Title: Changes for next week against the Dons?
Post by: one-eyed on July 05, 2025, 07:14:13 PM
Two forced outs at least in Lalor and Hugo.

Add Balta as well as it's a night game next week.

Short I'm guessing likely to come in.

Fire away with your changes?   :help

Shorty comes back. Would have Young ahead of Kosi

I would bring in both Young and Kozi.

We need someone mature in the forward line

Out: Lalor, HRS, Balta

In: Hotton, Young/Kosi forward, Trezise

Alger better lift his game. I know he's new but 3 touches from a game is too poor to carry

Oh, what happened?

I didn't watch much of it tbh, was at another kid's party, kinda grateful for that - but it's also the reason I don't vote for OER player of the year.

Was going to say, if he can only get 3 touches in a full game then he's clearly not ready. I wouldn't want to risk him though if he's hurt.

With no.1 draft pick Sam Lalor expected to miss the rest of the season with a significant hamstring injury, and with suggestions Jasper Alger has hurt his syndesmosis, another fresh face will make his way in as replacement.

At minimum we have forced outs of: Balta, Alger, HRS, Lalor.
Don't think they will omit anyone else.
Guessed ins of: young, short, Trezise, hotton.

I'd be tempted to debut OHB this week against the Bomber's.  Perfect team to play against

As has been said multiple times he can not play AFL.

He is a category B rookie and is not eligible

This cannot be true.  Doesn't make sense.

Team Tips:

It’s been a tough stretch for the young Tigers, and it was compounded by the season-ending hamstring injury to No.1 pick Sam Lalor; confirmed by Richmond on Monday. And cruelly it happened just minutes into his return, and again to his left leg — the same hamstring that cruelled his draft year and the earlier portion of this season.

But in a promising corresponding development, first-round pick Taj Hotton is just about a lock to debut on Saturday night after two full VFL games in which he flashed brilliance, and he could be the direct replacement in the forward half for Lalor.

First-year forward Jasper Alger and wingman Hugo Ralphsmith were the other injury casualties from Richmond’s heavy loss, with Alger suffering a low-grade syndesmosis injury that will cost him three-to-four weeks on the sidelines and Ralphsmith to also miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

Jayden Short should return to the senior lineup after getting through the VFL side’s comeback win over Geelong unscathed, while demoted small forward Steely Green bagged three majors and should come straight back in.

Noah Balta (curfew) won’t play against Bombers as it’s an evening fixture, though his form in the past few weeks hasn’t exactly sparkled — finishing with a team-worst, negative player rating against Geelong.

Tylar Young has had some good moments in the VFL, having recovered from an ACL rupture last year, and could be an inclusion candidate for Balta — who played forward against the Cats last Saturday.

Maurice Rioli was the sub against Geelong but put in one of his better performances in recent times.

He looks a fair way off AFL based on his game vs Cats. Having said that, has come a long way so who knows in the coming years?
