We are the worst tackling club in the every competition. It's either a mistackle or we go high. Seriously, get a proper tackling coach down to Punt Rd.

No system. No connection between mids and forwards. Don't protect the defensive side. Great coaching ::).

Embarrassing what they're dishing up so far
Just embarrassing
Throw in the pitiful commentary by Kelli Underwood and this is currently painful

Really poor comment
One our most improved last year
-
Conti with the centre clearance hits Greiser on the lead. Goal! :gotigers
That's better. Although the centre clearance meant we had space in our F50. Plus Conti is class.
Rich 2.2-14
Syd 2.5-17

Quite a few MIA at the moment

Why play on there when you have a mark 40 out? :huh3.

Yep. Worst than ever on both front there.
-
You can tell Katelyn Cox has missed nearly 2 years of footy
-
Why play on there when you have a mark 40 out? :huh3.
Cause can't kick that far ?
No she didn't think it was a mark and just played on without thinking and ran herself into trouble.
ps. A decent coach would have a readymade plan for marks 40 out if someone can't kick that far. This is what a proper coach works on at training.
-
How is it 50m from the centre wing to 20m out?
15 - 31
Mind you we only have ourselves to blame. 3 chances inside 50 before that and we have no idea nor teamwork.
-
Yep Ferguson, leave a huge space for the Swans in their F50 for 30 seconds for a simple pass ::).
-
The saddest thing about this is it is no surprise.
-
Probably sums us up that it took our FB Miller to kick a goal.

Can't mark a footy

It's the same old problems over and over. Just basic skill execution.
Our forwards have no idea how to protect the space in front of them.
But it's no surprise really because Poppy Kelly is still on our list goes to show that we just aren't fairdinkum nor do we have any idea bow to build a competitive team.

I agree the coach is clueless.
Poppy might be the least of our problems tonight but the fact she is still regarded as a competent player for us speaks volumes on how clueless the whole women's program is and Sheehan and the list builders are bloody clueless.
......and we still don't have a VFL team. :help

We had 11 more inside 50s but just 13 scores from 47 entries = no system on offence.
Swans scored every second time they went inside their F50 = no system on defence.
Killed in uncontested possessions and marks = no system on transition.
All this under a coach into his sixth season with no finals wins ::).

Swans too good for Tigers in season opener
By Martin Pegan,
AFL Media
Aug 15, 2025
A strong performance from Sydney duo Chloe Molloy and Zippy Fish proved too much for Richmond to overcome on Friday night, as the Tigers fell in their AFLW season opener.
The Swans were in control for much of the contest without quite putting the Tigers away until breaking the game open with four third-term goals on the way to an 8.10 (58) to 5.8 (38) win on Friday night.
Molloy made an immediate impact in her first game back from an ACL injury that ruled her out of most of last season, with Sydney’s opening goal in the first term. She finished with four majors.
But the Swans’ co-captain was almost outshone by Fish’s superb first game as the 19-year-old gathered 25 disposals to fall one short of the record for the most on debut.
The Tigers were able to stay with the Swans through the opening half as they remained a threat on the counterattack, but were unable to stick with the hosts as the game opened up.
Caitlin Greiser booted the first goal of the game with a long bomb from 50m as the Sydney defenders switched off as the ball floated through at head height.
But there was no stopping Greiser’s second major as the key forward flushed her kick from beyond the arc to keep the Tigers in the contest after the Swans were on top heading into the main change.
Monique Conti was outstanding with a game-high 32 disposals, while Ellie McKenzie (20 disposals, one goal) also battled hard in the midfield.
Katelyn Cox got through her first game in 649 days unscathed after recovering from an ACL injury and had some important interventions as Richmond fought out the final term.
In a highlight for the Tigers, key defender Rebecca Miller was thrown forward and booted her first AFLW goal in her 52nd game, then kicked a second to give her side a hint of life.
But by then the Swans had already opened up what proved to be a match-winning lead, even before Molloy put the icing on the cake with her fourth goal in the dying stages.
Richmond will search for a first win of the season when it hosts Western Bulldogs at IKON Park next Sunday from 12.35pm.
Former No.1 picks share the spoils
Montana Ham and Ellie McKenzie share a slice of history as former No.1 draft picks, but there was no love lost with the midfield duo butting heads from the opening bounce. After keeping a close eye on each other and enjoying a bit of niggle through the early exchanges, the pair eventually went their separate ways, with Ham doing most of her damage in the forward half and McKenzie continuing in her on-ball role. The Swans’ prized draftee might have taken the honours if not for misfiring near goal as she finished with 0.3, while McKenzie was important for the Tigers at the coalface with a game-high eight clearances.

Fergie needs a new job, absolutely can not coach. Genuine PE teacher. Enough is enough, been very patient with our AFLW now is the time to demand some results and move past the nice guy phase and take this seriously. Our jumper is on display, and should be coached by a professional.

He's said some stupid things, made pathetic excuses over the years but this one tops them all
He also suggested apart from the back end of the 3rd qtr which he claims cost us the game we played well and were in the game :o

Coach is one thing and agree 100% needs a change but the whole women’s footy department stinks rotten. Like I said they club doesn’t take the women’s program seriously, why should we?

Didn't watch one minute, but Conti must be fed up by now

Tigers eye “multifaceted midfield”
By Luke Sicari
RFC website
Aug 16, 2025
Richmond AFLW coach Ryan Ferguson has praised the strong midfield combination of Monique Conti and Ellie McKenzie, as the Tigers search for the perfect mix to complement the star duo.
Conti recorded a game-high 32 disposals in Richmond’s season opening loss to Sydney on Friday night, with her incredible performance also including 22 contested possessions, nine inside-50s, seven tackles, seven intercepts and five score involvements.
McKenzie’s impressive work was reflected by 20 disposals, eight clearances and six tackles, as she battled against fellow number one draft pick Montana Ham.
Speaking after the 20-point defeat, Ferguson lauded the Conti-McKenzie duo and is hoping the entire midfield group can build on some positive signs shown.
"'Mon worked her way into the game really well," Ferguson said.
"She got some good attention early and just knows she can work into the game in lots of different ways. Her tackling pressure set a standard for the team.
"When she's tackling and putting pressure on, as well as winning the ball and getting the ball forward, that's a really hard player to stop.
"It was really good to see Mon and Ellie working in combination together. We need some more support around that to make sure we've got a little bit more of a multifaceted midfield.
"Grace Egan’s worked her way back, really positive signs to see her and I thought in the last quarter she really started to get going. To be able to add her into the mix and make sure we can get that unit working a bit more in sync together…there were some signs there for sure."
Two heartwarming moments from the clash included Katelyn Cox’s return from an ACL injury for her first AFLW game in 649 days and key defender Bec Miller moving forward and kicking two goals, recording her first major after 52 career games.
Ferguson emphasised the significance of Cox being back on the field.
"What she has gone through, how hard she has worked to get back, it’s important for her to remember that she did a lot of good things and you’re playing footy again on the big stage with a big crowd," he said.
"She’s a bit disappointed we lost the game and others are too, but you’re back going again and you’ve worked really hard for this, so make sure you enjoy that too."
The coach also revealed Miller has trained up forward at times during the preseason and placing her in attack is something the Tigers have up their sleeve if needed.
Richmond’s attention now turns to the home opener against the Western Bulldogs at IKON Park next Sunday at 12:35pm.
"We got to hold our nerve and make sure we are more consistent across the four quarters," Ferguson said.
"We’ve improved, we are a better team than we were last year, but we know other teams are better also. That’s the trajectory of the competition at the moment.
"It’s feeling it again…it’s one thing knowing it, it’s feeling it."
