AFLW Injury Report: Round 12, 2025
AFLW High Performance Manager, Eliza Morrison, details the Round 12 Injury Report ahead of Richmond's final clash of the season against the Gold Coast Suns.
Jodie Hicks: Foot, Test
“Jodie is back to full training, and if able to fully train again this week, will be available for selection,” Morrison said.
Sarah Hosking: Hamstring, Test
“The short turnaround and travel component for our Round 11 game meant Sarah was unable to recover in time,” Morrison said.
“We are hoping her soreness continues to settle in the next couple of days so that she can fully train to be available for selection this week.”
Ellie McKenzie: Knee, Unavailable
“Ellie experienced a sore knee following the game against Collingwood,” Morrison said.
“Her knee didn’t settle as quickly as we would have liked, and hence we got a scan, which cleared Ellie of any structural injury.
“However, Ellie continues to have soreness that is impacting her ability to train. As a result, she missed the game on the weekend against Fremantle and will miss this week’s game against Gold Coast.”

Congrats to Shelby Knoll for finally getting her 1st game as a Tiger. Should have happened much earlier
Been a long road back from her ACL
She is the perfect example as to why we need a VFLW side. Earlier this year instead of playing VFLW as part of her knee reco comeback she had to go off and play SANFLW. Farcical :banghead

Grieves should have had more awareness then but clearly no one talking and no one shepherding for her :facepalm.
-
Brennan crumb and snap misses.

Brainfade by the Suns defender gifts Knoll a set shot from the pocket. Nice kick. Goal and she joins the first kick first goal club :gotigers.

Goal to the Suns.

Conti too good wins the ball at HF. Gets to Greiser who could have run in closer to goal but goes the grubber kick from the pocket and misses.
8 - 9
-
Quarter time
Richmond 1.2-8
Gold Coast 1.3-9
Goal: Knoll
You can tell it's a game between two bottom sides. Mind you the Suns are at least trying to play with a system unlike us who just make it up as we go along. We only got our goal from a Gold Coast defensive howler.

OMG. We actually used the ball well. Wonders will never cease. Grieves lowers the eyes and hits up Greiser 40 out. Overcompensates and hits the right post this time.
10 - 16

Egan intercepts and finds Bacon 40 out. Shot falls short to the goalsquare. There's actually a contest this time around and Yassir front and square snaps a goal :gotigers.

Goal: Knoll, Yassir
Last 5-10 mins started to get the ball more in our forward half. But the ground set-up is a mess. The perfect example of that in that second quarter was when we had a chance to spring off HB and no one was on the outer side for a basic flanking play. This is schoolkid stuff. He is such a dud coach it's not funny :thumbsdown.

Yassir gathers and snaps a goal to put us in front :gotigers.

Rolled over in the last quarter. Embarrassing!
Get this useless idiotic coach out of our Club >:(. Our whole AFLW program needs a cleanout.
-
I watched the last 5mins. Umpiring is pathetic. Should have been holding the ball or a throw at their fwd50 line before their 2nd to last goal. And there was another handful of calls not made both ways in that short span of time too.
-
Why do our players almost always double back into trouble when they have the ball? It’s ridiculous
-
Why do our players almost always double back into trouble when they have the ball? It’s ridiculous
Because as I've said so many times the game plan is fundamentally flawed because we continually have no forward of centre, no structure.
So when we look up there's no one there so the we start playing happy handball or go backwards
-
All i can say is thank God this diabolical, shambolic and completely embarrassing season is over.
What a complete waste it has been 🤬🤬🤬🤬

If this has been happening all season they have to sack the coach. I coach under 12’s and we would never allow that to persist. Feel sorry for the players if this has been the instruction.

