Post by: mightytiges on July 13, 2004, 08:38:32 PM
Fling(?) "singing" Michael Jackson's "Beat it" with all the moves.

Absolute classic! The William Hung of Oz Idol  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Has this started yet Mighty?
I've been a bit slack watching the Block to know if it's on yet
Maybe we can run a sweep on the finalists with members on the OER board.

It started last night froars. Showed the auditions from Melbourne and Tamworth. I had it on in the background but had to check out Fling when he came on. Geez that was hilarious. Nothing like combining 3am nightclub moves with a strong foreign accent ;D. Poor guy was serious as well.

I'm sick of ppl laughing at us over our performances on the field, time I got to laugh at someone else for their performances.

LOL

What cracks me up is when a pretty young lass sings and is told she is totally crap, she goes and runs off saying to the camera what would they know anyway

LMAO !!

Well the first 3 are through.  Thought Ngaiire was better than Hayley.  At least Hayley's make-up has improved - she didn't have that awful red-eye look.  What did you guys think of Chanel?  I just loved the song she did - so sensual.  I thought Courtney was the best of the blokes too. :thumbsup

So what did everyone think of the second group of 10.  Pretty average but Big Mama Angie was the best.  That Daniel guy really picked the wrong song for his voice and wasn't he peeved with Dicko!!  Reckon he got through simply by sympathy.  That Yasmine thought she was pretty hot stuff.  Ok voice but Dicko was right - no class - very white trailer trash.

Wow Round 3 was impressive.  Go Ricki!!!!  Also liked Dan - especially without the cap.  Didn't like mr egghead marty.  Casey has a great voice but her looks will let her down.  I know that might be harsh but the public really go for the whole package and Casey's scruffy look won't cut it.  Bring on the wildcard - my tip it will be Ngaiire. :shh

Wildcard show was pretty good.  Anthony really stepped up to the plate.  I was pleased Emelia got through but was really hoping Ngaiire would make it and not Mr. Egghead.  Sunday's show is "Australian made" - should be interesting.

Australian made last nite.  Don't know if Amali or Emelia will make it to the next round.  Daniel was great, Dan was ok, Chanel is amazing, go Ricki.  Anthony, Angie, Marty will be lucky to get thru.  Haley's Killing Heidi was certainly a change for her.  Casey looked great and Courtney does a good Billy Field's.

Pop nite tonite.  Pretty good all round.  Weakest links:  Casey, Amali, Marty & Hayley.  WP you asked if any could sing:  Daniel actually has a trained voice and whe he picks the right song is very good.  Chanel is very different but in a good way - her Shirley Bassey "History Repeating" was spot on.  I love the fact that Courtney brings up the oldies but goodies.  Ricki-Lee would be one of the main contenders for being the Australian Idol - and she's a Qld'er!!! :thumbsup

I saw the promos for the voting of Sunday nights show while I was watching Criminal Intent - I saw this Daniel character Julz and I have to say he sounded awful - like he stood on a cats tail - missed a note ;D. And who was the girl who sang "Left outside Alone" -  :scream :scream SHOCKER.

Can any of 'em sing? :help
Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: julzqld on September 14, 2004, 09:41:13 AM
"Left outside alone" was sung by Hayley - a bit of a shocker.  Daniel actually has a very good trained voice, when you hear it in its entirety - except when he does Robbie William's "DJ".  My favourites are Courtenay, Ricki-Lee, Chanel and Daniel.  My tip for the top 4.
Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: julzqld on September 20, 2004, 07:32:44 AM
OK time for my weekly Aust. Idol comments.  Doesn't anyone else watch the show?  60's nite last night and it could have been better I thought.  Too many ballads.  Ricki-Lee did a great Tina Turner version of "Proud Mary" - she'll win this competition.  Felt sorry for Courtenay with all the discussion on his weight - he didn't look too comfortable about it.  Can't predict who will go tonight.  Quite a few weak performances last night - Amali is on the ropes as is Marty and maybe Hayley.  Chanel wasn't up to her best - song choice let her down and Daniel was ok but a bit pitchy at times I thought.
Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: froars on September 20, 2004, 07:44:21 AM
The chick who butchered To Sir With Love should go IMO lol
Courtenay will do okay because he can sing, well, going on last night - and who cares about his weight.
My girls Amali and Emelie were okay - I thought Emelie looked a lot better in her outfit and sang okay.  Amali is a bit weak vocally and maybe might get the stuff.  The rest were just so-so.
Title: Re: Australian Idol

Amali got the stuff.  For the second week running though, Hayley and Marty were on the ropes.  Can they survive another week?

