half time rocket he gave Naish and Daffy at half time in the 95 EF?
Fair dinkum he needs to start doing the simple things.
-
Last year we would have lost that. Balta good, and Young looks good too.
-
Who is our tackling coach? We do a lot of grabbing and not a lot of driving at the hips.
It would help if when we do do a clean tackle we actually get the HTB free.
I thought the umps were pretty consistent all game when not penalising. I’m not saying that it’s good umpiring but I would rather consistency
-
Up to 2nd on the ladder for the time being.
ps. Must be the first time in decades that the Big 4 all sit in the top 4 of the ladder (for now anyway).
-
Crows fans bagging their team. Saying they only got back into the game because we took the foot off the pedal and when we were switched on, we had them covered.

-
That 3rd quarter was abhorrent.... So bad to watch. Thankfully it's only round 2 so we'll hopefully clean it up.
Hopper was awesome - even when he came back he held his own. Hopefully no injury.
I think without Taranto and Hooper we'd have lost that game. Tick to the recruiters.
-

95 SF?

As Dimma said, great 3 qtrs
The 3rd was diabolical
3 talls worked in 3 of the 4
Our biggest problem in the 3rd was in the centre. We got smashed, with the Crows clearly targeting Tarranto. He got smashed (literally) at every centre bounce in the 3rd. Nothing illegal, just Crows made sure in contests a 2nd player would smashed into Tarranto to negate any impact
Balta was very good but he still has alot to learn in body on body contests. That was really the only time Tex beat him.
Hopper showed why we got him. Was brilliant yesterday
Now on Shai. 1st half he was very good, did the 1%ers but 3rd qtr he went back to either show boating or just being a spectator defensively. He needs to get this out of his game, it is costly more often or not
-
Tarranto our best last week- Hooper best this week.
-
Balta was outstanding particularly in the 3rd quarter. He was one of the few who stood up in the third quarter. His efforts in the third quarter deserve enormous praise given the complete centre square dominance of the Crows. Thought Pickett was fantastic as well. Stood up when countered and played a brilliant 4th quarter. Thought our midfield went to sleep in the third quarter. Made errors normally wouldn't eg Prestia handballing directly to opponent. Cotchin was a steadying influence in the third and fourth quarters. Jack not as accurate as he usually is. Jack missed a golden opportunity in the third quarter and missed a straight forward kick in fourth. Crows exposed lack of speed in forwardline in third quarter. Bringing on Mansell was a wise move in the fourth as it stopped the crows rebounding easily.

The Positive: The ability to go 45 points up
You must be doing something right if you’re getting out to a 45-point lead by half-time of an interstate game against an improving opponent.
The Tigers were dominant in the first half and looked sharp in piling on 11 goals to Adelaide’s three.
After a stuttering third quarter, they were able to pick themselves up again and kick the last five goals to come away with an in the end deserving win.
When up and running, the Tigers are dangerous, but they can’t afford fadeouts…
The Negative: Third quarter fadeout
Amongst the positives for the Tigers there is a glaring negative.
That third quarter performance was woeful.
The Crows smashed them in the middle which led to a lopsided 24-7 inside 50 count, resulting in a 5.8 to 1.1 term. If it wasn’t for Adelaide’s inaccuracy in front of goal, the Tigers could have found themselves behind.
It was a similar lapse to some of last season’s which cost them games. Anything similar against Collingwood this Friday night will be punished.
The fact that Dustin Martin (hamstring), Tom Lynch (hamstring) and Jacob Hopper (ankle/leg) were all sent for scans is certainly not ideal.
Neither is the expected suspension for Nathan Broad for his crude sling tackle which left Patrick Parnell concussed.
What they need to tweak for next week
Richmond must bring pressure and intensity for all four quarters this Friday night against Collingwood.
It was up for almost three quarters against the Crows, but fell away in that third term.
As mentioned earlier, any lapses against the Magpies will likely end badly for the Tigers.