---------------------------------------
Gold Coast has snatched a win from Richmond to end their tough seasons, with a 14-point victory at IKON Park on Saturday afternoon.
Three frenetic final-quarter goals from co-captain Niamh McLaughlin, Darcie Davies and Havana Harris sunk the Tigers 5.9 (39) to 3.7 (25).
The Suns dominated uncontested possession throughout the afternoon (140 to 119), getting their kick-mark game going across the ground and being patient with their build-up, while Richmond went +14 in tackles.
The conditions were picture-perfect for springtime footy in Melbourne, 21 degrees and no breeze to move the needle.
Paige Scott turned heads as second ruck, supporting 50-gamer teammate Poppy Kelly. Scott came off with a leg concern in the second quarter but played out the match.
Both sides had chances early that went begging, including an opportunistic snap by Richmond captain Katie Brennan before debutant Shelby Knoll converted from the forward pocket to open the scoring.
Star Sun Lily Mithen then showed vision, taking a step and lowering the eyes before hitting up third-gamer Sienna McMullen. She went back and converted for the Suns' first – and her first career – major.
Early in the second quarter, a holding free kick in the ruck contest was awarded to Jac Dupuy, and she converted 20m out to hand the Suns the lead.
Richmond rewarded Caitlin Greiser's handy lead-up twice, but unfortunately she missed both shots.
Emelia Yassir celebrated her 50-game milestone by capitalising on a scramble in the goalsquare with a handy gather and goal before adding another major later in the third quarter.
It was a hotly contested second half, as both sides were desperate for the points in the final game of the season.
The Suns' defence held up well for the first few minutes of the third quarter – repelling with intercept marks again and again as Richmond peppered its forward 50 and got reward for effort with a snap from Yassir for her second of the afternoon.
After a number of missed opportunities in the final quarter, the Suns scored three quick goals, sparked by McLaughlin running and taking two bounces before converting from close range.
Irishwoman Aiobhin Cleary was down for a little bit after landing awkwardly and rolling her ankle, but managed to walk to the bench.
Scott won a free kick in the ruck contest on the 50m arc, launching the ball towards goal. It drifted left, but debutant Knoll juggled the ball on the goalline. Unfortunately, she couldn't complete her fairytale afternoon.
First disposal, first goal, first game to remember
Castlemaine's Shelby Knoll had to wait a long time – over 1000 days in fact – to make her AFLW debut. After being selected in the AFLW Season Eight Supplementary Draft with pick 24, she suffered an ACL injury and then struggled with hamstring issues. To gain match fitness, she played practice matches with West Adelaide. She was clearly impatient to make her mark on Saturday, pouncing on McMullen's hesitation in Richmond's forward pocket about seeing the ball over the line with a tackle. Awarded the free kick, she went back and made her maiden kick count with a drop punt and a running celebration to boot.

Tigers 'embrace' review into AFLW program
Richmond coach Ryan Ferguson says the club is 'excited' to get better after the club announced an external review.
By Danielle Croci
AFL Media
Nov 1, 2025
Richmond coach Ryan Ferguson said the Club would "absolutely embrace" the independent review into the AFLW program as an opportunity "to get better".
The Tigers on Tuesday announced they had appointed former GM of footy at Carlton Brad Lloyd to conduct the review for the club's AFLW program.
The review is set to cover everything on and off-field – from coaching and player development to culture, list strategy and high performance. As part of the review, Lloyd had observed preparations for Saturday's match against Gold Coast, and is set to remain embedded in the program in the coming weeks before presenting to the Richmond board and finalising the review in December.
The announcement came in what Ferguson called "a whirlwind of a week", with three players in Laura McClelland, Poppy Kelly and Emelia Yassir celebrating their 50-game milestones and Shelby Knoll debuting after working and waiting for three years through injury.
"The whole program's excited to get better and the club's investing," Ferguson said after their season came to an end with a 14-point loss to the Suns.
"It certainly adds a whole lot of energy to the week which I was interested to see how it played out today...we tried to [embrace it] but the game didn't play out that way.
"I'm always an optimist and always looking forward...in terms of building our program, this group has done a lot. And obviously we need to take steps to continue that.
"A step back this season, no doubt. [But] I think we're positioning to make those changes."
The loss means that the Tigers will finish the year in 16th place, after two wins late in the season against Adelaide and Collingwood.
For now, Ferguson said it's "business as usual", with exit interviews for players and other regular end-of-season duties.

Greiser 3 shots from in front for 0.1 didnt help and has Paige Scott done anything all season apart from give away free kicks ?
-
That is the worst game of football I have seen at any level in my life.
-
Greiser 3 shots from in front for 0.1 didnt help and has Paige Scott done anything all season apart from give away free kicks ?
On Scott, no she hasn't so why she was 2nd ruck yesterday was mind boggling. Gave away free after free. That's on the coach. It was a ridiculous decision
Which brings me to Greiser, she been 2nd ruck for most of the year and has been very good in that role. Yep she missed 3 sitters yesterday but she is like so many in our squad playing with zero or little confidence. The positive is when she's been in the ruck you could see her confidence grow, so why the change? She cops alot of whacks on here but struth had to feel for her yesterday and all or forwards again. Our lack of structure forward of the ball gives them practically no hope. She is a shell of the player she was at the Saints, could make a case that she's not just stagnated but gone backwards thanks to our flawed gameplan