Disco night this Sunday.  This should be interest to see how Daniel and Marty approach this.
Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: julzqld on September 27, 2004, 08:24:52 AM
Well once again Ricki-Lee was the brightest star singing the very hard "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" but everyone could hear the strain on her voice and Mark Holden is very concerned about it.  Also again, I thought anyway, Marty wasn't very strong, despite what the judges said.  Disco wasn't going to be everyone's cup of tea and Chanel and Daniel (who did ok) were a bit out of their comfort zones.  Will it reflect on tonight's voting?  Hayley was better this week.  Casey was a big surprise.  I agree with Dicko though, all the key changes did get a bit annoying - I mean 4 in one song!?  My tip is that Marty will go but Chanel will feature for the first time in the bottom 3.

 :cheers

I'll be so glad when this show is finished - it delays the start of Criminal Intent every week. >:( >:(

Didn't see Chanel, cos i was watching the Jimmy Krakouer thing at the time, but i thought my girl Emelie was pretty ordinary.
And they were right, she did look like Pauline Hanson - better send an urgent memo to Image Department lol
Wouldn't have a clue this week.  The blonde one sang better this week, so she should stay and the Ricky May lookalike is still great.
Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: julzqld on September 28, 2004, 08:07:56 AM
Well Emelia got the stuff with Marty yet again in the bottom 2 and surprise Casey was in the bottom 3.  Is there a hint of romance between Chanel and Daniel or is it all just for the cameras?
Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: julzqld on October 04, 2004, 07:53:23 AM
Last night was Ido's choice.  Courtenay and Daniel got a hard time from the judges.  Ricki-Lee yet again proved what a capital act she is but still no touchdown from Mark.  Hayley and Casey both did George songs with Hayley concentrating too hard and Casey copping the first touchdown from Mark.  Marty again was weak - he'll be gone by tonight.  I personally thought Chanel wasn't too good, as did Marcia but both Mark and Dicko loved it.  Anthony was the best for the night showing how versatile he is.  I thought he really showed Daniel up in the big voice area.  Stay tuned for tonight's live verdict.
Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: froars on October 04, 2004, 08:14:45 AM
I thought Chanel was ok - nothing specutacular though.  Anthony was good.  Courtney was good, just a pee-poor song.
Agree, Marty probably will go, but I'd like to see Hayley get it.  Both seem to be just making up the numbers.
Anthony and Ricki-Lee best last night - hard to split!

Title: Re: Australian Idol
Post by: julzqld on October 11, 2004, 07:43:54 AM
Well the Beatles night was full of contraversy.  Four of the seven finalists forgot words - 3 of them managed to hide it a bit (but for any die-hard Beatles fan it was obvious) and Casey was very obvious.  Even Ricki-Lee had a bit of trouble and Dicko was very critical of her boppy version of "We Can Work It Out" (it wasn't bad considering I don't particularly like the song).  Chanel did a great version of "Across the Universe" (another song I don't particularly like) but Anthony's "I Saw Her Standing There" was overdone.  Marty was a surprise with his version of "Oh, Darling!" - I thought "Helter Skelter" would have been good for him or even "I Am The Walrus" (I am the egg-man!).  Casey did the Zoot version of "Elinor Rigby" and got lost in the music (when she wasn't forgetting the words).  Hayley did a good version of "Yesterday" and I thought Courtenay was pretty good with "Got To Get You Into My Life" - except when he too stumbled over the words and there was a bit of an embarrassing refrain in the music as John Foreman tried to cover it up.

The highlight of the night was the big squabble between Dicko and Marcia with Dicko losing patience with Marcia who kept interrupting him.

Bring on the live verdict!!!

The Australian public actually got it right, If you look at how the voting is going there being judged on that one performance which is what they should be judged on, not on past performances which is what all the ho ha is about, she butchered the song and paid the price.

It's time to go................................Ricki Lee. I'm not sad at all, I'm very happy. The type of singer she is you can get a dime a dozen, no originality.

Title: Re: Australian Idol

Fair dinkum.

Im gonna go out on a ledge here by saying that of all the contestants thus far,
Courtney the transvestite had most "star quality"

Everyone else is like a whipped dog too frightened to say boo.

LMAOOOO"Thanx for the criticism dicko" - LMAOOOOO.

 This is the deal.

Anyone who receives x amount of media xposure via Australian idol directly or indirectly is basically owned by BMG wether they become a finalist or not.

The singers are sent overseas to work with writers and producers that write formulated "hit" songs and more often than not
are yet to experience chart success.
The songs are credited as co-writes but the artist will find that he or she will only receive 10-20% of the writing royalties
which isn't a bad deal considering all they really do is think of words to rhyme with whatever the chief writer has alredy
penned.

eg this is the first line of the song,

Baby it's been a long time
Since u went to heaven
I Been married six times
Now im going for number ______

What will happen here is the producer/writer will say,"hmmmmmm,I dunno what to say here"
and after some serious thought the act,in a shaky, mouse like murmer will pose the question. "...........seven ? ? ?"

Bang -writing credit.
Over the last 20 years the influence of stevie wonder on vocalising and Quincy Jones on pop arrangements has been far-reaching and everlasting.
Now everyone is trying to be Black.
ADVICE -MOVE ON!

