Title: Votes round 18 - RFC vs Collingwood
Post by: mightytiges on July 31, 2004, 05:00:29 PM
Gutsy to keep on keeping on and never giving up but our skills and decision making just kill us every time. We should have won today. We lost the game rather the Pies winning it.

3. Bowden - Went up another level today to build on his form this year. Showed great courage.
2. Johnson - Led from the front. Definitely our captain next year.
1. Rodan - could of tossed it up but went for D-Rod

Apologies to:
Newman - Nice game
Zantuck - 4 goals
Hall -standing up in the ruck for the second half with Otto injured.
Cambo - stood up in the second half.
Richo - Would've got votes for his workrate up the ground in the second half except his goakicing today was off again - 2.6 and 1 OOF.
Rodan was good.
Tivs was better today.
Krakouer was good early.

Gas, AK, Fiora, Houlihan - not up to it. Dragga struggled as well.

Gas, AK, Fiora,Chafey,Tivendale should all be regarded as trade bate.
Get what we can for them now and get them away from the club.

Hoolahoop kicked two so he escapes a bogus wrap.
Pagan would use him.

Dragga One nice pass to Richo in the last but for the better part seemed lost and left behind.
No thinking time.

Agree Ox. However Gas' trade value would be zilch right now. In the third quarter Collingwood allowed him to receive 4 kick-outs in a row as they knew Gas couldn't hit a target.

AK's defensive aspect of his game was better today but that rushed kick in the last quarter out to open space on the wing was terrible and summmed up his decision making at the minute.

Dragga One nice pass to Richo in the last but for the better part seemed lost and left behind.
No thinking time.

I was leanient on Dragga as he's coming back to AFL footy after basically a 2-3 year absence. If he's off the pace of the game slightly then you would expect that. On the other hand we can judge him on his disposal. I don't reckon he has any trade value either so it's either keep or delist for him IMO at he end of the year.

3 - Johnson - next captain
2 - Bowden - his backiing back into packs was sensational - you've won me :thumbsup
1 - Rodan - 2 weeks in a row - very pleasing

Special mentions:
Krakouer - such skill - we just need it for 120 minutes
Zantuck - gave us another options and caused problems for the pies who like MT said elsewhere had Richo tunnel vision
Richo - bad kicking but gee he never stops presenting
Hartigan - the future and it gives us hope
Dragga - I really feel for this kid and I cannot be critical - sits on the bench for most of the day. 31 minutes out of 119. Bite the bullet you've promoted him - play him and see if he is up to it.

The Golden Turnup - Aaron Fiora granted you are sadly out of form but that goal in the 3rd that you missed from 35 metres out - ouch that hurt.

3 Bowden
2 Johnson
1 Rodan

Great effort by Rodan to stick to his guns and not drop his head. Really showing that he CAN play on the ball and be an effective player. Great use of Fiora in the last qtr when he drew the man and knew that he could use Fiora on the boundary as he is a left footer.

He is loving the role his has been given and its about time, i wont forget the Night Grand final against port where he nearly won the game out of the centre in the last qtr. He can play, still has to work on parts of his game but he can play.

Some pleasing signs there.....
3 Votes: Johno -> Last two weeks he was being overated and that is exactly the way to make me eat my words, unbeleivable stuff;
2 Votes: Bowdo -> Credit where credit is due, provided awesome rebound.....
1 Vote: Roder -> Getting more and more of it, continues to run and provide drive and kicked a couple....exactly what you want.

A lot of special mentions in there.....Hyde, Newman, Richo, Zantuck, Hall (for trying hard).....

3. Bowden – Never thought I’d get to say this, but his marking, backing back into packs was courageous as.

2. Rodan – created some run and added some real spark to the game.

1. Johnson – Week in, week out, does the team things that often go unnoticed.
