Free agency compensation picks would not start in the draft until after pick No.8 under a significant change being considered by the AFL.
It means top free agents who leave non-finalists could only warrant Pick 9 as compensation, at best, with the top eight picks protected.
It’s unclear whether this proposal would see all non-finalists given Pick 9 as band one compensation and picks would be awarded as they are currently for non-finalists, or if picks would flow on from Pick 9 downwards meaning the second-worst team could only get Pick 10, the third-worst team could only get Pick 11, and so on.

Or protect the top 10 all non-finalists
Or just get rid of it
And remove F/S discounts
etc

Said it before so many times
The AFL's F/A system too heavily favours the players it is not a fair system
So...
Get rid of the compo and allow clubs to trade players wherever they want.
Even it out giving clubs some control back