At the end of the day Rock n Roll is king.
Its the attitude that one speaks of when refering to the rock n roll thing, the type of attitude that none of the soft cox on idol posess. They need to get a drug problem for afew years, battle with addictions, catch STDs and urinate down aisles of aeroplanes before they
can get serious about their careers.
Until such a time as these pre-requisites are met you will be subjected to more of the camp musical arrangements, more of the Cabaret strutting and even more of the egotistical dominance by dicko and holden.

Enjoy the program. :thumbsup

Guy Sebastion said with his new album he had more control over what went on it.  He said some producer has written a really bad song and he put his foot down and said there was no way he was going to have that song.

Shannon Noll was really the biggest star to come out of Australia Idol - bigger than Guy.  And Australian Idol (so far) has proved better and more lucrative than Popstars.  Katie Underwood had more success outside Bardot than in and as for the rest of the Popstars, apart from Sophie Monk, who has heard boo from Scandrus and that positively awful Scott Cain.
Title: Re: Australian Idol

I feel sorry for all of them Julz, i think they're all deluded with stars in their eyes.  Courtney it seems is the only one to me with a voice that is different, and could adapt to most styles of music, and seems to have been working a bit to learn his craft.
I saw Katie Underwood the other night and she was awful - maybe she quit Bardot because she felt she wasn't as good as the others which doesn't say much for any of them.
Life can be very cruel and i think all of them will find this out sometime down the line.  One of them will be very successful and famous for 15 mins - hope they survive the rest of their lives without an enormous chip on their shoulder and being bitter and twisted.
But hey, they all can sing better than me - so who am i to question them or their dreams.

Was that on "Dancing with the Stars" - yes that wasn't the best.  But she did ok with Disco Montego.  Last night was 80's night - I just loved the 80's.  Anthony I thought was a bit flat - didn't think the song was a good choice.  Loved Courtenay - "Oh Sherry" was a favourite song in the 80's.  Chanel's "Stop" just oozed sexuality.

R&B night last night.  Chanel wasn't very good - will this be the end?  Anthony was quite good but not exciting though.  Casey got a touchdown - she's got a great voice, but will her looks get in the way?  Courtney did "What a Fool Believes" and had trouble with the really high falsetto, which was a shame cause otherwise he did a great job.  Hayley did a Marvin Gaye song (can't remember which one) - was ok.  Actually, I was a tiny bit bored with the whole night and kept flipping across to 60 Minutes.

None of them really are up to standard - still like Courtney though.  Thought Hayley might have saved herself - she at least picked a song that sounded a tad R&B.  Agree, about time we got rid of Chanel - her affectations are driving me insane.

Well no surprise that Chanel was the latest victim to leave Aust. Idol.  I have, in the past, been a fan of Chanel but I gotta admit her performance was below par on Sunday and her behaviour last night was very annoying.

Hayley's voice is one of the best of the lot but she moves (or rather not moves) like she's got concrete shoes on.

I thought the make-over they did on the bloke on "Queer eye" last night was very good. That fella was a real mummy's boy.

the only reason I posting this is because bloody "Idol" delayed the start of "Queer Eye" by 15 minutes, ditto with Criminal Intent on Sunday.

Yes there's really no excuse for the late finishing.  Talk about drawing something out.  Should cut the verdict show to a half hour slot.

Hayley's voice is one of the best of the lot but she moves (or rather not moves) like she's got concrete shoes on.

She needs a band behind her and a guitar around her neck,
then she could just do what she does and not worry about it.
A coke habit and 4 years later we'll have one sexy, stuffed up rock biatch.

Big Band last night.  I love big band.  Courtenay finally got a touch-down - the night suited him the best.  The girls looked great with Hayley slightly edging out Casey in the singing department.  Casey's first song was great but her second song was just missing something.  Anthony's got the voice but just doesn't seem real - too plastic, no personality.

Anthony -  must have nackers the size of 100s and 1000s - bzzzzzzz

Courtney - Voice is good -Average singer.

Should be out of the girls.
Females are natural songbirds (or so im told)

Hayley is a sexy girl who could blow up any day but has a nice voice
like i said b4 - needs a band.

Casey,if the Aussie (male) public dont vote with their little heads
should win by a landslide.
Her performances bleed honesty and her gift is a little bit special :thumbsup
She can leave the others for dead when she really wants to.

While on cooking duties last evening I had Today Tonight on in the background....

Their lead story was how poor old Courtney's performance was cut in parts of Queensland :o :gobdrop - his father was digusted and said it was some sort of conspiracy to enusre his son lost - oh pluuzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeee give me a break :scream

No wonder no one watches Channel 7 - the lead story on their current affairs show was a free promo for a show on Channel 10 - dopes.

Poor Courtenay.  I'm hoping that Casey will win.  Anthony has a great voice but no personality.

They (Channel 10) really shouldn't draw it out as long as they do.  Channel 9 were just as bad with the last season of Friends.  Casey looked great in the red outfit until you saw her front on - hated the nose ring/chain thingy.
