Title: Changes for next week against the Bombers?
Post by: one-eyed on May 18, 2025, 04:21:55 PM
Trainor was subbed off but no mention of any injuries to us.

Balta won't be allowed to play next week as it is obviously a night game.

Fire away with your changes, if any?

Team Tips:

The Tigers will lose two key solders from their defeat to North Melbourne, with Tom Lynch to miss due to delayed concussion as well as Noah Balta (curfew). There’s still a question mark on Jayden Short as he hopes to return from a knee injury. The gun halfback was initially named to return against the Roos, before being pulled from the squad on Friday afternoon before final teams were even announced. Mykelti Lefau returned from his ACL injury via the VFL on the weekend and should continue to build reps in the twos before pushing for an AFL comeback. Tyler Sonsie put his hand up for a recall with 36 touches, seven tackles and a goal in the twos.

Jacob Blight is likely to come into the mix as a replacement key back, as will Campbell Gray for his second AFL match. If the Tigers choose to go smaller, defender/winger James Trezise was an emergency over the weekend, while Jayden Short missed with a knee issue.

In the Mix: Round 11

Dion Prestia (Achilles) will return through the VFL for his first game of the season, as will Tylar Young (ACL), while Samson Ryan (foot) is also available.

Short’s knee soreness has "tracked to the back of his leg" and he has a minor soleus strain.

Balta is unavailable for Friday night due to his court-ordered curfew after pleading guilty to assault, and is expected to also be unavailable for the following week's twilight game in Sydney.

Lynch developed concussion symptoms after the conclusion of the loss to North Melbourne, with a collision late in the game the cause.

Mykelti Lefau (ACL) made a successful return to footy in the VFL, but given he only played a pre-planned three quarters, is not ready to replace Lynch, with Liam Fawcett or Jacob Bauer options.

Jacob Blight and Campbell Gray will come under consideration for Balta's spot, although Essendon doesn't have the tallest forward line going around, with James Trezise a shorter rebound option.

Young Tigers tall earns Dreamtime recall as Richmond look to replace premiership pair

Richmond will recall ruck-forward Samson Ryan for Friday's Dreamtime at the 'G clash as coach Adem Yze looks to fill the void of two premiership talls.

The Tigers will name a young front third due to Lynch's absence, with the veteran Tiger sidelined due to delayed concussion symptoms in the wake of Round 10.

Yze will also need to shift the magnets to accommodate the loss of defender Noah Balta, who won't be able to play at the MCG on Friday night due to his imposed curfew.

Ryan will come into the side, likely being utilised as a forward target in Lynch's absence while also pinch-hitting in the ruck.

"Obviously, we've lost Noah Balta and Tom Lynch, so we're going to be a really young side on a big stage, which is awesome," Yze said on Thursday.

"It's an awesome opportunity for a young side. I sat in the middle of the forward line meeting this morning and it felt like I was in a creche without 'Lynchy' in there.

"But that's the exciting part of it. They're going to be so raw and they've just got to help each other through it and they've got to grow and turn into men. We're trying to fast-track that, and what better way to do it than Friday night footy?

"It's hard to obviously fill Lynchy's shoes, and if Jonty Faull feels like he has to, then that's going to be too hard. So they've just got to share the load."
